chapter 10) 10 days later) Henry Bowles being in a room where his Father David is torturing a woman for information about her group.
Henry stops short at the doorway when he hears the screams of the woman. He walks forward and grabs the door handle before pulling the door open slowly, peeking inside the room. He instantly recognizes the woman who is tied to the chair. She's screaming and kicking at her bound feet trying to break free. However, David does not pay any mind to the girl in front of him instead focusing on the camera recording their entire interaction, which has been placed between his hands.
David chuckles darkly to himself before holding his hand out for the tape recorder. "Here ya go. Now leave the girl alone," Henry states calmly with an indifferent tone, causing David to look up at Henry before letting out a chuckle at the seriousness behind his son's voice.
"I'd like you to take a look at this, Mr. Bowles. This is proof of my innocence. All the evidence is right there on this piece of tape," David says, pointing towards the tape player.
"And how do you expect me to believe that?" Henry asks harshly, crossing his arms across his chest as he stares at David. "How do you think I could ever trust you, huh? You killed my Mom," Henry exclaims angrily, stepping closer to the other man.
Henry's outburst causes David to freeze, his hands lowering themselves to his side and his posture to become rigid. He lets out a heavy sigh before looking down at the ground and speaking. "Please, son. Please, give me a chance. You know what it's like. The people I love end up dying." David admits, looking at Henry pleadingly. "Don't let it happen to you too, please."
"What are you talking about? My Mom's alive now and she's perfectly healthy. If you had hurt her, she wouldn't be alive right now. So don't say that things would end differently with me," Henry spits out as rage overtakes him completely. "You might kill her but I will never forgive you for hurting her!"
David winces at hearing his son's words. His heart sinks into his stomach when he realizes that he's screwed up big time. He can't lose Henry again. That was the plan after all. David wanted to keep Henry with him and he made sure that he knew it would mean betraying his wife. He knew that he had messed up, but he doesn't want to lose his son just yet. Maybe if he can make up for what he did. Make up for killing his mother then maybe Henry would forgive him. But now, he isn't sure.
He swallows hard and looks back up at his son after a few moments of silence. "I'm truly sorry, Henry. It was wrong to do what I did. Please, just let me try to convince you that I'm telling the truth. Let me prove to you that there's still a way for me to save everyone. Please just hear me out, okay?" He whispers quietly before moving closer to his son, reaching his hands out and grabbing onto his shoulders.
He notices Henry flinch a bit in surprise before he nods his head slowly. He pulls away from David's hold and walks further into the room and sits down on the floor in front of the computer table. David sits down next to Henry a few seconds later and turns around the camera he had in his hand, which happens to be the one that he uses to record everything that goes on during the apocalypse.
"It's going to sound crazy to you since you don't have anything that is related to the apocalypse happening here...but if you would let me continue with this story
