chapter 12) Henry Bowles along with 50 people from David's group go to a community with weapons to loot and steal the supplies of these survivors and use them as ammo. As they approach the town, they encounter a group of zombies that seem to be coming out of nowhere. Henry, noticing that the group of people are outnumbered, decides that the best course of action is to run.
After running through the woods for a while, he finally spots an abandoned cabin where he can hide temporarily. As he runs up to the cabin, he hears loud noises coming from inside. He opens the door cautiously to find that someone has barricaded it shut by placing rocks against the door. He stands outside the door, listening closely as the sounds increase and get louder and closer. He steps outside and takes a quick glance around, trying to find some sort of weapon or shelter that he can use to defend himself. He sees a large rock laying on the ground and approaches it carefully before picking it up and holding it in front of him.
As he continues to listen closely to the noises from the outside, he can't shake the feeling that something is about to happen. He glances down at the rock in his hands. "No...it's not a weapon. This is stupid." He thinks before walking over to a tree that is covered with a tarp. "It can wait," he tells himself before climbing up into the tree using a rope ladder that had been left behind by some previous occupant of the cabin.
Henry Bowles sees two people from the enemy group running with weapons to hunt him down, Henry Bowles just get down from the tree and take his bow and arrow and aim at the two people in the enemy group. He takes a deep breath before letting the arrow fly from his bow, causing it to fly directly towards the first member of the enemy group. The arrow hits its target and the guy drops dead. The other guy stops dead in his tracks and glances around the area before looking up into the tree where Henry Bowles is standing. Henry keeps his aim locked onto the guy with arrows in both hands ready to shoot at him again.
A moment passes and nothing happens. After the man stays quiet for a couple more moments, Henry lets out a long sigh before he lowers his bow and lets the arrow fall from the string. The man smiles and starts to walk forward. Henry waits for him to get close. When the man comes near him, Henry grabs his right shoulder and slams his elbow against the man's ribs, knocking him to the side. Henry grabs the second arrow and aims it at the man before pulling the string back and shooting the arrow directly at his chest. He smiles and releases the string, aiming it at the same spot as the first guy's body. It hits home and hits the guy directly in the heart with a loud thump, causing him to drop dead immediately.
The man looks down at his chest and grins, realizing what Henry had done. He lifts his head back up and narrows his eyes at the young teen. "You'r gonna pay for that!" He shouts before rushing towards Henry. He jumps at the boy and punches him square in the face, knocking him backwards before grabbing him by the neck and slamming his head against the floor again. The boy slides down the floor a few feet before stopping.
Henry Bowles has an advantage is to jump on top of the man and start strangling him in a cold way , which causes the man to choke on his own blood. After he manages to free himself, he falls on his side and coughs violently until he stops. His chest rises and falls heavily before he turns his head and glares at Henry with wide eyes and a mouth full of blood. Blood begins dripping from between his teeth, staining the ground below him red. His arms move slowly to his sides before his body relaxes and he goes limp. The only sign of life is the shallow rise and fall of his chest.
