Chapter 46 - Chapter 46

Alex POV:

As I gazed upon Jenny, her eyes scanning the document with rapt attention, a subtle smile crept onto my face. She was going to be mine, a pawn in my game of control. I thought of Grandpa, his wise words echoing in my mind - I was breaking my promise to him and repeating the same mistake. But this time, it was different. This time, I was in control.

I would keep Jenny for a while, until I had achieved my goals. Then, I would discard her, like a worn-out toy. It was a necessary evil, a means to an end. I needed to protect myself, to shield myself from the pain of the past.

I looked at Jenny, her brow furrowed in concentration. I reached out, gently tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear. The softness of her skin was a stark contrast to the cold calculation in my heart.

"Are you done?" I asked, my voice laced with a tired stress. The weight of my exhaustion threatened to consume me, but I pushed on. I needed sleep, needed to recharge for the challenges ahead.

Jenny looked up, her eyes meeting mine. "I'm done, but isn't this too much? I mean, I'll have access to all your wealth."

I chuckled, the sound low and husky. "It's not too much, Jenny. It's part of what you will have when you're my woman." My smile grew, a cold, calculated smile.

Jenny nodded, signing the document with a flourish before handing it back to me. I took it, my fingers brushing against hers, and placed it in a sleek black box. The soft click of the lid was a satisfying sound, a sound that sealed our fate.

Jenny POV:

"Come in now," Alex said, his voice calm and collected, like a gentle breeze on a summer day. The driver, who had been waiting outside, entered the car with the stranger. "To where, sir?" the driver asked, his eyes meeting Alex's in the rearview mirror.

"Her house," Alex replied, his gaze never wavering, his eyes fixed on some point in the distance.

The car glided smoothly into motion, leaving the curb behind like a leaf floating down a serene stream. I turned to Alex, noticing his pale complexion for the first time, like a moonlit night. Concern etched my brow, a gentle furrow of worry as l touched his neck. "Are you okay? You look pale."

Before I could react, Alex's hands encircled my waist, pulling me close, like a flower drawn to the sun. "If you wanted to check my temperature, should it be in front of these two?" he asked, his voice low and husky, like a whispered secret.

I blushed, feeling a flutter in my chest, like a bird taking flight. "I just wanted to check if you had a fever."

Alex's smile was reassuring, a warm ray of sunlight. "I'm perfectly fine, just tired. You don't know how happy I am to have you now, Jen."

I raised an eyebrow, noticing the familiarity in his tone, like a gentle brook babbling over smooth stones. "I thought you always called me Miss Jenny. What happened now?"

Alex's fingers grazed my cheeks, sending shivers down my spine, like a soft breeze on a winter's night. "Maybe love, that's why it changed."

I smiled, feeling a sense of wonder, like a sunrise over a new horizon. "I can't believe we long for each other, even though we don't really know each other like that."

"You cutie," I said, touching his cheeks too, like a gentle caress.

The driver's voice interrupted our moment, like a soft chime. "Ma, we have reached your house."

I hesitated, unsure of what to do, like a leaf torn between two paths. "Just go to your boss's house. He's fast asleep now. I don't want to wake him up."

The driver nodded, like a gentle bow. "Okay, ma."

After a few minutes, the car stopped again, like a pause in a gentle melody. "We have reached, ma," the driver said.

I turned to Alex, noticing the proximity of his house to mine, like two flowers blooming side by side. "So, his house is close to mine. How come I didn't know?"

The driver's voice was matter-of-fact, like a soft murmur. "Because the boss never comes out unless for work purposes."

I nodded, gently removing Alex's hands from my waist, like a gentle unwinding of a tender vine. But he held me tighter, reluctant to let me go, like a soft embrace. "Let's just stay like this for a while. I will let you go when it's time."

I rested my head on his chest, listening to his rapid heartbeat, like a gentle drumbeat. A soft smile spread across my face, like a sunrise over a new horizon. "Alex, wake up. You're at your house now."

He stirred, his voice groggy, like a soft mumble. "Give me two minutes."

I nodded, and he removed his hands from my waist, like a gentle release. "You can go home now. I will continue from here."
