Chapter 48 - Chapter 48

Alex POV:

As she opened the gate, a warm smile spread across her face, and she kissed my cheeks, her lips soft and inviting. "Welcome," she said, her voice like music.

I could sense Rhino's gaze on us, but he quickly turned away when I flashed him a discreet hand signal. I stepped inside, taking in the cozy bungalow, surrounded by lush greenery. I hadn't expected her to live in such a humble abode.

My eyes wandered to the clothesline, where a few garments hung, including some delicate female undergarments. I raised an eyebrow, intrigued.

Jenny POV:

I caught him staring at my undergarments, and my face flushed with embarrassment. I remembered washing and drying them outside a few days ago, never expecting him to see them.

"Jenny, why didn't you take those inside?" I asked myself, feeling exposed.

I tried to distract him by pretending to trip, and he swiftly caught me, his hands gentle yet firm. "Are you okay?" he asked, his voice low and soothing.

I couldn't respond, my mind fixated on his lips, shining with a subtle sheen. I yearned to touch them, to feel their softness.

But he read my thoughts, his eyes sparkling with amusement. "You'll get to have this when we get married. Just be a little patient," he whispered, his breath caressing my ear.

I snapped out of my reverie, my cheeks burning with embarrassment. That's when I noticed Dad standing behind us, a hint of disapproval in his eyes.

"Jenny, what's wrong with you?" he asked, his voice firm.

Alex helped me up, his touch sending shivers down my spine.

"Good morning, sir," he said, his tone calm and respectful.

Dad cleared his throat, his eyes narrowing. "Hmm, so you're flirting with my daughter. What did you actually want to do with her?"

Alex's expression remained serene. "Nothing, sir."

Dad's gaze lingered on us, his expression unreadable. "I see," he said finally.

Bason POV:

As I stepped outside, a scene unfolded before me that made my blood boil. That man, Alex, was holding my daughter's waist, his hands possessively wrapped around her. And she, my innocent Jenny, was about to touch his lips when he whispered those words. I felt a surge of disgust and disbelief.

I cleared my throat, the sound loud in the tense silence. They sprang apart, their faces flushed with embarrassment. I asked him a question, my voice firm, and he replied, his tone calm and confident.

"I see," I said, my eyes narrowing as I examined him. There was something about him that commanded respect, an aura of quiet power that warned me not to underestimate him. I glanced at the man behind him, Rhino, whose expressionless face gave nothing away.

I sighed, feeling a pang of worry. I hope my daughter is in safe hands, I thought. My gaze fell on Jenny, her beautiful face downcast, avoiding my eyes. I knew she was embarrassed, but I couldn't help feeling a sense of loss. I'm giving my daughter away, I thought, my heart heavy with emotion. I wish she could stay with me and Granny forever, but it's time to let go.

My princess was growing up, and soon she'd start a family of her own. I'll miss you, my dear, I thought, my eyes misting.

Alex POV:

As I gazed at Mr. Bason, a complex tapestry of emotions unfolded on his face - sorrow's gentle shadows darkened his eyes, worry's delicate creases etched his brow, and resignation's whispered acceptance softened his jaw. I recognized the struggle to relinquish his daughter, a universal ache that echoed through every parent's heart.

Mr. Bason's expression softened, like the first wisps of dawn's light, and he nodded, a subtle surrender. "Welcome, Alex," he said, his voice warmed by a hint of acceptance, like a crackling fire on a winter's night.

As we stepped inside, the cozy bungalow enveloped us, its warm embrace easing the tension between us. The scent of roasted meat and vegetables wafted through the air, mingling with the soft hum of conversation, creating a sense of comfort and tranquility.

The soft creak of the wooden floorboards beneath our feet echoed through the silence, a gentle reminder of the warmth and hospitality that surrounded us.
