Chapter 8 - Chapter 8

Jenny POV

The next morning, I woke up feeling refreshed and ready to tackle the day. I stretched my arms and yawned, feeling the softness of my bed beneath me. After a quick shower and dressing in my uniform, I headed to the kitchen to grab a quick breakfast before rushing out the door to start my shift at work.

As I arrived at the restaurant, I was greeted by the familiar sight of bustling activity. I clocked in and began my early duty, methodically cleaning the tables and chairs, sweeping the floors, and prepping for the lunch rush. The restaurant was a popular spot for high-status individuals, and I was accustomed to serving dignitaries and celebrities.

As the orders started coming in, I sprang into action, serving dishes with precision and flair. "Jenny, pass me the egg sauce," Lina called out from the kitchen window. I handed her the sauce and glanced at the clock - 1:20 pm. I needed to leave soon to meet Lisa at Tanwan Chinese restaurant.

"Lina, please cover for me today. I'm going to see someone," I said, trying to sound casual.

Lina raised an eyebrow but nodded. "Sure, but please help me serve the table upstairs first. I need to serve someone else."

I grabbed the tray laden with food, wine, and glasses and made my way upstairs. As I served the dish to the man, my gaze drifted to the other end of the room, where a muscular man sat in the corner, flanked by two imposing figures. I caught a glimpse of his profile, and my heart skipped a beat. He was breathtakingly handsome, with chiseled features that seemed almost otherworldly.

I was so mesmerized that I accidentally poured wine on the table. Mortified, I apologized profusely and quickly cleaned the spill. As I did, I felt eyes upon me, and I knew that the mysterious man was watching me. I finished cleaning and beat a hasty retreat, my face burning with embarrassment.

Alex's POV:

As I sat in the corner of the restaurant, sipping my coffee and working on my laptop, I observed a waitress spill wine on a nearby table. Amusing. My presence often has that effect on people. But when our eyes met, I felt a spark of curiosity. Intriguing.

I've grown accustomed to people stumbling over themselves around me. My features are...distracting. But there was something different about this girl. Perhaps it was her awkwardness, her evident discomfort. Whatever it was, I found myself interested.

I pushed the thoughts aside, refocusing on my work. I have more important things to attend to. But my gaze kept drifting back to her. I wondered what it was about her that had caught my attention. I dismissed the thought, my expression unyielding. I don't have time for distractions. No matter how...intriguing they might be.

I returned to my work, my mind calculating, detached. She was just a momentary diversion. Nothing more.

Jenny's POV:

I rushed downstairs, my heart still racing from the embarrassment of spilling wine on the table in front of that handsome stranger. I couldn't believe I had made such a careless mistake. "Why, Jenny, you stupid girl?" I muttered to myself, feeling my cheeks burn with shame. I wasn't usually affected by good-looking men, but there was something about him that had left me flustered. Maybe it was because he was even more handsome than Alex Grande, the famous actor I had always thought was the epitome of perfection.

After finishing my shift and packing up, I made my way to the Taiwan Chinese restaurant, eager to put the embarrassing incident behind me. As I entered the Taiwan Chinese restaurant, I was immediately struck by the cozy atmosphere. The walls were adorned with traditional Chinese artwork, and the soft glow of lanterns cast a warm light over the bustling dining area. The aroma of savory sauces and stir-fried vegetables filled the air, making my stomach growl with anticipation.

I was greeted by a friendly waiter, who smiled and led me to a private room in the back. "Right this way, please," he said, gesturing to a discreet door with a subtle sign that read "VIP Room".

As I entered the private room, I saw Lisa sitting at a beautifully set table, wearing a elegant black mask that covered her nose and mouth. She stood up to greet me, her eyes sparkling with warmth.

"I'm sorry for coming late," I apologized, feeling a bit out of breath. "I was busy at work."

Lisa smiled graciously, her mask glinting in the soft light. "Just arrived, so you don't have to apologize. Please, sit down."

The waiter returned to take our order, and Lisa expertly navigated the menu, ordering a variety of dishes. "We'll have the Kung Pao chicken, beef and broccoli, steamed dumplings, and fried rice," she said, glancing at me for confirmation.

I nodded eagerly, my mouth watering at the prospect of trying these new flavors. The waiter nodded and disappeared, leaving us to chat in the quiet privacy of the room.

As we sat down, Lisa leaned in and said, "I'm so glad you could make it, Jenny. I've been wanting to talk to you about something."

I felt a surge of curiosity, wondering what she wanted to discuss. But before I could ask, the waiter returned with our food, and Lisa encouraged me to start eating. "I hope you like it," she said, watching me take my first bite.

The flavors exploded in my mouth, and I couldn't help but nod in approval. "It's delicious!" I exclaimed, feeling a bit more at ease.
