Xerxes right hand held the fist of Delkon who struggled greatly to break free from his grasp. The master of both Rachel and I was infuriated, mercy was not an option Xerxes would consider.
Xerxes folded his left fingers into his fist, he had his eyes locked with the wavering eyes of the assailant being Delkon. In a flash, Delkon vomited even more blood as Xerxes fist made contact with his abdomen, even without his magic his physical strength was off the charts.
Delkon was bolted backwards at least 10 meters in the air due to the force of Xerxes punch. His ribs cracked from it's pressure and his pupils dilated to the point it looked like a dot on his eyeballs.
"This is the end for you."
Delkon crashed through the walls of an abandoned building, he broke his legs and arms on impact and was rendered unable to move. He had already lost consciousness and was at death doorsteps.
He had suffered enough damage from my full power as it is, but the untimely arrival of the Beast Sage stamped his death certificate. Xerxes approached the building slowly with the aim of giving distance between him and Rachel. She wasn't prepared for what he was about to do.
He came to a halt before lifting his right hand in the air and spreading his fingers. His right hand glowed green as he gathered magic in it, the magic type a mage possesses is specified by the glow of their aura.
For Rachel her's shone blue indicating she's a water mage, for a fire mage like Delkon his would be red. The green energy that surrounded his hand manifested into a rather small ball of wind, although not visible with the eye wind energy from the environment flowed into the wind ball.
Little by little the mass of the ball of wind increased, power and size respectively. After a few seconds it became as large as a rental store.
Rachel gazed upon the spell Xerxes was about to cast, being his apprentice for nearly four to six years now she had never seen him make use of such a technique. It was terrifying.
"I'll see you in the underworld Delkon."
Xerxes spoke softly as his eye balls glowed bright yellow, the massive ball of wind which was barely visible was now golden. Xerxes infused his beast Sage magic in the spell to increase it's damage rate.
"Ahhhh!!"
Rachel exclaimed as she was blown backwards towards me by the sheer wind pressure the spell released being built up, the roofs of buildings, kiosks nearby were wiped out as Xerxes stretched his right leg backwards.
The ball of wind grew smaller and smaller as Xerxes compressed all that power into a medium size ball. The explosive power was greatly doubled as we all know, the greater the compression or pressurization. The greater the explosive power.
"Beast Sage Art: Compact wind ball."
As he chanted the spell, he threw his right hand forward and launched the compact ball of wind towards the building Delkon was immobile in.
He turned around and shoved his hands into his pockets before leaving the vicinity walking towards Rachel. His victory was already assured the moment his fist came in contact with the stomach of Delkon, so why wait for the aftermath?
BOOM!!
The instant the compact ball of wind made contact with the building, the explosive power of the compressed ball of wind was released.
Along with the sound that came from it the whole building was disintegrated into dust, it sent shockwaves which destroyed several buildings around a 14km radius from the blast. Debris and remnants of the buildings flew in multi directions and the body of Delkon was pulverized.
Rachel raised her right hand towards her face to prevent particles of dust from entering into her eyes. She witnessed the destruction caused by Xerxes spell and was greatly dumbfounded.
"So this is the power of the Great Sage's!?"
Rachel exclaimed while I was merely unconscious next to her. Truth be told it was greatly satisfying that I was knocked out at this point. If you and Xerxes had the same magic type and you compared this to your magic how would you feel? oppressed? me too.
Xerxes stood in front of me and Rachel with a sadistic look in his eyes, he felt no remorse about killing Delkon and that sent an unpleasant chill down the spine of Rachel. Was there always a dark side to Xerxes?
"Let's go, Rachel, Xavier."
He instructed looking backwards towards the scene of Delkon's eradication. A crater was dug 20 feet deep by the explosion from the compact ball. Both Delkon and his men who were knocked out by Rachel a while ago died in that explosion.
"I-t's him, i-t's the..."
One of the unlucky villagers caught in the aftermath of the blast was crushed and buried by heavy rubbles of the buildings destroyed. He was shaken by fear as Xerxes passed him before he finally succumbed to death's gentle calling.
"M-master..."
Rachel muttered softly gazing upon the sadistic eyes of Xerxes. He walked past her and headed back towards the forest which was the route back to his Inn.
Terre Lane was a village with it's population being about 400-600 villagers, most of them had escaped when the battle started while the unfortunate ones died in the explosion.
In a world filled with magic the powerless are bound to suffer the selfishness of wicked mages. The ideals of power hungry mages have been forged into the heart of every society, leaving no mercy for the powerless.
Rachel put my left arm over her shoulders and carried me, we were headed back to the Inn, even the wine we came to fetch was destroyed. Travelling a few miles into the forest Rachel's mind was in great distress over the event that had just occured.
It wasn't something she could comprehend easily and that caused her to break the awkward silence.
"M-master, t-those people, they didn't deserve to die so why?"
Xerxes remained silent even with her questioning, he appeared dull and lacked the interest of responding.
"Why!?"
Rachel yelled with rage as he couldn't give a response as to why he took the lives of innocent people who did nothing wrong.
"Only the strong will survive."
Rachel froze, she couldn't believe what she had just heard. She didn't even realize that she let go of my arm and I slumped to the ground.
"W-what..."
Her voice trembled as she spoke and Xerxes could only sigh turning to face her.
"In this world of magic, only the strong will survive. The weak will always be trampled upon no matter how hard you try to avoid it."
His eyes shone bright yellow which posed as an intimidating presence. He showed his revealed his true nature to Rachel and she was beyond terrified by his presence.
She trembled in disbelief, his point of view was detestable in her ears and his aura terrifying.
"W-what a-are you?"
Tears rolled down her cheeks having discovered the true nature of the the man she believed to be her savior. There was nothing good or holy in the aura or magic he used, it was pure evil.
She picked me up and tried running away in the opposite direction, she couldn't possibly leave me with the likes of Xerxes, she also couldn't stand the sight of a murderer. In a flash he appeared right in front of her and placed his right hand forward.
"Drop him Rachel."
She came to a halt and stumbled backwards as she met eye to eye with Xerxes. "N-no, I won't let you deceive us anymore!." She tried defending me.
"It's too bad, I had no need for you the day Xavier showed up."
A golden black aura escaped his right hand and engulfed Rachel who fell unconscious, that was the true nature of Beast Sage magic. Xerxes told us Beast Sage magic was one of the three great magic, what he failed to mention. It's used only by those from the dark society.
