The underground prison was a containment facility created by Xerxes, he used it to store the skeletons of his hosts bodies that were already disintegrated by the dark essence of the dark society.
Burying a corpse that has been tainted by the energy from the dark society was a very dangerous idea. It's essence can corrupt the environment itself and would spread throughout the soil and the land killing it's nutrients.
Originally Xerxes couldn't care less but seeing as he needed to be careful in order not to mess things up and reveal himself, he locked all the corpses up which explained why skeletons were present in the room Rachel was in.
Xerxes walked up the stairs that led to the Inn above with a malevolent smile on his face, he was finally ready to set the third phase of his plan into motion. With Rachel out of the way it was relatively easier to do so.
His movements were hindered by a sharp pain in his chest, he placed his left hand on his chest and grinned his teeth.
"This body is deteriorating faster than I anticipated, by the looks of it, I only have about five to six years with this host. There's no time to waste anymore, I must acquire the perfect vessel, I must acquire Xavier."
With his time running out he had to devise something as soon as possible to prepare me for the soul transference. Xerxes got back into the Inn and sealed the entrance to the underground prison.
He searched the Inn for me, he assumed I was supposed to be resting but after reaching the visitors room I was no where to be found. Xerxes was worried, losing me at this period of time was something he couldn't fathom.
A sudden rush of wind blew through his hair from the windows and his eyes widened a bit, Xerxes rushed towards the back of the Inn and his eyes met with my body that was surrounded by intense wind energy.
"ARRRRR!!!!."
My battle cry was supported with a minor outburst of wind energy that surrounded my body, Xerxes smiled on the sight of this and was greatly pleased. It seemed I had finally gained mastery of the aero surge ever since my battle with Delkon.
"Brilliant."
I heard a voice from behind causing me to withdraw from practicing the aero surge. My facial expression had no emotional display, most likely due to the absence of Rachel who reminded me so much of my mother so in a simple sense. Whenever she wasn't around my mood reverted back to how I was when Xerxes first found me, broken.
"Yeah.."
I responded in a shaded tune, even I could tell of my sudden growth in strength and power, not only did I gain mastery of new technique's but my magic seemed to be growing. This caused Xerxes to lick his lips as my vision was not placed on him.
Unfortunately I didn't possess the ability to sense bloodlust yet, that is negative aura which represented an individual's thirst for evil. I turned around and walked past Xerxes and he was a bit shocked by this movement.
"Where are you going Xavier?"
I expected this, for some reason he always questioned my motives frequently these days.
"I need to clear my mind."
Xerxes eyes twitched in disapproval as he was slightly agitated at my response.
"Oh no, you should be resting your not even completely healed!."
I left the Inn muting his suggestions and anger, he might be my mentor but he surely wasn't my father or mother. A lot has happened this past few days and Rachel hasn't returned.
My true motive was to search for her and the best place I decided to start with was Terre Lane, usually people return to the scene of where everything happened so I assumed Rachel stayed in Terre Lane in order to celebrate the death of Delkon as that was his resting ground.
About thirty minutes had passed and I arrived at the outskirts of Terre Lane. An odd feeling rushed through my body, one thing was definitely observable from this town. Women were treated like gods of the land and it was for a good reason.
Terre Lane's founder was a woman who mastered the Arcana's art. The art of healing and nature. Xia Lee was her name and she was referred to as the Arcana Sage. Being one of the great Sage's she gave birth to an environment rich in nutrients, this was the source of Terre Lane's agricultural wealth so women were somewhat considered sacred in this land.
The history of Terre Lane was the major factor that caused the villagers here to attack me for my cold tune to Rachel.
Arriving at Terre Lane my eyes widened in shock, I was knocked out and rendered unconscious so it was of no surprise as to why I didn't remember what had become of this great agricultural prosperity.
The scent of dried blood and decaying corpse filled the air. My eyes met with the bodies of the villagers crushed by huge chunks of the eradicated buildings.
Worst of all, a huge crater was visible in the middle of the town. My mouth was widened opened but words simply refused to proceed from it for a while.
"W-what is this!?"
As I looked upon the destruction of a once prosperous town my heart pounded a little. Who could have something like this?
I walked into town, my eyes paying attention to every little detail there was, the bodies of kids crushed by chunks of buildings, men and women hanging from the iron rods of the semi-intact buildings. It was truly a horrid sight to see.
My ears picked up the sound of a grown man weeping, a survivor most likely and I rushed instantly towards the area the sound came from. Arriving at the source of the sound I found a grown man as anticipated on his knees weeping.
In our front were two corpse's that had their lower bodies crushed by heavy chunks of rocks and building parts that were blown off. The two corpses were that of a little male child and a woman, most likely his child and his wife.
"Who did this?"
My tune of my voice became dark, I was pissed. This was the same town I tried to protect Rachel and the civilians from Delkon so seeing it like this made me look like a failure.
"I-it w-was h-him."
The man stammered, out of fear to be exact. His teary eyes displayed fear as he heard my question and the image of the man who destroyed this town raced across his mind.
"Who?"
Obviously I could tell he was terrified but I needed to know, this couldn't go unpunished and I'll make sure Xerxes, Rachel and I put down the monster who did this and make him pay.
"T-the evil from the legends...It was... X-xerxes... A-advent."
"What?"
I was greatly baffled on hearing the name of the man that had done this. Indeed Xerxes Advent was a man from the legends, a man of great evil. Everything he had told me up till this point was a lie. There's a legend in Terre Lane about the three great Sage's written by the Arcana Sage herself and that contained the origins of the town, as well as the history of Xerxes.
"A-are you telling me..."
Out of great astonishment, I raised my right index finger towards the man's deceased child and wife before completing my question.
"That the murderer responsible for this...is Xerxes...?"
Once again I realized all the good that happens in the real world are just illusions to mask the truth of reality. The bitter truth which everyone in this world will face sooner or later.
