These Simple-class spells could only ignite things on fire. It still couldn't compare to the flames created by Low-class spells.
Felicia calmed down again and focused. She closed her eyes, and after a bit, she waved her hand.
She stared at her hand movements seriously. Blue light twinkled, and the moisture in the air gathered to a wave of water the size of a hand.
It shot forward and watered the shrubs with a splash.
"Was that good?"
Felicia nervously turned to Henry and waited for his comment.
"Sigh. I shouldn't be harsh with you. This is your first time demonstrating magic," Henry said and nodded his head.
He found it acceptable. At the very least, she could cast magic. If she couldn't, he would be embarrassed to be her master.
Felicia nodded her head. She was a bit embarrassed and humbled. His words carried a lot of weight in her heart.
And so, Felicia cast another spell.
She had seen Henry cast this spell before. It was the spell that silenced footsteps. She waved her hand, and a ball of wind surrounded her foot.
She lifted it and stepped on a dry leaf.
It was imperceptible to hear if one didn't focus. She was able to silence 99% of the noise. It was another success!
Henry faintly smiled. He was satisfied with this result. That was as it should since she had seen the spell and even experienced its effects before.
"Very good! You have the capacity to learn from your experiences. As you explore and see the world, you will naturally become better at magic."
Henry's words made Felicia's eyes light up. She bowed and kept her posture.
A few seconds later, "You can raise your head now."
Felicia and Henry looked at each other's eyes.
Felicia was in a daze. She looked at this man before her, and a sense of warmth grew in her heart. It was different from her previous relationship with him.
This was the warmth of a disciple and the master. It was a pure relationship.
"Dear, I keep forgetting you're my son. Hehe~" Felicia covered her mouth and chuckled.
She found it amusing. It was only a few days ago that she called him 'Dear' all the time, and she had already lost her previous image of him as her son.
It was because of his aura. He gave her the feeling that he was superior to her and that she should be a respectful disciple. It was ethereal, and it was part of Henry's body language he had accumulated in his past experiences.
A dragon might lose its wings, but it was still a dragon.
Henry smiled and nodded his head for her to continue on.
Felicia remembered another of Henry's spells. She waved her hand, and a brown crystal appeared. It emanated deep vibrations that thumped the chest.
It fell to the ground. The soil was pushed away, and after a few inches, the spell faded, leaving a pothole on the ground.
Time passed.
Felicia cast Lightning, Life, and Death spells.
Henry wasn't that impressed by them. He told her to study those elements more in order to increase the effectiveness of her spells.
"How about chants? Can you teach me some, Master?" Felicia asked and blinked her eyes.
"I told you already. I dislike chanting. I don't want my first disciple to get used to chanting and rely on it. Imagination is supreme," Henry replied and shook his head at her obvious attempt to take the easy way out.
Felicia pouted. She looked at him with a bit of sadness on her face.
"..."
Henry exasperatedly stared at her and shook his head again.
Felicia gave up and sighed. She sat beside him and looked at the night sky. It was still dark, and the stars twinkled faintly. It was a beautiful and serene sight.
"Dear, what do you think about attending a magus school?" Felicia asked.
"You already know my answer."
"It occurred to me that you will be able to display your genius there and quickly gain the recognition of the world. Wouldn't that help you?"
"Fame, status, and wealth… These things are not valuable to me anymore. If I can become famous enough to break through the limits of magic, I will strive to be a celebrity. If I can break through by becoming the emperor of the whole world, I will conquer. And If breaking through the limits can be bought, I will gather the wealth of the whole world…"
Henry's words were filled with weariness and felt overwhelming. Felicia shut her mouth and realized her view of the world was too low for her to understand Henry's perspective.
She connected his words to the him she saw in the illusion. It made sense that these words would come from such a person.
"What do you want to do?" Henry asked.
"I want to… break through the limits of magic and explore beyond the stars…" Henry whispered.
He took a deep breath and stood up. He lifted his hand up to the starry sky and grasped. He touched nothing, and he opened his empty palms.
A heavy sigh left his mouth, and he sat back down.
Felicia watched all of this, and she understood now. His dream was not in this world, to begin with. He wanted to exceed this world. Perhaps, for him, this world was a cage hindering his flight.
"What are the limits of magic?" Henry asked.
He seemed to be asking himself. He kept staring melancholy at the stars. No one answered him. The trees were silent, the bugs were absent, and the sky was emotionless.
"Maybe it's your heart, Master. When I obsess over a goal, I become unable to do other things, and that makes me unable to achieve that goal," Felicia answered.
Her words made Henry silent for a long while. He digested what she said.
After a long time, he answered, "Maybe you're right."
Henry stood up and walked, heading to the job site.
Felicia followed behind him, and she kept wondering if he liked her answer or not.
