Chereads / Return of the Strongest Forbidden Magus / Chapter 23 - The Royal Magic Academy

Chapter 23 - The Royal Magic Academy

Henry looked outside the carriages and stayed silent. He watched the scenery pass by them and gladly received the wind blowing on his face.

Meanwhile, Felicia sat beside Henry and was a bit embarrassed at her excitement earlier. She straightened her posture and imitated Henry.

She was a true country bumpkin, a commoner who had never left the city and lacked the etiquette to truly show her grace. These past few days were eye-opening for her.

She used Henry as an example and learned etiquette while learning magic from him.

The carriage continued on and never stopped until it was nighttime.

A sprawling of houses stretched to the horizon.

It was another city. The closer they got to the city center, the more the houses and the more luxurious they got.

A team of servants wearing maid uniforms walked out of the other carriages. They entered the carriages of the magi and served them food.

Henry looked at the unfamiliar food dishes laid out on a simple table in their carriage. They all smelled good and were hot.

"Impressive."

Henry was delighted by the food and ate with Felicia.

Midway eating, Henry noticed another carriage approaching. It stopped just behind Henry's carriage.

A young man and several servants walked out.

Gratus ran to them and bowed. Henry couldn't hear what they were saying, but he could tell that Gratus was very respectful.

The group returned to their carriage, and Gratus approached Henry's carriage.

"Sir, please protect the caravan later. You can come out whenever you want. We will disembark the day after and continue on to the Royal Magic Academy."

"Who was that?" Henry asked curiously and subtly glanced at the carriage behind.

"That's the son of the Mayor of this city. I don't have to hide this from you. We're inviting descendants of powerful clans and other relevant figures to take the Royal Magic Exam!" As he explained at the end, a look of fanaticism appeared on Gratus' face.

"Can we join?" Henry asked and moved his head back to show Felicia, who had been silently listening.

"Sir, there is an age limit…"

"I'm 17. I can join, right?" Henry asked and smiled.

Felicia was shocked at Henry's proposition. After all, he had once told her that he didn't need to join an academy.

Gratus was stunned. "...Yes!"

He took a deep breath, and the look he gave Henry turned to horror. He didn't know the other party, but he knew that the academy had a way to confirm someone's age.

Henry nodded his head. Gratus left with a palpitating heart.

"Why?" Felicia asked. She had been meaning to.

"I want to look at their documents and look at their treasures. They could also be keeping a page there." Henry lifted the page 31 up. It looked pristine and ordinary.

"What if there isn't?"

"I'm gonna leave." Henry shook his head.

He had no high hopes of finding another page of his book. He was just trying his luck. After all, that was a lot of pages. They could be anywhere.

The night passed. Henry slept in the carriage. There were two sides of seats, and the two took one side each to sleep.

When morning came, a group of magi walked over and joined the caravan.

The caravan was inviting magi from various cities to join them. This was, after all, a caravan containing the descendants of influential people.

The caravan continued on. The same scene was repeated a few times.

Perhaps it was because of the presence of the magi, but there was no attempt to intercept the caravan. They finally arrived at the Royal Magic Academy.

Gratus was moving back and forth, guiding the magi, and assisting the exam takers.

Henry walked to the side of a magus. This man wore a neat set of white clothes with seams adorned with gold trinkets. He was tall, and he had a slight aura of superiority.

The man raised an eyebrow and looked Henry up and down, disgust on his face. He didn't even turn to glance at Felicia.

"Explain the Royal Magic Academy for me." Henry gave him a single gold coin.

The man was stunned and took it.

"You can call me Yessipir."

The attitude of Yessipir changed. He also introduced himself as if he didn't just look at Henry with disgust.

The Royal Magic Academy was the magic academy built by the Treesap Kingdom. They had a curriculum of five years. And in the end, the graduates were all High-class magi.

It was very influential, and many of the teachers were Master-class. They could cause wind and rain to appear whenever they wanted to because of how many magi were their students.

Yessipir told Henry that he was also once a student but had failed to become a High-class, so he was kicked out.

This caused Henry's eyebrows to rise. From his understanding, High-class was already very powerful. It seems like this era was very prosperous even though it had some flaws.

After explaining, Yessipir swiftly disappeared into the crowd. Henry was left standing there, and Felicia waited beside him.

"This academy is interesting. They teach from Simple to High, which makes three classes. So similar…"

Henry was both perplexed and amazed. He was perplexed because this was supposed to be the far future. It seemed like some things would never change even after a long time had passed.

"Master, we're gonna miss the exam," Felicia reminded him.

"Right." Henry nodded his head and left with her.

They entered the academy.

It was the sole place in the huge plains surrounding it. It was far from any city, and the insides were designed beautifully with aesthetic greenery.

Trees were cut to shape, bushes were cut to form natural fences, and flowers lined up the sides of the rock pathways.

Felicia became silent. She felt nervous about the luxurious atmosphere in this place. The way the people moved had a certain grace to them.

She compared herself to a servant in the distance and became conscious of her own movements.

"Welcome! The whole kingdom has gathered their talents to participate in the exam today!" a loud voice came from an open balcony situated at the open square at the center of the academy.

"Good morning, Principal!"

Young men and women in green robes bowed their heads to the old man on the balcony.
