Mar has won, he throws his arms up in a show of victory, his right hand still holding his dagger that is dripping with blood. Mar can only revel in his victory for a few seconds however as he feels a pain in his legs so intense that he drops to the floor. His body lands next to the goblin mage's and his cloak lands partially into the pool of blood that was made from the throat of the goblin mage. Mar quickly realizes what happened to cause his legs to be this way.
"It was the forceful increase of magic power flowing to my legs which caused this, I am sure of it. I shouldn't have tried something like that in a battle." Mar continues to say to himself, "Though I got really fast, this is a skill that should only be used when it is the only way to victory." After 30 minutes or so Mar is able to stand, and then walk, every step recovers strength to Mar's legs and soon after another 30 minutes his legs are back to normal. This is a perk of being awakened, magic has all sorts of mystical properties, and healing is one of them.
Mar looks around for a chest of some sort, he slowly pans his surroundings and his eyes land on the goblin mage's hut. He realizes that if anything was going to have treasure, the hut was. Mar slowly walks into the hut, ducking under the entrance that is too small for a human and walking in. He sees a big pile of leaves, which acts as a bed, and a chest opposite it. Mar smiles as he looks at the metal chest with a stone body, he tries to open it, but he can't. It's not that Mar is not strong enough, the latch won't open, meaning it is locked. Mar curses under his breath and looks around the room for a key, it is then he remembers that the goblin mage wore a robe with many pockets, it might be in there. Mar returns to the corpse of the goblin mage and checks the front pockets of the robe for a key.
He can't find anything until he looks towards the goblin mage's neck and sees a necklace covered in blood. Mar pulls the rest of the bloodstained necklace from out of the mage's robe and sees a key on the end of it. Mar excitedly takes the key and walks over towards the hut. He ducks under the entrance and inserts the key into the key hole. He turns it to the right and the latch slides open. Mar lifts the top of the chest up and excitedly looks inside. He only finds, a scroll. It is written in unknown glyphs that don't make any sense to Mar.
Mar suddenly thinks to imbue the scroll with magic and it disappears, Mar looks confused but soon realizes that he had absorbed it. Inside his mind, he learns a technique for circulating his magic around his body, this can be used while meditating to bring more magic into the body, increasing the magic saturation of the heart, while in combat to flow magic to different parts of the body and while recovering from a magic intensive fight.
There is slightly more to this circulation technique and Mar gleams that it has something to do with lightning, he doesn't quite understand what it does but he knows it is an internal technique not an external one. An external technique would be like the air claw the goblin mage used, using elemental magic to effect the physical surroundings. Mar can tell at a higher level, this lightning circulation technique can be used to speed up his reaction time and movements.
Mar remembers what Ivarion told him about putting a spin on the magic spells he learns. The dragon made it sound easier than it actually is. Mar would have to study this once he got out of the dungeon, he had no time to waste right now. Mar tries to use the magic circulation technique and barely succeeds. He knows he will get more proficient but for now it just helps him recover his lost magic that he used from fighting. Mar gets up after resting for several minutes. He recovers his magic while walking and makes his way towards his bow and arrow as he tucks the goblin mage's necklace into his pocket.
