"Tell her or them to sue me if they want because I will." Avery left those words before turning back and facing her baby who was waiting for her, worried.
"Are you okay?" Gabby asked while carefully looking around her, to see if there was any injury.
Avery looked at Gabby's sweet face and wondered how anyone could hurt such a sweet boy. But they did. And they will pay for what they have done!
"Gabby, will you hug me for a bit?" Avery asked in a weak voice, gaining her son's instant approval as he stretched his little hands out and jumped into his mother's arms.
"You did a great job baby. I'm so proud of you." Avery whispered, hugging the small warm body as tightly as she could without suffocating him.
Gabby breathed in his mother's familiar smell and felt the thin but strong arms that made him the safest in the world around him. His eyes became blurry as he couldn't help but become weak in his mother's embrace.
