Chapter 8 - 7

In the morning, Pan Shi had woken up first and went to get some breakfast for Lei as she didn't want to wake her up and have her get it herself as she cried herself to sleep. She also went to check on Yu Min to see how he was doing.

Once she got to the hall where Yu Min is staying until he's a bit better to go home, she knocked lightly, but hard enough to hear Yu Min and the others heard it. She walked in and over to him. Pan Shi saw that he was still asleep and still breathing. Once she saw that he was breathing still, she let out a small sigh of relief. She'd asked the others if the doctor came back last night. They told her no and that they would have gotten her. Pan Shi nodded and left to go and to see if Lei was up.

Once Pan Shi got to Lei's Hall, she walked in and put Lei's breakfast, which was pork bone soup, on the table. She went to check on her to see if she was still asleep, which she was. Pan Shi smiled and also let out a quiet sigh of relief. She got Lei's clothes ready just in case she wants to change, or she throws up on the clothes she's wearing now. Pan Shi woke Lei up so that she could eat and drink the soup while it's hot. "Young Mistress, time to get up and have your medicine and have your breakfast."

Lei woke up and looked at her as she nodded, "o-ok. What's for breakfast?"

"Pork bone soup with a few veggies, your favorite veggies," Pan Shi responded.

Lei stretched and got up. "Ok."

Pan Shi helped her out of bed. She helped her over to the table so that Lei could eat and wouldn't make a mess in her bed if she were to spill her soup. Pan Shi helped her sit down so that she could eat.

Lei sat down and started to eat after saying thanks. "Hey Pan Shi?"

"Yes, Young Mistress?"

"How's Yu Min doing?"

"He's still alive and is still asleep from when I went to check up on him this morning before I went to fetch you your breakfast," Pan Shi replied.

"That's good. How's his fever?"

"From what I've heard, it went down quite a lot."

"Good," she said, "Pan Shi, do you think I should give up on this case?"

"No, but only because you've made it this far and you could prove to your parents that you can be trusted with this type of thing. You've already proven yourself to the king and Empress, Tao's father, Wenran's father, the kingdom, and you've proven yourself to your friends that you are capable of doing this," Pan Shi stated.

"But I'm only going to end up hurting my loved ones. Yu Min got hurt because of me. I can't let any more of my friends or family get hurt because of me, Pan Shi."

"Yeah and? Your friends are supporting you and helping you. If they don't get hurt, then they'd feel guilty that only you are getting injured. You've protected them long enough that they want to repay you for how much you've done for them," Pan Shi said, "I would do the same that your friends are doing if I could, but I can't."

Lei looked up at her, tears filling her eyes.

"Alright, alright, don't cry. Eat your soup so you can go back to rest a little more," Pan Shi said as she saw.

Lei nodded and ate her soup. Once she got done, she went to rest a bit more. "Hey Pan Shi?"

"Yes, Young Mistress?"

"Have you heard a voice, but never seen the person who's talking?"

"No? Why?"

"Ok. Nothing. It might just be my mind playing jokes on me," Lei said as she laid back down.

"Young Mistress, are you sure it's nothing?"

"Yeah. I'm sure it's nothing," Lei said as she let out a small smile to reassure her.

"Ok, if you say so. Get some rest. If you wake up and need anything, just yell for me," Pan Shi said.

"Ok, thanks Pan Shi," Lei said as she went back to sleep.

Pan Shi smiled as she left to go and inform Lei's parents about Lei hearing a voice but never see a person who's talking.

A few hours later. Lei wakes up feeling a lot better than the morning when she woke up for breakfast. Once Lei officially woke up, she saw her parents and a doctor. "What's going on, Ma and Pa?" She asked.

"We were worried that your cold would worsen as you're stressed about college and the case, so we got a doctor to do a check up on you," Yawen replied.

"Ma, I'm fine. I'm feeling better after I went back to sleep," Lei responded, "also, don't worry about me. I'll drop the case if it gets too much for me to handle."

"Lei, we're your parents, of course we're going to be worried about your health," Mu chimed in.

"Pa, Ma, I'm fine, really. It's just a cold. It's not like I'll die from a cold."

"Feng Lei! You can die from a cold if you don't take care of it right away and don't get it checked out," Yawen yelled.

'Right. I'm in the Han Dynasty era,' Xiao, Lei, thought to herself. "Alright, ma, pa. I'll let the doctor do a check up on me," Lei stated.

"Good," Yawen responded.

Lei let the doctor do a check up on her.

"She'll be fine after she gets more rest and eats healthy," the doctor stated after he got done.

"Ok. Thanks for checking her," Mu and Yawen said as they smiled.

"See, Ma, Pa? I'm fine," Lei said as she looked at them and then looked back at the doctor, "hey doc?"

"Yes Lei?" The doctor replied.

"How is Yu Min? I mean I know that he's doing well and still alive, but I just want to hear it from a doctor," Lei asked.

The doctor looked at Yawen and Mu to see what he should tell her.

They nodded their heads.

The doctor looked back at Lei, "he's going to live. He just needs to rest and not be bothered by anyone."

"Ok," Lei smiled. She was glad that Yu Min is going to live, "thanks doc."

"You're welcome, Lei," the doctor said as he smiled back, "if that's everything, then I better get back."

"It is. Thanks for coming in," Mu said.

The doctor got up, packed up his things, bowed, and then left.

"Hey Ma? Pa?" Lei asked after the doctor had left.

"Yes, Lei?" They both said at the same time.

"I-Never mind," Lei said. She wanted to ask them how they would feel if she had a boyfriend, but she also didn't want to get yelled at for having a boyfriend without their permission.

"Are you sure?" Mu questioned.

"Yeah. I answered what I was going to ask you and Ma," Lei responded, "also, you and mother can leave now. I want to rest a little bit more."

Yawen and Mu nodded. "Then, we'll be at the guard station to see how everything, and everyone is doing there," Yawen stated.

"Ok," Lei smiled.

"Bye Lei," they said as they left.

Lei watched. As she watched them leave, she would start to think why her parents came with the physician. "Why did they come with the physician? They know that I can fight this cold. Unless they know something that I don't know. But what would it be?" She rambled to herself.

After a while, Lei had fallen asleep. Pan Shi went to check up on Lei to make sure that she was doing better. She got to Lei's hall and room, walked to check up on her, and to see if she was asleep or awake. Pan Shi smiled as she saw that Lei was asleep and had more color to her face since the last time she checked her. She went to prepare some medicine for her after she woke up.

"Th-this is-isn't ha-happening!" Lei yelled in her sleep. She started to move around in her sleep. Lei was having a nightmare. "Th-they ca-can't b-be d-dead. Not everyone!"

Pan Shi heard and tried to wake up Lei but couldn't. "Young Mistress! Wake up!" She yelled.

"It won't work, Pan Shi," a voice called out.

Pan Shi heard and jumped. "Wh-Who's th-there?!? Show yourself!" She exclaimed.

"I'm no one of importance to you," the voice replied.

"No one of importance? Then why can I hear you and how do you know that it won't work?"

"Well, because I know the medicine that the physician used for her fever. And why you can hear me is that I'm inside your head so only you can hear me."

"How do you know the medicine? Did you do something to it?" She asked.

"Me? I didn't personally, but one of my minions did."

"Minion? Who?"

"Well, why would I tell you who it is?"

"Maybe I thought that you would tell me since I can't do anything."

"You tried to trick me, but you failed," with that, the voice faded.

Once the voice faded, Lei woke up, screaming and crying.

Pan Shi hugged her. "There, there, it was only a nightmare. Everyone's alive and well," Pan Shi stated.

Lei hugged back, tightly, crying. "But it felt so real."

"It wasn't."

Lei didn't reply to her, she just hugged her and cried.

Pan Shi lets her cry until she calms down and stops crying.

A few hours later, Lei had calmed down and let go of Pan Shi. Her stomach growled as soon as she let go. Lei felt embarrassed.

Pan Shi heard and smiled. "Let me go and get you a snack as you missed your lunch and it's not late for dinner."

Lei nodded. "O-ok. Thanks, Pan Shi."

"You're welcome. I'll get it. I'll be right back with a snack for you," Pan Shi responded as she got up and left.

Lei watched her leave. She was happy that she had someone like that Pan Shi to help her with certain things that she probably wouldn't be able to do. Lei was smiling.

Pan Shi came back with Lei's favorite snack after a while. She put down the snacks on a bed-side table that was next to Lei's bed. "There you go, Young Mistress."

Lei had a big smile on her face once Pan Shi came back and put her snacks on the table. "Thanks, Pan Shi." She sat up and went to grab one. Lei grabbed one and started to eat.

As soon as Lei took a bite, a servant came in and asked to talk to Pan Shi. Lei nodded. Pan Shi and the other servant bowed and then left.

Once they got out and a bit away from Lei's room, the servant had told Pan Shi that the physician had come back with the cure and gave it to Yu Min, but also that the cure was expensive, and that the physician told the other physician that the General's family of Xinhua would pay for it.

Pan Shi's eyes widened. She was glad that Yu Min was cured. "I'm happy that Yu Min was cured, but why did the physician have to pay for the cure? He could have just told the other physician that he could give them any ingredient or medicine if they need it."

"The physician had already tried that and also told them that the cure was for Yu Min, the son of officials for the king and Empress. But the other physician didn't buy it and so he doubled the price of the cure," the servant said.

"Ok. Well, have someone send the ban liang to the physician who gave our physician the cure and double the ban liang for our physician," Pan Shi stated.

The servant nodded and left.

Pan Shi headed to Yu Min's Hall to check him herself, just to make sure that the servant wasn't lying to her. Once she got there, she could hear talking.

"I'm fine. I feel great," Yu Min said.

"I know, Young Master. But you need to let your stab wound heal, so it doesn't get infected," a servant replied.

"I don't care," he stated.

Pan Shi walked in and looked at him with a look that said, 'you better rest or I won't let your girlfriend come and see you.'

Yu Min saw and sat back down.

"Good," Pan Shi said as she walked over to him, dismissing the servant. "So, we haven't told Lei the truth about why she couldn't visit you. So, you better keep it from her until you feel like she's ready for it."

"Ok. I won't tell her, even though it kills me to keep it from her, but I understand why," Yu Min stated.

"Good, Yu Min," Pan Shi replied.

"How is she?" Yu Min asked as he looked at her. He was worried about Lei, even though he kind of already knew the answer, but he just wanted to make sure.

Pan Shi smiled and let out a small chuckle. "Lei's fine. She just needs to rest and get back to being healthy."

Yu Min let out a small sigh of relief. "That's good," he responded. But as he responded, he remembered what happened when he had seen Lei that day of the storm and after he had gotten attacked. "Hey Pan Shi?"

"Yes, Yu Min?"

"Did Lei mention anything weird and unusual?"

Pan Shi hesitated before answering, "she did, but it has nothing to do with any of us."

"What was it?"

"She's been hearing a voice whenever no one is near her. I thought she was lying, but earlier I heard a voice and there was no one near," Pan Shi stated.

"What did the voice sound like?"

"It was a lady's voice. The voice sounded to be from someone who's as old as General Feng or Mistress Yawen."

"Did the voice sound familiar?"

"Yes and no. I mean it sounded familiar, but not familiar at all," Pan Shi said.

"What do you mean?" Yu Min questioned.

"I feel like I heard her voice before, but I could be mistaken for someone else's voice."

"Ok," Yu Min said as he yawned.

"I'll let you get some rest and sleep. Bye, Yu Min," Pan Shi said as she bowed before leaving. She had headed back to Lei's Hall to check up on her.

While Pan Shi was checking on Lei, the other six friends got together and were discussing things about Lei like why she hadn't been herself since her parents came back.

"Tao, since you're closer to Lei, has she told you anything? Like what's been going on?" Zhihao asked. Zhihao was the closest to Yu Min in the friend group.

Tao had to recall if she, Lei, had told her about anything going on in her life that is bringing her down, besides the case. "No, I don't think so. Or well, I don't remember if she did or not," she shook her head no, "Shen?"

Shen shook her head. "No, but she probably doesn't want to worry us with what's going on."

They all sighed and took a drink of their tea. It was silent for a while before someone actually spoke. They were all trying to think of what was going on with Lei. They knew that they could probably ask Yu Min, but they all thought that he wouldn't tell them, because he would tell them that it wasn't his place to say.

"What if her parents don't like the fact that she's on the case and keeps getting seriously injured?" Kang Fang spoke as if he knew that he was right on the bullseye.

Lao Mao, He Zhihao, Tao, Shen, and Wenran looked up at him with a look that said "he's right on the dot."

"Kang Fang, I thought that you were the clueless one in the group besides Lao Mao. But I think that you're the second smartest when Yu Min is not present," Zhihao stated, giving Kang Fang a compliment, which is rare.

Lao Mao looked insulted, but he completely understood where Zhihao was coming from. "That hurt, but I understood that."

"Good as you were supposed to," Zhihao stated as he went back to talking about the statement that Kang Fang said, "anyways, Kang Fang does make a good point."

Everyone agreed with that.

"But why don't they like that she's on the case, besides the fact that she keeps getting seriously injured?" Lao Mao asked.

"Maybe because they don't want her to become like them and not have time to spend with her family?" Wenran questioned.

"That could be one of the reasons," Kang Fang replied.

The others were thinking.

"Another reason could be that she's their only daughter and that she's the only one who could carry out the family bloodline to where Bai Chun can keep the family name going," Shen stated.

Everyone nodded.

"But I don't think that Lei wants any kids as she doesn't feel like she would be a good mother to the kids as she wants to take over her father's position once the time is right for her to be able to take the spot," Wenran said, "Lei had told us something like that, Shen."

"Right. I had forgotten that" Shen stated.

The boys looked at each other before stating that Yu Min wants one or two kids, so that he and his wife in the future wouldn't be so bored when they have nothing to do and when the kingdom is peaceful.

The girls looked at the boys with a shocked expression on their faces.

"Really?" Tao questioned, "I mean I don't see him liking kids or the well-being of a dad."

"Yeah, I know. We were shocked to hear that from him as well. But at the same time, I can actually see him as a good father as he always helps the orphans when needed," Kang Fang responded.

"I guess I can, too," Shen and Wenran said at the same time after they thought about it while Kang Fang was talking.

A while later, and after they got finished with the meeting, they headed back to their houses.

With the boss of the group, her right-hand man came in after knocking. "Boss, we found something that could help your daughter."

"What did you find that could help my daughter?" She responded.

"An herb that the royal physician has, but he keeps it well guarded and knows if someone messes with it," he stated.

"Ok. Well, get the herb then. I don't care if anyone dies just to get it," she said.

"Got it," the right-hand man nodded, bowed, and left.

The boss let out a sigh. "I hope he wasn't lying to me. I want my daughter to be how she was before a general injured her and made her to where she can't move or talk properly."

Back with Lei and Pan Shi. Pan Shi had said that Yu Min was awake and was feeling better. Lei was happy as she was still resting. Pan Shi was helping her deal with the medicine she had to take.

"It's sour, Pan Shi! Can't we add something sweet to it?" Lei asked as she didn't want to take the sour medicine.

"We can't, Young Mistress. It would affect the ability for the medicine to heal you," Pan Shi replied.

"Well, can I have something sweet after I take it?" Lei questioned.

Pan Shi was thinking if that would affect it, even though Lei had already taken it. "I don't know, Young Mistress." Pan Shi produced an idea and smiled. "If you take your medicine, I'll let you go and see Yu Min."

Lei's eyes widened. "Re-Really?"

Pan Shi nodded and smiled, "yes, but only if you take your medicine."

"Ok. I'll take my medicine," Lei stated as she drank her medicine. As she drank it her face had a sour expression

"Good, now get change so that you're not in your undergarments," Pan Shi stated.

Lei nodded and got up to get changed.

After a few minutes, Lei got changed and headed for the hall that Yu Min was staying at. She was smiling. Lei had a jump to her walking that all the servants had noticed as well. They were all happy that Lei is feeling good and that she has a jump to her walk.

Once Lei got to where Yu Min was staying, while he was resting, she would take a deep breath and knock on the door. "Yu Min?" She called out after knocking.

"Come in," Yu Min responded.

Lei opened the door and walked in. She walked over to where Yu Min was at. Lei saw Yu Min and let out a big smile.

"Hey Love," he said as he saw her and smiled.

Lei walked over to him and hugged him. "Hi, Yu Min."

Yu Min hugged back but made sure that he didn't open his wound. "How are you feeling? Did you get permission to get out of your bed?"

"I'm good. I'm back to my healthy self. I did get permission so that I can get out of bed, unlike someone," Lei stated as she put some sass into the last thing she said.

Yu Min looked at her and rolled her eyes. "At least, I don't have to stay here for much longer."

Lei put her hands to her heart as if what he said hurt her. "That hurt, Yu Min."

"Good. Anyway, what brings you here to me?"

"I heard that you were awake and doing well. So, I wanted to check up on you myself to see if you were," she said as she mumbles, "I'm sorry that I got you sick."

"Oh? Well, I'm doing much better," Yu Min said as he heard what she mumbled and smiled. "It's fine, Lei. It was my spot as your boyfriend to help you and care for you."

Lei looked up at him. She didn't know what a boyfriend was really supposed to do as Xiao, her real persona, didn't really have any boyfriends as she was and was waiting for someone. Lei had started to tear up, not meaning too.

Yu Min saw and wiped her tears. "Love," he said, quietly.

Lei just looked at him and was grateful that she had him in her life, both in the story and in real life. "What did I do to deserve you?" She mumbled to herself, hoping that Yu Min didn't hear her.

He did hear her, but he knew that she didn't want an answer and that she was thinking of the answer herself. Yu Min smiled and chuckled as he hugged her. "Silly girl," he mumbled under his breath.

Lei hugged him back as she heard him call her a silly girl, but she didn't do anything about it. She just accepts that her nickname is silly girl. Tears started to roll down her face and she buried her face into Yu Min's shoulder.

Yu Min held her and let her cry. He wants to be Lei's rock when she's unstable and needs someone to lean on.

A while later, Lei had stopped crying. Yu Min and Lei were talking about how they were going to tell her parents that they were dating.

"Let's just tell them, Lei. Plus, I'm sure they'll talk to my parents to see how you were while they were gone and you know how my parents are," Yu Min stated.

"Yeah, I know, but if we tell them now, they might get mad and say that we can't be together and that we only got together because your family is a higher up family and would help me if I got into trouble with people," Lei replied as she stated worries about telling them right away and when they're mad at her for being on the case.

Yu Min looked at her and said, "if they don't want us to be together because of that reason, then I'll tell them that's not the reason. I'll tell them that we had loved each other secretly and I was the first one to notice my feelings towards you and that I was the one who started to pursue you."

"Huh? Yu Min, you know how smart my parents are. So, would they believe that?" Lei questioned.

"Yeah, I'm sure that they'd believe it. I mean it's the truth," Yu Min stated.

Lei's eyes widened when she heard him say that and went red. "What do you mean by the last part?"

"What do you think I mean by the last part?" He asked as he was teasing her.

"How long have you liked me?"

"If I remember correctly, it was when you first joined college and you were one of the first ever females to go to college and be in a top class," he said as he tried to remember when he truly started to notice that he loved Lei.

"Do you not remember exactly when you started to like me?"

"Maybe or maybe, I'm messing with you," he teased.

Lei would push him. And as she pushed him, he would fall down, taking Lei with him and Lei landing on top of him.

Yu Min wrapped his arms around her. He'd smile and let out a chuckle.

Lei went red like a nectarine. She tried to get off of him, but she got pulled back down from his arms. "Y-Yu Mi-Min!! Let me go-go!!" she exclaimed.

He thought about it and then shook his head. "How about I don't and let me hold you?"

Lei shook her head no, but she knew that he wasn't going to let her go. So, she reluctantly agreed and let him hold her. Lei was still as red as a nectarine. "He-Hey Yu-Yu M-Min?" she asked, quietly almost like a whisper.

"Yes, my love?" he replied as he looked down at her.

Lei had to think about how she wanted to word what she wanted to say or ask him. "Do you think we can get the person behind all of this?" she asked, but it wasn't what she actually wanted to ask him. Lei couldn't think of a way to word so that Yu Min would understand what she was asking him, though he would probably know what she was asking him.

"Yes, love. Now, is that what you actually wanted to ask?" He questioned as he knew that question wasn't actually what she wanted as he saw her think.

"It isn't, but I can't think of a way that you would understand what I'm asking you without you misunderstanding the meaning of the question…" she stated as she looked at him. Her face had gone back to normal.

"Oh? Then, just say the words and I'll say the words in a question form and then answer it," Yu Min responded.

Lei nodded, "Ok. I'll try my best to say words that will make sense in a question form." She struggled to find the right words to say. Lei frowned as she couldn't find the right words.

"It's okay, love. You can always ask me the question when you can think of a way to say it later, ok?" He stated as he saw her frowning as he knew that she was thinking hard. Yu Min kissed the top of her head, lightly.

She nodded and laid on top of him as he still had his arms around her.

They stayed like that for a while and ended up falling asleep. The two stayed asleep until the sun was setting. Yu Min was the first to wake up. He sees Lei next to him, asleep and snuggled up to him. Yu Min smiled and let out a small quiet chuckle as he didn't want to wake her up as she looked peaceful asleep and beautiful when sleeping. He would try to get up without waking Lei up and would succeed. Yu Min put the blanket over her and went outside to get some fresh, cold air.

Once he got outside, he jumped up on the roof. Yu Min grunted as soon as he landed on the roof. He looked at his wound to see if he had accidentally opened it, but luckily enough he didn't. Yu Min smiled as he looked at the sun set in between the mountains. The sky was a pretty pink-purplish color. There were very few wispy clouds in the sky, which made the atmosphere relaxing and calming. He relaxed his shoulders and took a deep breath. "This is the perfect scenery to see while resting."

Lei started to wake up. She saw that she wasn't in her room and was a bit confused about where she was. Lei then remembers that she's in the guest hall where Yu Min was staying. She got up and saw that Yu Min wasn't in bed, so she called out his name.

Yu Min heard his name being called by Lei. He jumped down and went to her. "I'm here. I just went outside to get some fresh air," he responded.

Lei jumped as Yu Min responded. "Oh. Ok," she said as she yawned and stretched.

Yu Min smiled and chuckled. He walked over and sat down next to her. "How did you sleep?" Yu Min asked.

"It was good. It was probably the best rest I've gotten since I got this case," she replied, "how did you sleep?"

"I slept amazing," he said, "have you not been able to get a good night's sleep since you started this?"

Lei nodded. "I mean like there are nights where I can sleep well. It's just I don't want to miss anything, so…"

"Lei, that's bad for your health. Now, I understand why your parents want you to drop this case," Yu Min stated.

"I know, but I want to get this case figured out. I don't want innocent people getting hurt or killed anymore. Plus, I feel like whoever is doing this for a reason is trying to go after someone," Lei replied as she looked at Yu Min. She doesn't want to alarm him by telling him that she's been hearing a voice. Her face gave away that she was hiding something from him.

Yu Min saw. He wanted to tell her that her face gave away that she was hiding something from him, but he didn't. Yu Min thought that maybe she would tell him when she feels like the time is right.

There was a knock on the door. "Young Master, Young Mistress, dinner is ready," a servant called out.

"Ok. We'll be right there," Lei replied as she looked at the door, "let's go and eat." She got up and waited for Yu Min.

Yu Min nodded and got up. He walked towards the door and opened it for her.

Lei smiled as she walked towards and out the door. "Thanks, mister," she said as she stopped and looked at him with a smile to reassure him.

"You're welcome, ma'am," he said as he walked out and closed the door.

Lei let out a chuckle and walked towards the dining hall.

Yu Min followed.

As they were walking to the dining hall, Yu Min felt like something was about to happen. He didn't want to worry Lei, so he didn't say anything. Yu Min looked around, but acted like he was looking at the scenery.

They got to the dining hall and saw no one. Lei opened the door and walked in. She was alarmed. "Hello?" She called out.

No answer.

"Lei, be careful," Yu Min stated.

"I know and I am," she said.

As soon as Yu Min entered, they were ambushed.

"Where are they?!" Lei exclaimed.

No one replied and attacked.

Yu Min was fighting half. Lei was fighting the other half. They fought until they were all dead. Lei and Yu Min both got injured, but both of them just got cuts.

"Lei, are you ok?"

Lei nods. "I'm fine. I just got a few cuts. Are you ok?"

"Yeah, I'm fine. Same as you, I just got a few cuts as well, but not deep cuts," he replied as he looked at her and then looked around the room, "looks like we have a lot of cleaning to do."

Lei nods and chuckles as she also looks around, "but we can clean after I know where my parents are and that they are ok." She looked back at him.

Yu Min nods, "ok. I'll have the men look for your parents as we look at who was behind this attack."

Lei nodded as she went to see if the assassins had a duckweed tattoo on their shoulder. When she did, she heard something. Lei looks towards where she heard the sound and throws her sword, which ends up hitting someone and injuring them. Lei runs towards the person so that they wouldn't have a chance to run away. She gets to the person and grabs him. "Who are you? Who sent you here?"

"I'm no one of importance. Boss sent me," he said. His voice sounded familiar to Lei.

"You are of importance, Cheng. Who is your boss?" Lei asked.

Cheng looks at her and then bites down. He dies instantly.

"Shit!" Lei exclaimed as she threw his body to the ground.
