Chapter 28 - Chapter 28

At Marquez Corp, Denmark hurriedly stepped out of his car. He had briefly attended Cathee and Kevin's baby shower earlier, as they had insisted on his presence.

Kevin and Cathee had been his support during the times when he felt broken after Amiver left him.

That's why he couldn't refuse them. He just couldn't tell Amiver to avoid causing her stress and drama. He knew that Amiver had long disliked Cathee, even from before, and he couldn't blame her for it.

He was just waiting for the right time to bring up the topic of Cathee. Cathee and Amiver had never gotten along, not even from the beginning considering Amiver's generally warm nature, but a bit choosy when it came to making friends, even from before.

He sent a text to Amiver, "Have you had lunch, my love? I miss you." Then he continued with his work.

But he didn't receive a reply. He thought maybe Amiver was just busy, so he continued with his work.

In the afternoon, he checked his phone again, but there was still no message from Amiver. Denmark decided to call, but Amiver's phone was out of coverage. So, he made the decision to leave work early to spend time with Amiver and his son Marcus.

When Denmark arrived home, he found Amiver and Marcus were no longer there. The house felt empty and quiet, and he couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. He wondered where they could have gone without leaving a message or notification. Denmark decided to call Amiver once more, hoping to get some answers.

But Amiver remained unreachable, and Denmark's anxiety grew stronger. He knew his wife well from their childhood. She could be quite stubborn and would distance herself if she felt he had done something wrong without communicating it to him.

Hours passed, and morning arrived with still no sign of Amiver and Marcus. She remained uncontactable. The thought of Amiver being gone and not communicating with him brought a familiar feeling of dread to Denmark.

He couldn't help but think, "Where are you, Amiver?

Why did you do this again?" as he fought back tears. He was all too familiar with this feeling – the fear that she might distance herself and disappear from his life again.

Denmark knew he needed to take immediate action to find her before things spiraled out of control.

It had been over a month since Denmark last saw his wife and son. He had just returned from the US, where he had tried to talk to Justine, but he had no information. He also visited Messie in Cebu, a close friend of Amiver, but she was unaware of their whereabouts.

Despite these dead ends, Denmark decided to hire an investigator to keep an eye on Messie and Justine. He hoped they might know something that hadn't been revealed yet.

Do you have any idea why she left, bro?" Kevin asked as Denmark came over to his place to vent his frustrations.

Denmark took a sip of tequila and shook his head , "I don't know, bro."

"Maybe your coming to my baby shower was the reason she left?" Cathee interjected, sitting beside her husband, Kevin.

"I did tell you to bring her with Marcus here," Cathee added.

Denmark couldn't help but feel a sense of helplessness. He considered maybe it's possible that his meeting with Cathee and Kevin had something to do with it.

"But it doesn't feel like a compelling enough reason for her to vanish with our child," he said to them, his frustration clear in his tone.

Cathee and Kevin exchanged concerned glances, realizing the depth of Denmark's worry. They remained supportive, knowing that finding Amiver and Marcus was of the utmost importance.

Cathee gently placed a reassuring hand on Denmark's shoulder and said, "We'll do everything we can help you.

Denmark gave a slight nod.

Cathee couldn't help but smirk at what she had just said. The truth was, she still couldn't forgive Amiver for what she had done to her relationship with Denmark. However, no matter what she did, Denmark didn't' really want to get back together with her.

She had told Amiver many lies back then, and she knew about all of them through Kevin, Denmark's best friend. Kevin had secretly harbored feelings for her for a long time, so she had used him as a tool to gather information about Denmark and Amiver's relationship.

So when Amiver left, Cathee was overjoyed by the news, hoping that it would pave the way for her to win Denmark back once and for all.

Cathee recalled that when she returned to the Philippines, she immediately reached out to Denmark. He agreed to meet her, but he didn't want to rekindle their relationship. This rejection fueled her determination to win him back, especially when she learned that, to this day, Denmark still treated Amiver coldly. That's why she clung to the hope that she was still the one he truly loved.

After pouring his heart out to his friends, Denmark decided it was time to head home. He felt a bit lightheaded from the drinks, so he chose to return to their old house with Amiver, just a street away from Kevin and Cathee's place.

Denmark rubbed his eyes sleepily in the morning as he searched for his ringing phone. His head throbbed from the hangover they got from drinking at Kevin's house.

"Hello," he groggily answered the call.

Mr. Marquez, Messie booked a ticket to Manila alone.

Denmark's attention was immediately captured by the person who informed him about Messie's actions.

"Alright, please follow her closely. Wherever she goes, keep a close eye on her," he instructed his contact.

He believed that Messie was lying and that she knew the whereabouts of his wife and child. Messie had been a close friend of Amiver for a long time, so Denmark was confident that she would be the first person Amiver would contact or seek help from in times of trouble.
