Chapter 31 - Chapter 31

The next day, Cathee and Kevin arrived at Denmark and Amiver's house. Cathee was about to give birth this month, and her belly was quite large, yet her beauty still shone through her face.

Messie and Cathee were chatting happily, while she observed them from a corner.

"Ami," Cathee called her. She forced a smile, unable to forget their last conversation. She had known Cathee's true nature from the beginning – an angel in front of Denmark but hiding a darker side behind his back.

Hi," she greeted him.

"Hello," she replied briefly before leaving the area.

Admitting to herself that she wasn't skilled at pretending, she decided it was better to avoid engaging in small talk.

In the garden, they enjoyed their conversation, but just like earlier, Amiver remained quiet. So, she decided to play her phone in a corner. Even during their teenage years, she always felt out of place in Denmark's social circles whenever she joined them. That's why she made a habit of not participating in their gatherings.

"Ami, I heard you've become a great architect? I can't believe it; you used to be so quiet," Kevin remarked.

Amiver placed her cellphone on the table and responded with a brief, "Ahh yes, by God's grace."

"Yes, it was all over the news. I even told my acquaintance, that Ami was my classmate, that she's just a child of a maid, but she became the topnotcher," Cathee remarked.

Amiver felt a sense of discomfort at what Cathee mentioned. Even though they had always known they were maids in Denmark's mansion, hearing Cathee say it in such a way that made it sound awkward left everyone silent.

Yes, but you know she's an incredibly talented friend. Many people envy her, especially at work. Look at her, she got promoted to Vice President in a big firm, and knowing that she's just in her prime."Messie said, attempting to alleviate the palpable tension

Cathee responded with a smile, trying to diffuse the awkward atmosphere. "Well, that's impressive, Ami. I always knew you had a lot of potential."

Amiver couldn't help but sense a hint of insincerity in Cathee's smile, but she decided to let it slide. She wondered what Cathee was trying to prove to everyone with her comments.

When their conversation and laughter ended, her cellphone rang, and she quickly answered it. It was Justine on the line.

"Hello, Justine," she greeted.

"Hello, Ami. Where are you? I'm in Manila right now," Justine replied. She glanced at her companions and noticed Messie's inquisitive look as she mentioned her former boss's name.

Great idea, Ami. He used to be your boss, right? Why don't you invite him over so he can tour your house?" Cathee suggested. Amiver glanced at Denmark, who seemed to avoid eye contact.

"Okay, deal," she agreed to Cathee's challenge.

Messie looked at her with questioning eyes, and it was only later that Amiver realized she had bitten off more than she could chew with Cathee's challenge.she replied in a hushed tone

"Why did the idea of bringing Justine to your and Denmark's house even cross your mind? That would be painful for him, and you know he's in love with you. Messie whispered to her discreetly, ensuring others couldn't hear.

I realized it was too late. I don't know, maybe I was just challenged by what Cathee said.
