Chereads / The Lightning Dragon In Harry Potter / Chapter 58 - Quidditch Begins!

Chapter 58 - Quidditch Begins!

After the thrilling events of the previous night, the undeniable connection between Luke and Hermione was on full display.

"When did the two of them get along so well?" Fred questioned his twin brother, observing Luke and Hermione walking ahead, hand in hand.

"How could I know?" George rolled his eyes, finding the question a bit absurd. "But I know that if I were a girl blocked by trolls and a handsome wizard like Luke came forward when I was in danger, I would like him too." George jocked.

"Fuck off," Fred teased, taking a few steps away from George.

.....

The following day brought them to the Black Lake's lawn for Quidditch practice under the clear blue sky.

"Nice weather today!" Luke remarked, enjoying the sunny day.

Hermione glanced at the sky and nodded, acknowledging the shift from yesterday's snow-covered landscape to today's brightness.

"A Quidditch match, are you sure you can win it?" Hermione asked softly, her palm warming Luke's as they walked side by side.

Although Slytherin was set to face Gryffindor, she found herself supporting Slytherin in this match.

"Not sure, after all, the Seeker this time is Draco," Luke explained casually. It wasn't a matter of doubting Draco's ability; rather, it was recognizing Harry's strength. Relying solely on Harry to score goals wasn't a practical strategy. The Golden Snitch, capable of ending the game instantly, was the game's flaw.

"The Golden Snitch is so unreasonable," Hermione, with her knowledge of Quidditch, commented. The Seeker's ability to catch the snitch often overshadowed the efforts of other players.

"Our main purpose today is to help you learn to ride a broom," Luke said with a smile, clasping Hermione's fingers with a backhand. Winning or losing wasn't his primary concern; he wanted to make the experience enjoyable for Hermione.

On the other side of the lawn, the Twins were engaged in their own training routine.

"Come on, continue today!" Luke handed Hermione the broom.

She placed it on the ground, hesitated, and chanted the spell. "Stand up!" The broom responded, flying ninety degrees into her hands.

While her progress was evident compared to previous attempts, Hermione, being astute, felt it wasn't the level she desired.

"Don't worry, leave it to me," Luke assured her, ready to help her achieve the flying proficiency she aimed for.

Seeming to grasp Hermione's thoughts, Luke nodded in agreement.

"Take off!"

With Luke's approval, Hermione wasted no time and confidently chanted the flying spell. The broom lifted off the ground smoothly, circling once without any mishaps. Unlike previous attempts where the broom occasionally went haywire, this time everything went smoothly.

After a short flight, Hermione successfully landed in front of Luke, a mix of relief and joy evident on her face.

"I made it!" she exclaimed excitedly.

Her accomplishment was noteworthy, considering the seven or eight days of practice she had invested in the flying spell. It marked her first successful landing, with previous attempts requiring emergency interventions from Luke's spell.

Observing the happy girl, Luke walked over and affectionately stroked her brown curly hair. Hermione responded by closing her brown eyes contentedly, resembling a satisfied kitten.

"It smells good today too," Luke couldn't help but think, appreciating the moment.

.....

The next morning, as Quidditch's main Chasers and Seekers, Luke and Malfoy were up early, heading to the Quidditch field after six. It was Luke's first time on the field, and they took advantage of the quiet morning to familiarize themselves with the game's nuances, guided by a Slytherin senior.

On their way to the restaurant after the practice, Draco turned to Luke with a curious inquiry.

"Hey Geralt, are you still going to Gryffindor's table today?"

Luke, intrigued, responded with a question, "Why, are you coming too?"

Draco hastily waved his hand, dismissing the idea of joining Gryffindor's table.

"Can you help me ask out the girl who rejected me last time?" Draco suddenly revealed his request to Luke.

Perplexed, Luke's interest piqued instantly. "Why don't you ask her yourself?"

"Mainly because I've only seen her once at this school," Draco explained, blushing slightly.

Luke contemplated this silently, and decide to prank Draco along with Harry.

"I'll help you out," Luke agreed and turned around.

"Thank you, Luke!" Draco expressed his gratitude.

Draco failed to see Luke struggling to hold back his laughter.

.....

As Luke approached the Gryffindor table, Malfoy couldn't help but marvel at his good friend's willingness to assist.

"Puff—"

Sharing Draco's request with Harry, Luke was met with astonishment, causing Harry to spurt milk out of his nose.

"Cough-cough-cough!"

"Wait, Draco wants to meet Harry?" a bewildered Ron asked.

"Yeah, he specifically asked me to convey a message," Luke replied while Hermione feed a grape.

"You have to give Draco an answer," Luke advised Harry, who seemed unenthusiastic. "It's not good to leave people hanging like this."
