___________
Perk: Bondbreaker
Rank: Supreme
The bonds you break give you strength.
Broken Bond Abilities: [Blindside]
___________
Raven twirled a knife around in his hand, smiling.
'Interesting... Is this an ability that gives me power in exchange for betraying my friends? Since it says "Broken Bond Abilities", and not "Broken Bond Ability", I am guessing you "break bonds" in order to gather up more abilities?'
Excitedly, Raven brought out the description for [Blindside]
___________
Broken Bond Ability: Blindside
Rank: Rare
Out of sight, you killed his friends. In the dead of night, he met his end.
Gives you the ability to teleport. The farther away, the more aura required. Can only teleport where no creature is looking.
___________
'So the abilities will be in some way related to the bond broken? Cool! Now, will I be able to test this out now? I have not trained my Aura at all... Eh, might as well give it a shot.'
Raven stood up, and closed his eyes. He concentrated on the [Blindside] ability in his mind, and began to feel an itchy, tugging sensation. He focused fully on that sensation, and pressure built up in his head. Eventually, something burst, and he felt something from within expand outwards.
It spread in all directions, and it gave Raven an outline of all the physical objects in its' radius. However...
The more it expanded out, the more strain Raven felt on his body. Even maintaining the current radius caused Raven to lose stamina with every second.
Raven grimaced. 'I can't last much longer... but let's see what I can test out before then.'
Concentrating heavily, he stopped the weird sensation from expanding any more. Next, he tried to shape it. Right now, it was a sphere emanating from his body. Raven focused, trying to bend and shape it himself.
Slowly, it became fluid. Raven could stretch and bend it, and send out tendrils towards certain places. Then, as it was expanding into a nearby home, something strange happened...
... there was a part inside the home where it was unable to move into.
Raven released his ability, collapsing to the ground. He was sweating profusely, and breathing heavily. Still, he smiled.
'Damn, I didn't even use the actual ability itself, and I am drained! Well, that works out. I needed to form an Aura core in order to upgrade my [Poison Aura] perk anyways. So, putting my last TP into Aura and figuring out how to train it will kill two birds with one stone!'
Raven fought through the exhaustion, forcing himself to stand back up. 'Also... I really need to come up with a name for that stuff that expands out when I use the blindside ability... I can't call it aura, can I? That would probably get confusing...'
Raven slapped his face, trying to keep sleep at bay for just a little longer.
'Yeah, I can't stay awake much longer. I wonder... can I sleep inside the game? If so, I definitely should. If I can get a full 8 hours sleep in here, that would only be 4 hours in the real world! Conversely, if I slept outside, that would be 16 hours in the game. Well, before that though...'
Raven walked towards a nearby house. He stepped inside, moving towards the place where he could not 'sense' with his [Blindside] ability.
Soon, Raven arrived. It was the bedroom, and on the bed was the corpse of a woman Raven had killed in her sleep. At her side, a kitten was meowing. It kept pawing and licking at the woman's face.
Raven smirked. 'Cool! So that is how it works. If an area within my [Blindside]'s range is being looked at, I will not be able to expand its' range into there. Furthermore, I could not sense the cat, even though it couldn't see itself. That means I probably can't sense living beings, but I can detect them by their eyesight!'
Raven threw a dagger at the cat's head, the force of which shattered the skull, splattering brain matter and bits of bone throughout the room.
After, Raven activated his [Blindside] ability, spreading his senses throughout the room. His [Blindside] senses gave him an outline of everything in the room, including the corpse of the woman and the cat.
Raven released his ability, and barely kept himself awake and upright. As he gasped for air, he excitedly thought over the specifics of his new ability.
'So I can sense corpses. As expected, but it is good to make sure. Well, it is safe to say this ability rocks! Its' weakness can already be used to detect any creature with eyes in as wide a range as I have the aura to spare.'
'Not only that, but everywhere I teleport will be someplace where nobody is looking. I won't even have to put in much effort if I want to stab someone in the back now!'
Raven began shuffling out of the bedroom, slowly making his way out of the house.
'Still, I can't afford to get cocky. I wouldn't be able to detect any adversary that is blind. Any enemy of mine with even a shred of intelligence would exploit that as soon as they discovered the specifics of my power.'
Stepping outside, Raven walked towards the town's restpoint. Even if he wasn't going to leave the game, it was probably the best place to sleep, because there were no corpses to deal with.
Raven stepped past Rainheart's corpse, the bag with a cooked child, and the child's deceased mother.
'Thank god I am so exhausted. I would not be able to sleep otherwise, I am way too excited!'
Raven finally made it to a large building at the center of town. Going inside, he started making plans.
'Now, let's see... tomorrow I think I will leave the game, and look online for any guides on training Aura, or forming an Aura core. I have to take this seriously now, I can't afford to fuck up my Aura core. I should also figure out how to get some more TP...'
Finally, Raven made it to the town's guest room, which also served as a restpoint. It was a relatively large room, with a dozen beds lined up. Yawning, Raven collapsed on a nearby bed.
Before he could fall asleep, a notification appeared in his vision.
___________
You have found a restpoint!
Would you like to leave the game?
___________
Raven closed his eyes. "Nah."
And then he fell asleep.
It was the most deep and restful sleep he had ever experienced.
