Soon, the Quinjet reached the floating Helicarrier and landed on the landing ramp. Loki was taken in while the rest of the Avengers met Banner, also known as The Hulk, who was staying in the Helicarrier to track the Tesseract. Since James and the others had brought the sceptre with them, tracking the Tesseract would be easier.
'How can I prevent this war from happening? Is there even a chance?' James wondered. 'I don't know where the Tesseract is currently, but I know where they plan to use it to open the portal. Maybe I can stop the portal from opening.'
'Knowing the future isn't always a good thing. It comes with a lot of responsibilities," James thought. 'Either way, I won't let Loki escape now that I know their plan. I'll stay close to Banner to ensure he doesn't have the chance to transform into the Hulk,' James sighed.
Feeling a bit out of place, James sat in the room where Tony and Banner were discussing technological matters that were beyond his comprehension.
While Tony and Banner conversed, Steve entered the laboratory and witnessed Tony tasering Banner in an attempt to provoke him. Disturbed by this sight, Steve scolded Tony. The conversation escalated into an argument about Fury's true motives and what he intended to do with the Tesseract.
Steve abruptly stormed out of the room, leaving Tony and Banner to continue their technological debate. James, uninterested in participating, focused his thoughts on the uncertain future that lay before them.
As minutes passed, the remaining Avengers and Nick joined the others in the laboratory, eager to learn the results of their tracking efforts on the Tesseract.
Suddenly, Steve burst back into the room, engaged in a heated confrontation with Fury. The argument revolved around Fury's plans for the Tesseract and the hidden information he had kept from the team. Tensions rose, and soon everyone became involved in the dispute. James, however, chose to detach himself from the chaos, aware that the anticipated attack on the Helicarrier was imminent. He was thinking about trying to bring the future situation in control.
"Everyone, calm down," James suddenly interrupted, shouting to get everyone's attention. "There's a ship flying toward us at an unknown distance, possibly ready to attack." Although James didn't feel anything, he was certain that an attack was imminent, and he wanted to make everyone cautious.
"What?" Fury yelled and immediately rushed outside to warn the agents, completely trusting James's words and ordered Natasha to take Banner to a safe place away from all the ruckus.
At the same time, the sceptre began to glow, indicating that the location had been discovered.
A loud explosion echoed, but upon the noise subsiding, it seemed that no damage had been done. Fortunately, the defense mechanism had been activated at the last moment, preventing the arrow fired from the nearby ship from causing any harm. Nevertheless, the Helicarrier shook slightly from the impact of the explosion.
Everyone stormed out of the laboratory, getting ready for the imminent battle. Suddenly a hole was being carved at the thop of the Helicarrier, by the enemies who were trying to enter it.
James could sense about 10 people standing on the top of the Helicarrier and warned the others.
As the hole was carved out, big enough for the people to enter, two smoke bombs were thrown inside. Following the smoke bombs armed people entered the Helicarrier with shields surrounding themselves, protecting them from being ambushed.
'Why are they even trying to enter in such a way? Aren't they worried that they would get bombarded by us?' James frowned.
The smoke bombs which were thrown earlier were diffused in few seconds by the S.H.I.E.L.D technology, preventing the smoke from being spread out.
Fury already had ordered James and rest to attack the people coming from the hole, however they stopped doing so as the attacks were being deflected backwards by some kind of shield present around them.
'What the hell is this?' James observed the formless shield, trying to find the loophole in it.
Soon the last man entered the ship and after looking at his appearance, James was shocked.
'What the hell is he doing here?' James looked at the man who was flying and blocking the attacks from earlier. Now Jame understood why these men were so fearless and entered in the enemy ship without any care of being ambushed.
'Ebony Maw,' James gasped, looking at the person arrogantly floating in front of everyone.
Ebony Maw was a member of the Black Order and an adoptive son of Thanos. Gifted with powers of telekinesis, Maw was deeply loyal to Thanos and gave warnings of his power across the galaxy while assisting in the search for the Infinity Stones.
'He is not supposed to appear as of now,' James was confused and curious regarding the appearance of Ebony Maw, so early in the plot of the Marvel.
'This bas*ard is far more powerful then what he shows. Even with using my Deva Path Ability, I can tell that he would easily overpower me. Only if my level of Deva Path Ability was stronger, I would have been his match,' James sighed.
Currently Ebony Maw was a strong nemesis of James, as both their powers were a bit similar to each other, with Ebony Maw being stronger in using and controlling them, as compared to James.
That didn't mean that James couldn't stand a chance against him. With the help of his sword and the rest of the Avengers, he might be able to defeat Ebony Maw.
"Everyone fall back," Thor ordered as he was able to sense how powerful Ebony Maw was and asked the agents to clear this place.
Ebony Maw just smiled, looking like a friendly tourist, observing without any care. Tension filled the room and it seemed like a small bit of moment would in turn lead to a dangerous attack from both the sides.
