"Greetings puny mortals. I am Ebony Maw," He said.
"Humph, I am not some mortal," Thor interrupted him.
Ebony Maw shot a look at Thor and chose to ignore him.
A sinister smile crept across Ebony Maw's face as he observed the puny mortals before him. His eyes glinted with an unsettling mix of curiosity and malevolence. His voice, dripping with superiority, echoed through the chamber.
"Now, now, my dear, feeble beings," Ebony Maw began, his words laced with an eerie charm. "You must understand the gravity of the situation. The object you have tampered with is no ordinary artifact. It is the Tesseract, a source of unimaginable power, sought after by beings across the cosmos."
Everyone just looked at Fury after what Ebony Maw said. Although they may be at odds with each other, they agreed that Tesseract was something that they should not touch.
Ebony Maw continued, his mesmerizing voice drawing them into his web of sinister intent.
"Your insolence has consequences. The Tesseract is not meant for your feeble mortal minds to comprehend, let alone wield. Its true power lies beyond your comprehension. Should it fall into the wrong hands or be mishandled, the consequences would be dire, defying all you hold dear."
His words hung heavy in the air, silence enveloping the room as the reality of their situation sank in. Ebony Maw reveled in their fear, knowing that he held the upper hand in this twisted dance of power and manipulation.
"And now," Ebony Maw concluded, his voice dripping with impending doom, "you shall face the consequences of your curiosity. Prepare yourselves, for the price to pay may be higher than you could ever imagine."
"I have zero knowledge about the price, but seriously, this guy just won't shut up," Tony grumbled.
"Enough talk, let's fight," Thor launched himself towards Ebony Maw with Mjolnir in hand, ready to strike. But as he swung his hammer, Ebony Maw deftly dodged the attack, his agility and skill surpassing anything they had seen before.
Nick Fury had already retreated knowing well that he won't be able to do much in this fight.
As Fury left, the room erupted into chaos as the Avengers engaged in a desperate battle against the powerful and cunning Ebony Maw. Iron Man fired repulsor blasts, while Captain America and James deflected and defended the attacks of Ebony Maw, where he used his Telekinesis to throw the objects in the environment towards them, thus protecting the whole group.
But no matter how hard they fought, Ebony Maw seemed to anticipate their every move, effortlessly dodging their attacks and countering with his own deadly precision. His telekinetic powers allowed him to manipulate the environment, hurling debris and incapacitating the Avengers one by one.
As the battle waged on, frustration began to build within the Avengers. Their attacks felt futile, their efforts swallowed by Ebony Maw's superior prowess. Doubt seeped into their minds, threatening to undermine their will to fight.
But amidst the chaos, a glimmer of hope emerged. The Avengers realized that their greatest strength lay not in their individual abilities, but in their unity and teamwork.
They began coordinating their attacks, working together to exploit Ebony Maw's weaknesses. Iron Man distracted him with a barrage of missiles, allowing James to jump at him and slice Ebony Maw with the sword that had suddenly appeared in his hand. However, Ebony reacted quickly and used his powers to throw James backward, attempting to imprison him by manipulating the surrounding metal.
James also utilized his Deva Path ability to counter Ebony Maw's powers. However, his ability was not as advanced as Ebony Maw's, so he had to exert extra effort to halt his momentum. Nevertheless, James quickly retaliated by hurling his sword at Ebony Maw, attempting to injure him in any possible way.
Unaware of the sudden appearance of the sword, Ebony had a hard time dodging and deflecting it as the weapon seemed to have a mind of its own, following him wherever he went. Additionally, the sword's rapid size changes during the battle caught Ebony by surprise, showcasing James's Size Modulation ability.
Nevertheless, Ebony Maw persevered under the barrage of attacks.
James chose not to use the sword's other ability, known as 'Thousand Swords.' Using this ability would have posed a risk to his teammates, as Ebony had proven capable of deflecting such attacks.
Although the swords summoned by this ability would disappear once the attack was complete, their disappearance still required about 3 to 4 seconds, providing Ebony Maw with enough time to counter the assault.
At the same time Tony too fired his repulsors at Ebony, trying to open a gap in his incredible defense.
Thor threw his hammer infused with lighting, momentarily overwhelming Ebony Maw and providing an opening for James to deliver a powerful blow. James teleported and punched Ebony Maw's face which hit him squarely on his jaw, followed by Steve's Shield which hit him in the abdomen.
Ebony Maw had a strong ability, but his physical strength was not that strong almost comparable to James, although a bit weaker than him.
The two blows sent him sprawling to the ground.
"Puny insects," Ebony wiped the blood coming out of his mouth and growled angrily. He got up and once again attacked the Avengers.
The Avengers fought with renewed determination, their unbreakable spirit fueling their every move.
As the battle reached its climax, the arrogance of Ebony Maw wavered. The Avengers had proven their worth, their resilience refusing to be extinguished.
It seemed as though Ebony Maw would not be able to hold on for too much longer. However, with a sudden surge of power, he unleashed an attack that sent everyone sprawling.
Everyone, except James, crashed into the wall of the room. James, who had thought that he would be able to nullify the attack from Ebony, failed in his attempt. Thinking quickly, he teleported himself just before crashing into the wall.
"The time for idle banter has come to an end. It amuses me that you managed to resist for so long," Ebony Maw sneered with an air of malevolence.
