"Why are you shouting like that?"
"Did I say something wrong?" I don't really know what made him scream. Is it because I said I would introduce Erios as my son? Oh, so I hurt his pride.
"I'm really sorry, Duke," I said.
"W-what? Why?" he kind of stuttered.
"As I said, about mentioning Erios as my son."
"I know you are still young. You can have as many wives as you want, but if others know that you married someone who already has a child, it will ruin your reputation. So... I know I should have thought before speaking anything," I said, scratching my ear.
But he didn't say anything and walked away.
"Master, are you in trouble because of me?" Erios asked.
"If you can read my thoughts, why bother asking me?" I sounded annoyed.
"No, I didn't." As he said that, I felt guilty. No matter how old he is right now, he looks like a twelve-year-old kid who is still too naive to understand anything.
"Erios, come here!" I called him near me, and he came to me without asking anything else.
"Look, I'm not sure what you are thinking about me, but I will still say I'm not a suitable person to use you." Yeah, no matter how much I think, I still think he is connected to me because of certain situations.
"You can still tell me how we can break the connection," I said, touching his hair.
Yeah, he has completely silver hair, which gives me the vibe of the moon. His hair is long, reaching his shoulders, and his eyes are red, resembling the stone placed at the handle of the sword like a gem.
"You can speak your mind," I said.
I waited for him to speak when I heard another knock at the door.
"Who is it?" I asked.
"Duchess, it is me. I'm Yuna," she spoke.
"Why are you here?" I asked.
"The food is ready," she said.
"Okay, I will be there," I said.
I ignored her once more, but it didn't stop there.
"The duke is waiting for you," she said again, annoying the hell out of me. This is not the first time she has behaved so persistently, but it was a proper routine of hers when I first came to this place as the duchess.
I actually never cared about it because I thought there would be a day when they would listen to me. I thought that this must be a rule which was made by the duke himself, but no. In this place, no one prioritizes my likes or preferences but forces me to do lots of things.
"Master, should I kill her?" Erios made me land on a present.
"Erios, aren't you the holy sword? How could you talk about killing so carelessly?" I turned to him.
"Is there a rule that the Holy sword needs to not be touched by blood?"
"I'm not sure, but from the moment I knew about my existence, I was always drenched with blood. The first time I knew about my existence was when someone was holding me tightly while hot blood was dripping over my body, painting me red," he said.
But hearing him makes me feel sadder than him. He is showing zero expression, but my heart is aching a lot.
"Who was it?" I ended up asking.
"My creator," he replied.
"Creator?"
"Yes, the god who first came to existence."
"The god who was loved by the people because he was the only god presented in this place."
"He was getting called by many of his followers, but there were people who were calling him for their own selfish behavior, but he didn't care."
"As if his first motive for becoming a god is gathering his followers no matter who they are. No matter if he is on the pure side or the evil side. That is how I was created, with the god's blood, god's nail, god's hair, and god's element poured into me, turning me into a holy sword. But it was clearly not to make me holy. But... to eliminate the enemies of those evil people who summoned the god for their own benefit."
"Who was the god?" I asked.
"I can't say his name."
"Why?" I asked again.
"I only have the issue that I can't speak the name of my creator," he said.
Why? If the god created him, then people should know the name of the god who created him. Why can't he speak the god's name?
"Duchess, the duke is waiting," again, her annoying voice made me snap.
I got up from the bed and walked toward the door. As I opened the door, she fell on the floor as if she had been trying to eavesdrop on our conversation.
"How dare you try to eavesdrop?" my voice went cold.
"I didn't..." She was unable to complete her sentence, but I pulled her up by her hair, knowing how much it would hurt.
"You didn't?"
"There should be a limit to lying."
"Do you think I will just ignore it because this is the first day of me being here, and I will let you off no matter what you do? If you did, then you are wrong. I'm not a very patient person, but I'm someone who can kill when I snap my mind." My way of speaking sounded like that of a psychopathic killer.
"Just how many times have I said I will go? But what did you do? You kept interrupting my conversation. Is this how the head maid teaches you to behave towards your master?" I pushed her face against the wall, but it only made the wall look bad. I ended up throwing her on the floor when I saw so many guests at my doorsteps.
"What?"
"Are you all just going to stand there and watch the show?"
"If it is, yes? Then make sure to pay the price for it. Because it is not free at all."
