Chapter 29 - Familiar Face (Part 1)

Jotarou Kitagawa, better known as Mr. Kitagawa, had succeeded in his goals. As the leader of the Japanese faction of Antonov supporters, he had to carry out what others wouldn't dare to do. Lead a terroristic campaign against his own people, killing hundreds to thousands of innocent civilians in Antonov's favor. Being a teacher, his main goal was to bring about the security of the Japanese nation to prevail and educate the population, amidst a future collapse of humanity. What Antonov promised, a utopia where no wars existed, was what brought him to the position he's in right now.

"Tell me what the media is saying about the attacks."

Mr. Kitagawa, with an expressionless face, sat in a fortified bunker in an undisclosed location. The bunker was made by a Russian engineer and architect, who made it to hold weapons and munitions. After the attacks in Tokyo, Mr. Kitagawa decided to stay low. He knew that the Public Security Intelligence Agency would be looking for the culprits of the attacks, and he couldn't risk being caught. From the bunker, he had contact through encrypted phone lines with Antonov spies and other supporters.

"The media and the government suspect that Antonov has something to do with it. But making such an accusation to the de facto leader of Russia, who influences dozens of countries, would make Japan look bad. That's why they still claim that it was simply a domestic terrorist attack."

A man sitting beside Mr. Kitagawa said.

"Well, we will prepare for our next attack while we lose some of the heat. Also… what happened with that Bleed guy and infiltrating the military base?"

Mr. Kitagawa said as he read a newspaper.

"We haven't heard of them in some time. They don't respond to any type of contact. We presume that they deserted or got caught."

Said the man.

"Well, I'd be lying if I told you I wasn't expecting something like that. Thankfully, that guy was expendable. His other gang buddies are working with other divisions of ours, but they probably don't know what happened to their leader."

Responded Mr. Kitagawa as he put the newspaper down.

As Mr. Kitagawa grabbed a cup of coffee, he started hearing strange noises coming from the hatch above the bunker. The hatch was hidden by trees, dirt, and bushes, which would make it almost impossible for anyone to find. No other member of the Antonov support groups was tasked to go to the bunker. It was only Mr. Kitagawa and the man who accompanied him in the bunker.

"Do… do you hear that noise up there? Is anyone supposed to come here, right now?"

Asked Mr. Kitagawa whispering.

"No. It's probably some animal strolling by the hatch."

Responded the man without worry.

As the man finished his sentence, the hatch started to make squeaky noises. Suddenly, a strong rusty screech followed. It was obvious that the hatch was being opened. Mr. Kitagawa and the man looked at each other, and then hastily proceeded to grab rifles in the weapons storage. They knew that no one else knew about the location of the bunker, and it was probably another Antonov supporter, but they weren't going to risk any danger. The bunker they were in had most of their Antonov-provided weapons and ammunition in case of an attack.

"I don't know who that is, but if it's not one of us, shoot at will."

Mr. Kitagawa said as he positioned himself towards the entrance.

The man nodded.

Then, a strong metallic screech filled the bunker, meaning that the hatch had been opened. At this point, anyone at the top had access to the bunker. Mr. Kitagawa was so invested in defending the threat, that he forgot to radio for help.

As both men waited with guns pointing at the entrance, they could hear slow steps walking towards them. The slow footsteps echoed through the bunker. As the footsteps got closer, Mr. Kitagawa held the trigger as close as he could. The feet of the person who had infiltrated the bunker were visible, but Mr. Kitagawa decided not to shoot. As the shadow of the infiltrator revealed the incoming threat, the man accompanying Mr. Kitagawa shouted a single word without thinking.

"FIRE!"

As the infiltrator's face was revealed, Mr. Kitagawa shouted.

"DON'T SHOOT!"

The two fingers that were close to squeezing the trigger and killing whoever entered the bunker, had suddenly backed off.

"Is that you… Bleed?!"

Mr. Kitagawa exclaimed as he looked at the man in front of him.

"That's what they call me, Mr. Kitagawa."

The man who had opened the hatch to the bunker was none other than Bleed. But, he wasn't the same Bleed from before.

"What happened to the mission and the others… but most importantly… what happened to your face and clothes?!"

Mr. Kitagawa asked out of his astonishment.

"Long story"
