It was the weekend and Tokyo was as lively as ever. Tall buildings, billboards, stores, and restaurants filled the metropolis that was Tokyo. It was daytime, and there were people everywhere. Walking, shopping, eating, and using the train stations. But that day would become a day of terror.
"We're ready, sir. We have planted IEDs in over two dozen trains. We also have hundreds of bomber drones on standby for deployment in Shibuya, Shinjuku, Akihabara, and other districts."
Mr. Kitagawa, leader of the Antonov support groups in Japan, knew that causing the deaths of hundreds of his people was his last resort. As a former teacher, the last thing he wanted was to hurt and kill the people who he wanted to educate and protect. But in his position, these were the decisions he had to make. He was tasked by Antonov's intelligence agents to carry out a terror attack that would shake Japan into submission. All in the name of making a "utopia".
"You have my permission to carry the attack out. Do what you and the others need to do, I will stand by and watch."
Mr. Kitagawa said in an emotionless voice.
"Yes sir."
Shibuya & Shinjuku Train Bombing
The Shibuya train station was at its peak capacity that day. Thousands of people were transiting through the station like they normally did. Each train that came in and out of the station was packed.
A group of teenagers were traveling through the station, as they were in the middle of their domestic tourism outing. As they went into one of the trains, they sat in a corner where not many people were sitting. It was strange, but many people felt a strange aura from that corner of the train.
"Hey, let's sit here! It's less crowded."
One of them said.
As they sat down, one of the teens felt something hit their legs below them as they sat down. She looked below and tried looking at what it was.
"Oh, look at this! A paper bag! Maybe someone left something in here!"
As the girl reached into the bag, she felt something strange.
"Hey, what is this?"
As she pulled the item from the bag, a timer displayed a couple of numbers.
"00:05"
"This looks pretty cool, I wonder what it is-"
Suddenly, the item counted to 00:00, and an explosion emitted from the girl's hands.
*BOOOOOOOOMMMMMMM*
The train, full of people, exploded with pieces of steel and flesh flying all over the air. The train, still stationed at Shibuya station, turned into smithereens, and bystanders near the train were cut into pieces because of the sheer force of the flying debris. Suddenly, as the first scream could be heard, a chain reaction of explosions followed.
Trains near and around Shibuya station began exploding and shooting debris all over the crowded bystanders at the station. People looked in sheer terror as they saw everyone in and outside the trains turn into pieces as the explosions filled the air with the musk of burnt flesh.
Parents comforted their injured children, who cried from the pain of their injuries. Elders couldn't stand up from the shockwave of the explosion. Children and teens watched the carnage right in front of them. Crying, sadness, despair, and the smell of burned flesh were the only things that could be perceived in those 30 seconds after the first explosion.
In the Shinjuku train station, it was crowded as ever. One of the train operators was doing his job, as usual, when he received a faint message from his radio. He didn't understand it, so he asked the receptor to repeat what had been said.
"RUN"
As the train operator, standing in a break room far from the trains, interpreted the message, he suddenly heard one of the loudest chain reactions of sounds he'd ever heard. He fell to the ground, as he held on for his life as the room's windows shattered.
*BOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMM*
15 seconds had passed, and the explosions had finally stopped. As the train operator stood up, he saw something that marked him for the rest of his life.
The mangled pieces of the trains all over the floor, the number of people lying on the floor dead or injured, and the few quiet seconds after the explosions.
Suddenly, screams echoed all over the station. Cries could be heard from all angles. Some people ran to check on the survivors, if any.
Both bombings occurred a mere second after one another. In the minutes following the bombings, no one was able to accept what had happened. The intense shock of what had happened left most people without being able to comprehend what had happened. But the worst part had yet to come, and the clueless citizens had no idea what had just happened to them. The next part was about to leave an entire nation on its knees, and no one expected it…
