Chapter 18 - Becoming a Shooter (Part 1)

I had been assigned to participate in the "Shooter" training first. Nobody knew about me having to attend both Shooter and Swordsman, but I had to act like normal. I imagine they didn't want the other cadets to find out and be all jealous or suspicious about me being "special".

"As all you guessed, I will be the one training you and advising you in these Shooter class training exercises. These will be short, as our advisors need all of you prepped as soon nas possible. Now let's begin."

Sgt. Kimura was the Shooter class instructor, not to anyone's surprise. He was highly skilled with all weapons, especially firearms.

I had not noticed, but I still hadn't looked around and seen who was with me in this class. I was shocked to find out that most of the people in this class were males. Kenji, one of my classmates, was one of them. And there was someone else I knew, Daigo. The last person I wanted to take some class with, but since I had to take both, it was unavoidable.

There were only 3 other females in this class. The 3 of them looked way more serious and hardcore than all the other girls I had met.

Sgt. Kimura proceeded to walk over to a big table, where some blanket hid something underneath. He then pulled away the blanket, revealing what we'd be using from now on.

"Behold the most versatile, resistant, and accurate weapons in our arsenal! We chose a handful of weapons used in various armies in the world. The purpose of this is for all of you to try all the weapons of your liking in hopes of finding one that you can get used to shooting."

As Sgt. Kimura explained, that all the other boys around me had exciting looks on their faces. Don't get me wrong, getting to shoot a gun is pretty exciting, but they looked like they were kids in a candy store.

"MP5s, M4 carbines, Howa Type 20's, P90's, Uzi's, Vector's, you name it. The Shooter class focuses on close-quarter combat, and therefore submachine guns (SMG's) are better choices. But rifles like the M4 carbine can still be useful because of the bigger rounds and better range. It's all based on preference. Now cadets, choose any weapon."

Around me, I could see the other cadets unsure about what to pick. There was a table full of guns that barely any of us didn't even know, and now we had to choose one. I started to see other cadets walk over to the table and start selecting guns. I saw more than half of the guys choose rifles. Daigo as well.

"A rifle is a man's weapon. Bigger, stronger, and more lethal!"

I could hear Daigo talking to himself.

As I looked at all the weapons, one really caught my eye.

It was slick, black, and looked cool. I had seen it before in movies and video games. It looked like a submachine gun, as it was more compact than the others. But it still had a distinct look and aura that attracted me to it.

As I grabbed it, Sgt. Kimura commented on my pick.

"Good choice, cadet, that's an MP5. It's a great submachine gun, used by many special forces teams throughout the world. It's a beautiful weapon for a skillful shooter."

After Sgt. Kimura said that about my gun, I felt like it was the right choice. It was an SMG, but I felt like it was perfect, especially for close-quarter fights. As I looked at it in detail, Daigo looked over at my pick.

"You're a man and you're choosing that flimsy gun? Don't make me laugh! Real men use rifles!"

As a Daigo blabbered, one girl came over my way and picked an MP5.

"This isn't some flimsy gun. It's a weapon to commit quick and efficient assaults. An elegant Grim Reaper on the battlefield. You barely know anything about guns, you brute."

The girl said with confidence.

"What do you know?!"

Daigo responded in anger.

"My dad is American, and he used to own a gun shop there. So trust me, I know. So how about you annoy someone else?"

"Whatever…"

Daigo said in embarrassment.

This girl chose the same gun as me, praised it, and then shut Daigo down.

"Hey, don't let anyone judge your decisions. MP5's are great weapons."

I nodded in agreement and saw her walk off. Now that was one hardcore girl.

After everyone had chosen their weapons, Sgt. Kimura then told us of the next step.

"Cadets, now that you have selected your weapon of liking, it's time for all of you to equip the Ricochet-Aim Assistance. I will teach you how to equip it, use it, and make use of it in order to become the most feared soldier in the battlefield, the War-Knight.
