Chapter 13 - 12. The price for your sons.

Xerxes was confused, truly he was. He knew Xian, more than anyone in the world, after all, he was her most pitiful victim. He had to endure her lasting stares and looks of disgust, her anger and her hate. The eyes she held at him when she was lashing him with her tongue and betraying his family with her actions. But the expression she had, eyes widened and skin flush and pale like a frightened deer, this expression he had never seen. She had the same white porcelain skin, those exotic-looking eyes, plump red lips and the most perfect nose, yet this was the first time he saw such a vulnerable expression on her face.

Even the way she cast her gaze down. Was she really telling the truth? Or was she even a better actress than he imagined?

Xerxes desperately wanted to know the result of the test but there was something he wanted to know even more, what her expression would be when they heard the result. No matter how good she was, she was still human, she would react honestly even if it is for a split second. So he watched her as she stared at the vice director, he did not want to miss anything.

The doctor finally looked up from the paper and cleared his throat. "According to the DNA test results, Xerxes, you are the biological father of the two boys," he said.

Zena shut her eyes and let out a soft sigh. So she didn't cuckold her husband, no... this woman's husband. She looked up and met Xerxes gaze, she could not understand the emotion he stared at her with. But she refused to look long enough to confirm, so she looked away.

"Well, now, that this is out of the way, let's discuss the way forward," Another suit clad man spoke. "Signing the divorce papers."

Zena's eyes shoot up and she looked straight at Xerxes, then at the jittery intern that placed the file before her.

The room fell into silence and every single eye was on Zena. The introvert in her screamed for help but she swallowed it down and kept her composure. She flipped the document open and continued reading where she stopped earlier.

"Your signature is needed at the end. I already told you," Xerxes stated with a very annoyed tone.

She looked at him. "I cannot sign this."

The discomfort and shock was palpable. But none of that measured up to the ire that masked Xerxes' features.

"What are you saying now?"

"I will have no access to my children. That's what it means if I sign this. I do not agree." She said.

"Ma'am, that is already a done deal. You signed off on them already.

"No, no, it says here 'with the divorce, Mr. Zhen would have full custody of the boys.' With the divorce. Considering the fact that my signature is not yet on this document, I will correctly assume that I have not divorced you yet. Is that right?"

"But you already took the money!" His mother yelled.

"Money?" Zena echoed. 'It just keeps getting worse,' she lamented.

"A hundred and seventy million dollars sits in your account. The price for your sons."

Zena's brows narrowed, and she laughed softly. "What the hell is so funny?" Xerxes said through gritted teeth.

"I just... nothing, it's nothing." She said. "I just don't understand what kind of mother would sell her children and what kind of father buys them."

"The only horrible parent is you!" His mother reprimanded her.

"I am simply trying to save my sons from growing up under the devil," Xerxes stated matter of factly. Zena lips parted at his statement but she quickly got a hold of herself.

"We have listed all your indiscretions in this marriage as well as the conditions to be followed for a peaceful settlement." The attorney continued.

Zena gazed at him and then at the file in her hands. She tried to go through as much information as she could under such intense gazes. "Defamation?"

"Oh, now are you not going to remember insulting my son on national television?" His mother spat, and Zena looked up at her with a blank look.

"I see." She said.

Xerxes watched her as he sat boiling. He knew she was going to do something stupid like this, but he couldn't even imagine this. Was this Xian better or worse? She was acting different, but she was still being a pain in the ass.

Zena kept reading. "Physical violence? I was abusive? Towards you?"

Xerxes jaw ticked, and he glared at her.

"Xian," he said, his tone low and full of warning.

" I making sure everything I'm being accused of is true."

"There is a video showing you inflicting pain on President Zhen," the attorney replied.

Zena's brows rose. To be honest, she had no respect for this woman, but hitting him? That was impressive. "Ah... I see." She said. "Just to refresh my memories, when did I hit him? And how?" She asked.

The attorney looked at Xerxes whose angry face never left Xian. He cleared his throat and spoke. "Well, you hit him in the nether regions."

'Nether regions?' Zena thought until suddenly it occurred to her. "I hit him in the balls?!"

"Xian!" Xerxes growled.
