Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 Adventure Accidents

"We better be getting fucking close." Slyonia yells to their childhood friend. Benji jumps slightly at the sudden outburst, not expecting them to yell so loudly when they're barely three feet away from them.

Benji is an average man who is about 5'6" in height. He's got bright yellow-orange eyes, and his curly ginger hair is kept short besides one little piece in the front which sticks out because it is white. He dresses like he's about to go excavate a fossil.

Slyonia on the other hand is almost 6 foot tall and has bright blue eyes. They let their red hair fall loosely over their shoulders. They wear a t-shirt and some leggings since they didn't want to be here in the first place, and they wanted to be comfy.

"We should be close." Benji answers looking over his shoulder at his friend. "You didn't have to come with me, you know? I would have been fine on my own." Slyonia gives him a small sigh and shrugs.

"Yeah, but I have nothing better to do today. Besides, if anything happens to you I'd be left to deal with telling your mother." Slyonia states with a small smirk on their face. Benji glances back at them sticking his tongue out. Slyonia narrows their eyes and starts to speak, "You-," but before they can finish Benji falls right in front of them. One second Benji is there the next he's gone. Slyonia rushes forward, stopping just shy of a deep hole in the ground. They lean over the hole looking into it. The hole is dark and deep, so they can't see the bottom of it. "Dupek, are you okay?" Slyonia waits for an answer with their heart feeling like it's going to explode. After what feels like forever, but is only about 20 seconds they hear a faint reply.

"Yeah, I'm okay." Slyonia lets out a heavy breath. "It's really dark down here, but I think I found it." Benji replies with excitement, lacing his voice. "You should probably try and find a different way down here." Slyonia contemplates what he says for about a second before they take a step forward and leap into the hole. They land with a thump barely even a foot in front of Benji. "Or just jump right in I guess." Benji says as he rolls his eyes and begins to head deeper into the cave.

"Finding a different way could have taken a while this was faster." Slyonia replies as they stand and walk to keep in pace with Benji.

The cave is dark and moist. There's not much sound other than the small trickle of water flowing off of the stone walls. They walk in silence as they explore the cave they now have no way out of. Benji runs his hand over the walls feeling the growth of different plants and the wetness of the water flowing down it. Slyonia is just studying their surroundings and trying to memorize each turn they take. They walk until they come to a room that has light shining into it.

"Look, that's probably our way out." Benji says quickening his pace to get to the next room faster. Slyonia stops squinting to see the inside of the room a little better. They shake their head after a few seconds, giving up and rolling their eyes. They jog attempting to catch up with Benji.

"Dupek, you shouldn't just run into random rooms like that." Slyonia scolds Benji as they enter the room. They stop walking as they see Benji just stop and stare. They begin to look around the room. The room is tall and has a singular barred window in it. The floor is cement blocks that have slowly cracked and have different forms of plant life slowly growing out of it. The walls are stone like the rest of the cave they have been in, but there's writing and multiple scratch marks on these walls. There's also a coffin in the middle of the room. It looks to be old but Slyonia doesn't get a good look at it since a scream from Benji distracts them.

"What's wrong? What happened?" Slyonia says running back over to Benji's side and grabbing his shoulders moving him out of the way. They look at the ground and there's a small blue lizard with little yellow eyes standing frozen against the wall. Slyonia glares at Benji. "It's a fucking little lizard. Why the hell would you scream like that over a fucking lizard!" The sudden noise caused the lizard to scurry away out of sight. Slyonia slightly nudges Benji, chuckling at him. "Don't tell me you're scared of a fucking tiny lizard?"

"I am not!" Benji protests. "It just startled me, that's all."

"Sure it did," Slyonia replies with amusement in their voice and rolling their eyes.

"What do you think this place is?" Benji starts trying to change the subject. He walks toward the coffin-like structure in the middle of the room.

"How the hell would I know? It was your idea to come here." Slyonia replies, going over to investigate the scratch marks on the walls.

Benji places his hand on the structure in the middle of the room moving the built-up dust and dirt around. He notices a latch on the side of the coffin-like structure. Benji stands staring at the latch wondering if he should try opening it. In the end, his curiosity wins and he places his hand on it. He pulls the latch out and then pushes it up making it click. He slowly grabs the outside of the coffin. Benji moves the lid slowly up. He adjusted his hand and a piece of wood sliced his hand. Quickly, he retracts his hand, hugging it to his chest. "Shit!" He yells as the top of the coffin slams closed.

"What the fuck did you do now?" Slyonia asks as they walk over to see what happened. They grab his hand, forcing him to show them his hand. "Dupek, you idiot that's a deep ass cut." They pinch the bridge of their nose while releasing a sigh. I guess we should find our way out of here and get your hand-" They stop mid-sentence when they hear new voices. They both look at each other knowing this area is far from civilization and no one else should be down here. "We should get going," Slyonia whispers nudging their head in the opposite directions as the voices grow louder. Benjii nods and they both hurry off down the new tunnel.
