Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 - Anxious Settlement and [Social]

A few more parties got transported into the safe zone. I wanted to make a good impression, so I tried to guide them through everything. I felt like Eliza would do a better job at it than Leonard since, for one, Leonard only looked average at best and Eliza was an above-average pretty girl. One may call me a narcissist, but I'm telling the truth as the owner of both bodies, and I'm using the advantages I have in hand.

Why do I do this? because I'm establishing a settlement for people to live in. I don't care about the dead since they can do nothing. I have my full support for the people living and those that still have the will to live, since they are important. It's easier to live within a society than to live alone. Beside putting people without will to live in bad moods, there's no point crying for the dead when they've already passed. It might sound ironic coming from someone who returns from death, but I have no desire to save them unless saving them is worth it. Howard doesn't outweigh the 5 members per party, and I think his sacrifice will save more people. As for Jacob, what can I do to save him? And he brought this upon himself, and I'm not responsible for it.

The next few batches are completely 5-person groups, within 5 minutes of arrival, another group appeared, and with their existence, I realized that there isn't just one Floor 1, it works like a server, when 1 entered Floor 1, a server was created, and 4 more people could join in, if another group came inside Floor 1 before the previous group finished it, it created a new server and repeated, simple as that.

I was wondering why the five-person party didn't apply to Haden's group, and through a series of questions, I realized it's because his group has activated the main quest and possibly blocked the Tower from changing the rule.

I asked the people to do their own things, and there was only so much I could do. From the guide and the [Floor] option, they knew I'm one of the floor owners, so I promptly directed them to Haden for him to handle since he got more Vigor than us, probably enough to handle these people.

They are adults, I assumed they had at least done some survival training in their lives, and I was partially correct, normal survival skills, but they need some modern tools, which we don't have at the moment.

Betty was still crying over her husband's corpse for hours now, and it's getting on my nerves, so I directed Eliza toward her and, with my most polite tone possible, asked her to take a breather to calm herself down. She surprisingly complied with my request, but I saw her taking the last fish from the campfire, it had been completely cooked, alright, and I already had my share. I just give them the spare wooden spears and lead them to the river.

As Leonard, I started making a grave for Jacob, near Howard's grave, I got a feeling that there were going to be many more like these two, so I dug a few more graves just in case. Marie recovered from her shock and is currently staying with Howard in his newly created house that he built with his minor deity power.

Jake was just lazing around near the campfire and watching it since he had nothing to do and I didn't want to bother the child with work. What adult would do that? He was traumatized enough for today by seeing 2 corpses—two too many for a positive child like him.

I know he is copying me to cope with the changes. The changes in the environment came as a shock to me too, but I couldn't remain shocked forever. I have a high degree of adaptability for the situation at hand, some work must be done no matter what, and staying in confusion won't help with that. We finished for the day and got some more fish to eat, Luckily, one of the people from the later batch is well versed in wild herbs and identified some that are edible and seasoned the fish with them; better than tasteless, I guess. There was no light beside the campfire. I have to go to sleep soon, and everyone seems like they have finished for the day. With nothing else to do, I suddenly remembered what I hadn't checked today.

A screen appeared for Leonard and Eliza, respectively.

This is a major secret leak. I didn't set these usernames, and I can't change them. This only happened to me. I asked Jake, but he said that was met with a (Username:???), and it asked him to type it down to access the options. His username was 'Change', just 'Change' I wonder what's going on with his head to choose those 1 words, but I guess they kind of encapsulate what he does. Of course, I sent a friend request to Jake, and he accepted it for both of my bodies. I've got another problem, Floor 1's owners have been changed to Time, Space, Change, Haden Johnson, and Marie Garcia.

A few days have passed, new parties have dropped inside the safe zone, and there are over 100 people here now. I helped the new batches by putting some now irrelevant people inside the graveyard, including Betty, a few days ago. I think I need to charge people for this service, but that's kind of a dumb move, I'll only let people enjoy these luxury goods until people become normal and rational again.

We're the owners of this floor, so we're kind of responsible for the people here, and I want to rebuild society.

Well, I've got a different plan, though I'm going to the next floor as everyone is still hesitating to go there, they've seen their companion die and don't want that to happen again. I have no such fear. So I volunteered to go up by myselves.
