Jake also told me the reason why floor 2 had such a steep difficulty curve was because it increased with the players' overall strength and only applied to floor 2 onward. If normal people were to go there, they would only see 15 goblins and a goblin chief.
The number of goblins didn't change when we were moving people up because 100 goblins with a goblin chief is the highest level floor 2 could allow, and I were enough to make the tower send us to the hardest difficulty.
'Now ain't that just great? I'm fucked, aren't I?' Were my thoughts when I heard him say that.
I was demotivated, well, that aside, there isn't a need to go to the next level right now, so I started the training arc for myself.
As a karate teacher, Haden knew how to effectively train our bodies, and I messaged him using the [Social] option to teach me how, he was still in floor 1's safe zone to lead the people there. He gave me a list of how to train my bodies, so I did that every day from that point on.
Floor 2's safe zone got one more floor owner, his name is Jacob Smith. I wonder, what with me being friends with people with J as the first letter of their names? Anyway, Jacob is a chill guy. The reason he's with us is because, while he was on floor 1, he got turned into goblin bait involuntarily by his party members. Somehow he managed to beat the rest of the goblins by using their own weapons, but he came to resent his party members for making him a bait and leaving him to die. All of them are still alive in floor 1's safe zone. Instead of getting his revenge, he just didn't want to see them anymore.
Jacob is a chad, he has worked many jobs and gained many life experiences in his 40 years of living. I prioritized giving him the floor owner's role because he deserved that much for helping us in the few days we were in the first floor's safe zone. I respect him and his skills, with his list of jobs that he has done, he is a man who is skilled in everything. I can't believe that he doesn't have a "Jack of All Trades"-type unique skill.
After a few days of lazing around because I had nothing interesting to do, I started finding more uses for having two bodies. Spend time exploring the uses of having two bodies, you might say, however, I'm not some extreme maniac to think of doing what you'd think, to myself, my mind rejects that idea.
But there are a lot of benefits to having two bodies. One of them is that I could give myself a lap pillow and feel it from two perspectives. It was alright, but awkward since I don't need to sleep. I'm just looking myself in the eyes for a prolonged period of time. What am I even supposed to do in that situation? So I tried to do different things like- Who am I kidding I got no idea how to have fun with this kind of scenario.
It was inevitable that I would have to wash myself. The way I do it is quite simple, as I just put water in my inventory, heat it up by changing the settings, and use it as a makeshift shower. Of course I do it inside a different cabin that I made, I'd rather not let anyone see me taking a shower.
As for the opinion I have about my bodies, I have no opinion, I have registered it in my mind that it is me, both bodies are me, and it's an inrefutable fact that I'm not possessing Eliza's body while she's still alive, Eliza is not the owner of this body anymore, what's left is me and me only.
The power that the unique powers inside this Tower hold is truly incredible. Just look at Jake, he's immortal as long as he has vigor. That's almost as cheating as me, he could do anything he wanted with his shape-shifting power, like a main character.
Of course I might have the power and story worthy of being a main character, the fact that I'm controlling two bodies and have space and time power is one of the indisputable facts that I might be some kind of main character, but I kept wondering why me of all people.
After a lot of pondering, I couldn't come up with an answer, and I'm fine with that. The question is maybe for later, who knows, I might even be a puppet of a plot made by myself in the future, I've got time power, so that's a possibility.
After a few days, I decided to do something productive, like go to that mountain. I brought a geologist with me to see if there was anything interesting there.
There were interesting things alright, there were a lot of ore deposits of many kinds there, so much so that I didn't bother listening to what he was saying and just asked how much I should take by putting it in my inventory and just took bits of everything.
While taking some iron, I found a gem embedded within one of the iron deposits. The gem was shining, so I was confused, and so was the geologist, Derrick. Nothing happened when I held it normally, but when I let it touch normal rock, the rock changed color and turned into iron, and it took 20 points of my vigor. It was interesting, so I took a few more from different ore deposits of different kinds.
Derrick tried to use the gem by doing what I just did, but nothing happened. I tried it with my other body, Eliza, and it worked. I asked Jake, Jacob, and Jenna to do it, and it also worked. But when I asked someone else to do it, it didn't work, so I came to the conclusion that only the floor owners could use it.
Interesting for sure, but since we have no need for it now, I just put them back in my inventory for later use, if we even have later use for them.
