The night breeze filled the air with less tension and fewer worries, Alice lay beside her mom but could not sleep, She thought of what to do about Rita but another crossed her mind"Valentino" She should finalize business with Valentino at least that she owns him and be free to do whatever she wants on her free days.
"Hey" Alice just couldn't wait until the next day so she picked up her cell phone and excused herself out of the ward to avoid waking her mom. She left and went outside the hospital under a resting tree, dialed on Valentino's number which he did pick up.
"Why do you call.?"Valentino knew he couldn't predict what was on Alice's mind.
"Let's meet up now" she stated with a loud and clear tone.
"What.?" he didn't know what to say to this request or should he call it a command cause it sounded more like it.
"I will text you an address. Meet me there in 20 minutes" She left the hospital from there, stopped a taxi, and went home to get some necessary documents for Valentino to sign on. She got to her apartment and used her spare key to gain access to the house. Theo was already fast asleep; his little snores could be heard in the quiet night. Alice entered her room and took a bath to smell nice and look good as well because she shouldn't lose guard on her appearance no matter where she was off to, so she had a change of cloth and wore a short, sleeves dress that fitted her so well and showed her curves from her hips up to her breast and shoulders. Did a little touch-up on her makeup, took what she came to collect, and left the same way she entered without making a sound or waking Theo but this time around she took her BMW X5 keys as well.
At first, Valentino didn't know what was going on and why she had urged on seeing him by this time of the night. He knew he had nothing to be afraid of so he took to his heels and got himself ready looking like he was ready to go to work cause he also believed the fact not to loosen guards on his looks. Once he was ready he zoomed off to the meeting venue.
Valentino was already seated in the restaurant Alice had sent its address. He waited for Alice not up to five minutes after his arrival and she was here. She walked over to a side in the place to scan all over for Valentino and was a bit amused by his mold of dressing on just a night meeting but anyway, he looked more like him.
"Hey", Alice sat down on the chair facing Valentino." Let's get straight to the point. She brought out the documents she was with and kept them in front of Valentino "Take a look at this and let me know if you have any questions."Alice waited for a reply from Valentino but he was mute.
"Why did you not pick up your calls when I called earlier today.?"Valentino busted out after a few minutes of keeping silent. Alice got dumbfounded "How come he still had this in mind" she thought to herself.
" Like I said I had important personal matters to take care of."She brought out a pen and kept it together with the documents in front of Valentino.
" What could be more important than your job.? Why can't you be serious and focused on your work instead of sitting here and making silly excuses"Valentino was fond of being a boss and controlled every one of his workers the way he wanted but he forgot one thing this time around, that Alice was not in any way his worker.
"Wow."Alice was stunned by the sudden eruption and the wrong choice of words but she took it in and replied "I see how much of a well-mannered person you are" She quickly stood to her feet and threw the rest of the contract papers she had with her at Valentino "You know what.? Am done with this, you can now sort yourself out." She walked as fast as she could out of the restaurant, got into her car, and drove off straight to the hospital. She was so furious she wished to have given Valentino a huge smash on his face and taught him a little lesson for his arrogance she just couldn't. Alice stopped at the hospital parking lot, whined up her car glasses, went over to the passenger seat, and changed her clothes to a hoodie she had put inside the car just in case of emergency exchange in clothes and held into her mom's ward.
"Alice.? Where are you coming from.?"Jamie's tiny voice was heard as soon as Alice stepped into the ward. She froze for some moment and didn't know what to say to her mom.
"I couldn't sleep so I went to get some air." She lied.
"No. You smell like you had a shower and got body spray all over you. Was it so important that you had to attend to it this late at night.? I remember asking you to go if your presence was needed earlier in the day."Jamie was a sensible woman and more reasons why the Fax family couldn't let her go.
"Mom, I only went to take care of something and am done with it Sorry I lied I didn't want to get you worried about me"Alice came closer to the bedside and held her mom's hands in apology for what had happened.
"It's fine since you said you have handled it but don't forget this, do not stress yourself with work, If work is so stressful you can stop working, I have money despite me being a slave I made lots of money even before they had turned me into a slave and am still making more money secretly just do not hesitate to let me know once you need anything I mean anything. I had also asked you to go back to the States but you refused, just take care of yourself for me just until I free myself from the Fax family and then I will be able to take care of my baby myself ok.? And know that mommy is so sorry for leaving you alone out in this cold world, I am so sorry baby." Jamie cried as she hugged her baby so taut and wished never to let go. Alice didn't know when tears started flowing again from her eyes down her cheek even after promising never to cry again.
"Mom it's fine, I will stay here in this country and wait for you and I will try my best to get you out as soon as possible. Just be strong for me."Alice wiped like she was about to lose someone dear to her and held her mom closer to her body.
"Come lay with me here, Come…!!" Jamie shifted in for Alice to lay with her on her sick bed. They held each other so tight like they were going to get separated while they slept. Alice fell asleep after her mom gave her a few pets on the back, and Jamie followed suit. They slept so peacefully like they had no worries.
