Chapter 10 - They were moving

After another week, Lian Qiang moved into the mansion.

Zhang Xi asked her, "Can you stay close to him all the time?" He was worried about his younger brother and wanted to make sure he was always safe.

Of course, at first, she did not agree because for her, it was too much. She even went to headquarters to asked the chief that she doesn't want this case anymore and give it to someone who could make a way to make this mission successful. She knows this is a big loss for her work but she's tired. This mission wasn't even exciting that made her so bored. She did nothing but read the newspaper inside the mansion.

The Chief immediately told her that she didn't deserve to be part of the Orphan Mission if she couldn't stand the case given to her. The Orphan Mission was a special organization that was created years ago. The Orphan Mission organization differs significantly from ordinary police forces. People who became part of the Orphan Mission organization, have a huge advantage over the ordinary police.

The Orphan Mission is a special part of the police. It's different because it's for people who don't have families. The government wanted to help these people give back all the food and housing they got when they were young. So, they made this group. These members do important jobs, different from regular police. While regular police come from all kinds of places and families, Orphan Mission members all have similar stories. This makes the Orphan Mission a unique group within the police force. This special group has its own school. Everyone in it must study for at least ten years. After that, they can start their training.

The Orphan Mission stands out in the police world, not just because of its members' unique backgrounds, but also due to their distinct training. Unlike regular police who undergo standard law enforcement training, Orphan Mission members experience a much more intense regimen. They are trained in advanced combat techniques, sharpshooting, and even cyber warfare.

This comprehensive training is due to the high expectations placed on them by the government. While a regular police officer might patrol streets or manage traffic, an Orphan Mission member could be called to handle high-risk operations, infiltrate organized crime networks, or even counter cyber threats. Their vast skill set, rooted in their special training, clearly differentiates them from the standard police force.

So, she felt guilty for what the chief said to him and he was forced to fulfill Zhang Jin's brother's request to protect him 24/7th.

There is nothing she can do, she already started it so she had to finish it.

Her room was just next to Zhang Jin's room which is good. So she can observe him well.

They were already on their way and she drove him to the school where Zhang Jin studied. She monitored him pretty well as she was allowed to enter the school. Fortunately, the school's guard recognized her and allowed her in.

When Zhang Jin's class ended, she suddenly felt something different around them. As if someone was following them, she can see it through her peripheral vision. They were on their way together to where the car was located. She directly shifted her eyes behind that made Zhang Jin stare at her in confusion.

"What's wrong?" He asked out of curiosity.

"Nothing. I just saw someone I thought I knew." She lied but still had a doubt who was behind them.

She immediately got into the car and he as well. She revived the engine and started to drive away. It's just surprising because wherever they turned, the white car always follows them, she can see it through the side mirror of the car.

"Can we make a quick stop at the mall? I have something to pick up," she inquired, glancing at Zhang Jin through the rearview mirror. As she gently braked, bringing her car to a pause, she couldn't help but notice the persistent vehicle trailing them, which also stopped a short distance away.

"Okay," he immediately agreed though his voice sounds so boring.

"Can you come with me?" She asked and he's confused. "This is part of your safety. I don't wanna leave you here." She explained when Zhang Jin was confused why she wants to be with him. He immediately realized that after she said it.

They entered the mall. She allowed Zhang Jin to walk ahead. While he was engrossed in looking around, she quickly checked over her shoulder, scanning both left and right.

A man was watching them from behind, sending chills down her spine and creeping her out. However, when she looked again, he had disappeared, having run off. This put her on high alert.

"Zhang Jin, I need to go to the comfort room. Don't go anywhere just stay here I'll comeback immediately." She lied, not letting him know what she's up to. When she already went her way to the comfort room, she directly deviate her way to where that man went.

She moved swiftly through the mall's vast hallways, sensing an unsettling presence. Her instinct told her that the masked man was somewhere close. She reached a more isolated part of the mall, near old storage rooms where not many people ventured. Approaching one of the storage room doors, she noticed it was slightly ajar. Hesitating for a moment, she decided to peek inside. To her surprise, the masked man was already there, hiding, waiting for her. Their eyes met, and he looked as startled as she felt.

He let out a sigh and said, "Didn't expect you to find me here, did you?" Even though she couldn't see his entire face because of his mask and cap, there was a taunting smirk in his eyes.

Lian Qiang's heart raced. The close confines of the storage room, the dim lighting, and the presence of this mysterious man all combined to make her anxious. Yet, she stood her ground, the adrenaline making her feel more alive and alert. Whatever was to come next, she was ready.
