When she knew she was already ready, she went out of her room and went down the stairs. She immediately rested in her living room and put her things first next to her.
She quickly grabbed the new gun on her side from her holster, the one she got from her cabinet. The other one was left in the mansion. She doesn't even know how to even start locating the enemy on her own. She didn't know anything else about how to find out information about the Black Wing Society, the notorious group.
That masked man yesterday was creeping her out. It crept her out because if she didn't noticed he was behind them that might cause her case mission to fail. She wants any information about them as soon as possible. This mission of her wasn't just about protecting Zhang Jin but also she must know what they're up to and what they really want them to get from Zhang Jin.
As she was about to went outside, she immediately picked the backpack and put it inside the car in the passenger seat. Since, she's out from her work now and she knows Zhang Jin was in the mansion.
Picking up her phone, she dialed his number, hoping to hear his voice and ascertain that he was safely within the confines of his home. After only a brief moment, the dial tone was replaced by Zhang Jin's deep voice, "Hello?"
"It's Lian Qiang," she quickly clarified, realizing they hadn't spoken over the phone before.
A momentary silence passed before he responded, "Ah, Qiang. What's up?"
"Just making sure you're at home," she said, trying to keep her voice steady.
Zhang Jin's chuckle was soft, barely audible. "You're checking on me? I'm touched." sounds sarcastic.
"Just answer the question," she retorted.
He sighed, "Yes, I'm at home. Safe and sound."
The confirmation brought her an undeniable sense of relief. Knowing he was safe allowed her to concentrate on the tasks at hand. She ended the call and put her phone inside the car as well. Before she locked the door of her apartment, she made sure everything was all set. She immediately went inside the car and dragged to the place they always go.
In the middle of his drive she immediately called Liu Xian through her earpiece. The soft hum confirmed its connection.
"Liu Xian," she spoke through the earpiece. A momentary pause, then a familiar voice responded. "Lian Qiang, what can I do for you?" She took a deep breath, feeling the weight of the mission pressing down on her. "I need a drink. Meet me at our usual spot?"
"Wait a minute. Where are you?" he asked in confusion about the woman's sudden invitation.
"I was away from the mansion. I got the things I needed from my apartment" she answered.
"But how about the 'prince'?" he asked, she rolled her eyes to his question.
"I left him there and warned him not to get out. So, are you going with me to our usual spot?"
There was a short chuckle on the other end. "It's been a while since we've been there. Give me twenty minutes. I'll be there."
Lian Qiang smirked. "See you there." She adjusted her rearview mirror and seat comfortably as she drove to the bar, hoping for some relaxation.
Lian Qiang parked her car and went into the bar. She saw a few people she knew and sat down at a table near the window. She ordered a drink and kept looking at the door, waiting for Liu Xian. Soon, Liu Xian came in. He looked around, saw Lian Qiang, and walked over to her table.
"You're on time," Lian Qiang said with a small smile.
Liu Xian laughed, "I didn't want to be late." They started talking about different things, enjoying their time together.
People from the bar, especially women glanced at his presence.
No wonder, since, Liu Xian is really handsome and he's in his twenty one years of age. He's tall and has a strong build. His black hair always looks good and his warm brown eyes make many people look twice. His face is sharp and clean, with a chin that stands out and that adds to his look. Even though he doesn't smile a lot, when he does, it lights up his face and makes him look even more attractive. He dresses nicely, and this shows off his fit body. Everywhere he goes, people notice him especially when he's in the headquarters, other member of the Orphan Mission and even police women were tripping over him because of his good looks and the confident way he moves.
Women envied Lian Qiang because Liu Xian's attention was always on her. People wondered if Liu Xian liked her, but he remained silent about it. Meanwhile, Lian Qiang had no interest in what they were saying.
Soft music played in the background as people chatted and laughed. Lian Qiang and Liu Xian sat in a quiet corner, their drinks in hand.
Liu Xian took a sip of his drink and looked at Lian Qiang. "Busy day?"
She nodded, "Yes, had to follow up on some leads. It's been a hectic week."
Liu Xian chuckled, "Tell me about it. Had to handle three assignments back-to-back. I'm just glad this day is over."
Lian Qiang raised an eyebrow, "Three assignments in a day? You must be exhausted."
Liu Xian shrugged, "It's the job. But, yes, I am tired. That's why I'm here, to relax and forget about work for a while."
She smirked, "Yet, here we are, talking about work."
He laughed, "True. But with you, it doesn't feel like a burden." he jokingly said but he really meant it.
She smiled, appreciating what he said. They clinked their glasses together, toasting to another day done and the bond they shared.
As they continued talking, Lian Qiang noticed Liu Xian trying to hide his hand under the table. She saw some dark marks on his skin, like he had been hurt.
"Hey," she said, pointing to his hand, "what happened there?"
Liu Xian looked down, a bit surprised she noticed. "Oh, this?" he said, trying to sound casual, "It's nothing, really. Just some bruises from the three assignments today."
Lian Qiang frowned, "That looks painful."
He gave a small smile, "It's part of the job. It'll heal."
She nodded, understanding, but still worried about him. They went back to their drinks. As they chatted and drank the beer. Qiang suddenly got a call from a patrol officer. She immediately picked up the call while looking at Liu Xian.
"What?!" She immediately screamed at what the patrol officer told her. People around the bar were shocked about her sudden scream and so was Liu Xian.
