Chapter 24 - CHAPTER 24: REVENUE ADMINISTRATION DEPARTMENT (RAD) 2

He was even more surprised when he saw the home register; after all, it wasn't every day that he saw a lady who ran her own household.

He swiftly took down a few notes before returning the household registration to Tapiwa and saying, "With this process completed, you only need to wait three days and come back to collect your certificate. Once you've received your certificate, you may use it to apply for a business stamp and any other documentation you'll need to run your firm. It will also come in handy when asking for a loan."

"I appreciate the information. I truly appreciate it," Tapiwa expressed her gratitude.

"Haha, I was just doing my job. In addition, when you come to receive your certificate, you must pay a tax levy of 1 bronze coin. You will also receive a list of future fees that you will be expected to pay to RAD."

"I appreciate you informing me. I'll bring the money when I return three days later."

There was no reason for her to stay in the office once she had spoken about everything, and at the same time, someone was knocking on the door. As a result, Tapiwa had to depart.

She thanked George one more time before departing from the office in a cheerful mood.

As she walked outdoors, her senses, which had been heightened by the awakening, picked up on something quite interesting.

"Heh, who is that woman who was being served by Overseer George?"

"She's got to be someone special. It's unusual for him to serve people so cheerfully."

"We must keep an eye out for whoever she is in case she returns. We wouldn't want to screw up and bring the demon's wrath down on ourselves."

"Aren't you worried he'll overhear you?"

"Hmph, I'm a long way away. How can he hear what I'm saying?"

"In any case, get back to work. Let's not set him off."

Tapiwa's interest in George peaked after hearing all of this. She wasn't interested in him before. After all, not all men should be nasty and domineering. It was also natural to meet a few wonderful folks like him.

However, through listening in on these RDA employees' talks, she learned a few critical details about George. He was certainly unique, and contrary to what he had shown, he was capable of transforming into a demon if provoked.

It also reminded her of how she hadn't noticed him when he approached her earlier at RAD. She didn't think much about it at the time, but now that she was sober, she realized there was something fishy about him.

However, as long as he does not cause her harm, she can gradually strive to understand him or simply avoid him. She was also a person with many secrets, and prying into the lives of others was not a good thing.

Tapiwa left RDA and stopped at a few stalls to buy some spices before returning to the inn.

When she arrived at the inn, she was surprised to see two other visitors sitting in the pub, enjoying some drinks.

And the person entertaining them was Ba Michaels, whom she had not seen since waking up and leaving earlier that day.

Tapiwa smiled at the kind elder man and said respectfully, "Good evening, uncle."

Ba Michales gave Tapiwa a friendly smile. It wasn't every day that he saw such a respectful guest who regarded them as elders rather than just a proprietor, "a wonderful evening to you as well. How did your day go?"

"Everything went swimmingly, uncle. Where is Aunty?" Tapiwa inquired, looking around.

When asked about his wife, Ba Michaels said kindly, "She is at the main house. You are free to leave and freshen up. She'll come looking for you."

Tapiwa nodded and agreed, "OK, I'll just do that," before leaving Ba Michaels to his guests.

After she left, the guests being entertained by Ba Michaels gazed attentively at the departing shadow and then back at their host, their eyes reflecting their curiosity without saying anything.

"What is it?" Ba Michaels asked, noticing the stares aimed at him.

"Uncle Michaels, who is that lady?"

"How long had she been in here?"

Ba Michaels was perplexed as he listened to these mischievous guests who were regulars at his shop and would stop at least once a month throughout their travels.

"It's not necessary for you to know who she is. She is also older than you. If you want to hook up with someone, go to a brothel." Before leaving the tavern to find his wife, Michaels chastised the young guys.

The two young men were perplexed after being chastised rather than enraged.

"I'm becoming more interested in her. What do you think, uncle is reluctant to reveal her identity?"

"I'm also curious about that. After all, there's no reason for folks like us to be anxious about our age."

"What I'm curious about is who she is. There's something about her that makes me assume she's one of us."

"Are you sure you sensed it correctly?"

"That's why I'd like to confirm it first before proceeding."

"Let us then wait. After all, we'll be here for a while. It's not like she'll be stuck in her room during our visit."

When it came to a census, the two young guys agreed and chose to wait.

Tapiwa, on the other hand, dashed into the store, where she grabbed a can of Cola and gulped it down swiftly.

The chilliness of the liquid rejuvenated her entire body, and the exhaustion from walking evaporated completely.

Tapiwa took care of her physical requirements first before returning to the inn's room.

When she was finished, she carried her spices downstairs to look for Ma Michaels.

It was finally time for her to put her cooking skills to the test and earn that coveted first pot of gold.

She couldn't take the thought of only having 10 bronze coins in her wallet.

She noticed strange gazes directed at her the moment she stepped onto the first level, and she immediately turned her head to see who was gawking at her in such a terrible manner.

When her gaze fell on the perpetrator, she scoffed before making her way to the back to look for Ma Michaels.

'Lustful perverted children! Who do they think they are?'

The curious brothers, who hadn't had a single perverse thought towards Tapiwa, inadvertently became lecherous individuals in her mind, causing a significant misunderstanding that would take some time to clear out.
