He took her hands and made her sit on his lap as he continued to watch the TV like nothing happened, totally oblivious to his actions. Zaya, on the other hand, tried to get up because she thought that he would be in pain from the weight of hers.
"Sit down." Kabir said to her as she stood up and put her back on his lap.
"But my weight, wouldn't it be too much? Won't you be in pain?" Zaya asked with care.
"Just stay there. You don't weigh much and you are as light as a feather on my lap." Kabir answered with his eyes on the television.
"How do you know?" Zaya asked as she tried to get up again.
"I know." Kabir said as he put her back on his lap and wrapped his hands around her waist.
It took him a minute or two before he could finally process his thoughts and see what had happened. Even at that, he decided to go with the flow of it.
"Zaya, the medicine." he said to her. He pulled his gaze away from the TV and stared at her.
