Chapter 12 - Volume 1 - Chapter 12: Class Selection and Evolution?

"I am not a good person." When Aaron uttered these words, everyone, including the soldiers who had no malicious intent in their eyes and actually wanted to protect people, was terrified of this young man standing before them.

"I apologize for having to witness this. I dislike bad people, and I even despise those who have tainted me," he said in a calm manner.

Though people were frightened of him to some extent, they could understand why he was doing this.

"It doesn't matter; we owe you our gratitude. First, you provided us with food and aid kits, and now you have...removed those who harmed us. Thank you," said the middle-aged woman whom Aaron had personally helped.

He was quite surprised by her words. He knew that the world had changed, but he never expected it to change so drastically and swiftly. After the middle-aged woman spoke, everyone, including the soldiers, agreed with her. They knew he was doing the right thing and that he had no fear of the consequences. As a result, they began to hold a great deal of respect for Aaron.

"Aaron Light Corbyn has achieved the Honorable Hunter rank. Charisma stat increased by +15."

Aaron was achieving rank after rank today, and this was not the end because in almost 5 minutes, it would be midnight (00:00), and the class mission would be completed, allowing him to finally choose his class.

The evil soldiers had all left the tower upon the commander's death, and most likely, they would meet their demise. However, the remaining soldiers had apologized profusely to the people. They felt a tremendous guilt for what they had done. Until now, they had carried out all their actions under the orders of the commander and the other wicked soldiers. But the people knew that some of them had been sharing their food rations and supply kits with those who had suffered from their bullying. As Aaron had said, not all of them were bad.

Five minutes quickly passed, and a large system notification appeared in the sky:

"Scenario 1 - Mission 2 - Kill One of the 4 Boss Monsters in the City.

Mission Reward - Class Selection.

Mission Penalty - Experience Loss.

Mission Content - There are four boss monsters continuously respawning around the city in predetermined locations on the map. Kill any one of them alone or with a team.

Mission Duration - 15 Days (Mission Ended)."

The mission had ended, and immediately after its conclusion, the people around felt themselves growing weaker, at least those who had gained experience and levels by killing the monsters.

"What's happening to us?!" asked a soldier to Aaron.

"As the mission states, you are facing the mission penalty. Those who have leveled up are experiencing experience loss, while I, having slain a boss monster, have earned the right to choose a class."

Everyone listening understood what was happening at that moment. Of course, experiencing the pain of losing experience was less agonizing than fighting a boss monster and dying. That much was certain. But whether the current pain and groaning were worth it remained unknown.

Meanwhile, a system window formed in front of Aaron, displaying nearly 40 classes. He was quite surprised since he hadn't even considered the possibility of such a thing. He immediately began searching for his previous class, Death's Ally, from his previous life. After all, all the classes he had in his previous life were death-related, and he still looked at them with interest.

He examined each and every class but realized that none of them resembled anything from his previous life. He was quite disappointed by this realization, but he also knew that he had to find another class that suited his personal style of combat. That's why he continued browsing the list, albeit not very quickly.

After approximately 5 minutes of class elimination, Aaron was left with two classes in front of him: "Element User" and "Destruction Sovereign."

Both classes possessed destructive power and the ability to cause devastation, with only one difference. The Element User had excellent control over themselves and could either bring things to destruction or heal them, while the Destruction Sovereign simply destroyed and had no healing effects.

It was apparent which one would be chosen, and knowing this, Aaron silently touched the Element User. Suddenly, the area around him began to glow, and a system notification appeared.

"Element User accepted.... ERROR!

Attainment of specified elemental affinity.

Element User (Normal) ----> Soldier of Elements (Rare) evolution.

Attainment of specified elemental affinity.

Soldier of Elements (Rare) ----> Commander of Elements (Epic) evolution.

Attainment of specified elemental affinity.

Commander of Elements (Epic) ----> Sovereign of Elements (Legendary) evolution.

Attainment of specified elemental affinity.

Sovereign of Elements (Legendary) ----> God of Element (Godly) evolution."

All these notifications kept popping up one after another, blocked by another. Each time a notification arrived, energy fluctuated around Aaron, and the darkness of Nyx emanating from his body disappeared for a moment, replaced by a radiant glow.

The people around were in agony and still struggling to understand what was happening. It was impossible to comprehend, even for Aaron himself, who was busy trying to unravel the mysteries.

"What is happening?" Aaron wondered.

"Sir, are you alright?" shouted one of the soldiers.

"I'm fine. Please step back a bit. I don't want anyone to get hurt," Aaron replied. Upon hearing this, the soldiers and other people moved about five meters away and watched him attentively.

This phenomenon had been going on for about five minutes. Nyx's darkness was dissipating momentarily, and Aaron's body would momentarily shine. The surrounding energy fluctuated and changed, as if the elements were dancing around him.

Lost in his thoughts, Aaron suddenly realized, "Of course! I have an affinity for all elements, so the specified affinity has been achieved. My class is undergoing its own evolution!"

This revelation explained everything. Due to his unique affinity status, the Element User class was evolving into the highest level, the God of Elements.

The energy fluctuations around him and the glowing of his body stopped after about 2 minutes, and another system notification appeared:

"User of Elements -----> Ascended to God of Elements. Welcome to the world, God of Elements." Upon reading these words, Aaron shouted aloud, "Pardon!??"

The people around were already shaken by the transformation of his body, and now they were even more surprised by his sudden scream.

"What's happening? What does the system mean?" Aaron thought, genuinely bewildered. He quickly opened his profile and stared blankly at the screen.

Aaron's profile had undergone significant changes. First, the class mentioned in the occupation section, "warrior" and "mage," were replaced with "God of Elements (Godly)," and in addition, the attributes "Space" and "Reality" were added to the attributes section.

''God of Elements (Godly)

It is a class created from the remnants of the once-existent elemental goddess, maintaining its existence as the one and only in the universe.

Enables the use of superior levels of elements (all forms of fire and colors, dark ice, crimson lightning, blood, healing water with healing plants, and many more).

Possesses an invincible destructive power and provides a 5% increase in damage against all elemental attacks.

Grants a 10% affinity towards all sacred or normal animal species related to elements.

Gains 2% immunity to elemental attacks based on levels.

Activates the Magic Defense stat.

The user can use elements at will and does not require any specific spell. They have the ability to create any desired spell at the cost of a certain amount of mana (only twice in 6 months), and if the created spells drop as a book from any future boss monster, the cost of the ability decreases by 30%.''

Aaron was on the verge of losing himself and fainting. The fact that a single class could have such profound effects and actually be "DIVINE" as stated in the class description seemed surreal to him. Perhaps this was the second gift bestowed upon him by the gods. They seemed to truly desire Aaron to live a comfortable life. They granted him the ability to use elements at will, which was perfect because it essentially gave him the opportunity to enhance the ability of the goddess Nyx.

Nyx had already granted him the power to manipulate darkness, and now, what he had obtained allowed him to elevate that ability to its maximum potential. How? By expanding the range of the ability to manipulate darkness, it provided him with the opportunity to protect everyone on the battlefield, including his teammates. This class had the potential to impact not only Aaron but also his allies. The scope of its influence was immense.

If the previous elemental users in his past life had known about this class, they would have surely gone mad. That was how powerful and majestic this class was. Its effect could rival that of Nyx herself. After all, as stated in the class description, it was created from the remnants of the one and only elemental goddess. This explained why this class was so formidable. With each level and strengthening, Aaron was getting closer to becoming a deity.
