Chapter 29 - Chapter 29

As the fight raged on, the moon's glow filtered through the shattered windows, casting a surreal illumination upon the chaos. Sweat mingled with blood on the combatants' brows, their breaths ragged as they pressed on against the odds. With every strike and evasion, the very air seemed to pulse with the raw energy of their struggle.

And then, in a climactic burst of power, Shinobu channeled the essence of her vampiric abilities. Her form seemed to blur as she moved with unprecedented speed, her strikes a blur of motion that overwhelmed her adversaries. Lupin's howls and Vergil's grunts of effort filled the room as they fought to withstand the onslaught.

In the final moments, as exhaustion threatened to overcome both lupin and vergil while shinobu hasn't shown any hint of exhaustion. The moon's glow bathed them in an ethereal light, both vergil and lupin forms silhouetted against the wreckage of the home. The battle had been an arduous one, and while Shinobu's victory had been evident from the start, the struggle had left an indelible mark on them all.

Undeterred, Vergil and Lupin launched another assault on Shinobu, their determination unwavering. Yet, this encounter held a stark contrast to our previous skirmishes. Shinobu's response was nothing short of astonishing; she merely raised a single slender finger to thwart both attacks with a swiftness that defied the laws of sound. There was no hint of strain or stress on her composed countenance as she effortlessly neutralized our combined assault.

A stifled yawn escaped her lips, and she voiced her boredom with an air of indifference. "Yawn, this is growing tedious. Perhaps it's best to conclude this now," she remarked casually. One finger from her hand continued to intercept Vergil's and Lupin's strikes, her movements almost nonchalant. Simultaneously, she raised another finger to her lips, muffling her yawn.

In a breathtaking instant, both Vergil and Lupin were sent hurtling through the air at an astonishing velocity. The impact against the wall of a nearby house was so forceful that it resembled the thunderous detonation of a supersonic explosion.

Lupin and Vergil groaned in pain, Hermione's hurried footsteps echoed in the distance as she rushed towards us, her wand poised to cast a healing spell.

"I am casting an healing spell on you now" Said Hermione.

But my attention was momentarily diverted from my own discomfort as I replayed the astonishing display of power by Shinobu in my mind. It was surreal. A petite girl who appeared as innocent as a child had just taken down two grown men with brutal efficiency, sending them hurtling through the air like ragdolls. The sheer force and precision of her actions were mind-boggling.

Turning my gaze towards where Lupin and Vergil had landed, I marveled at how they had been outmatched by this seemingly delicate powerhouse. It was difficult to digest the fact that someone who looked so unassuming could possess such incredible strength.

However, my thoughts were abruptly interrupted when I turned my head to find Shinobu's piercing gaze locked onto mine. Her eyes bore into me, and a shiver ran down my spine. It felt as if she could see right through me, like a predator locking onto its prey. Fear gripped me so intensely that I tightened my grip on Mavka's hand, unintentionally causing her to yelp in pain.

"Ouch," Mavka exclaimed, and I quickly released her hand. "I'm sorry," I mumbled, my voice trembling. I had completely forgotten about her in my panic.

Mavka, however, was quick to reassure me. She rubbed my head affectionately and whispered that I shouldn't be afraid of Shinobu. According to her, Shinobu had a kind side, and the more I got to know her, the more I would discover her good qualities.

My expression must have betrayed my anxiety because Mavka observed my worried look. In a voice barely above a whisper, I blurted out, "If this is her good side, then I can't imagine how terrifying her dangerous side must be."

Before Mavka could respond, a voice from behind me startled me out of my wits. "I see, that's how you see me, huh?" The voice sent a jolt through me, and I leaped away from Mavka, my heart pounding. I turned to see who had spoken, and to my astonishment, it was Shinobu herself.

A whirlwind of thoughts raced through my mind. Did she hear what I had just said? How had she managed to approach me without my noticing? Was this the moment she would exact her revenge? My voice quivered as I stammered, "Did you hea-r wh-at I had jus-t..."

"Now he's really done it," came a voice from the other side. It was Jade, her lips covered by both hands, a sly smirk lurking on her face.

Hermione, who had been preparing to cast a healing spell, had heard the commotion. She turned her head towards us, her expression filled with concern, and quickly moved in Shinobu's direction. Panic surged within me as I continued to tremble, awaiting Shinobu's response.

Shinobu, however, remained silent, her inscrutable gaze fixed on me. Her lack of words heightened my fear; I had no clue what she might do next. Desperate, I turned to Mavka and began using frantic eye gestures, silently pleading with her to come to my rescue.

Mavka, in response, returned my gaze with a reassuring look and made similar eye gestures, indicating that I shouldn't worry.

Suddenly, a deep and exasperated "hmmph" broke the tense silence. It was Shinobu. Her disapproving sound made Hermione halt her steps, and it sent another wave of fear coursing through me. Everyone in the vicinity seemed to hold their breath, waiting with bated anticipation for Shinobu's next move.

It was clear that Shinobu had something to say, and her silence had only magnified the impact of her impending words.

The moment Shinobu walked toward me and placed her hand on my shoulder, I could feel the weight of her words sinking in. The intensity in her eyes told me that this was not an ordinary request but a command. She spoke with an air of authority that was impossible to ignore.

"Your intense training starts tomorrow," she declared, her voice firm and unwavering. "Vergil will teach you how to use a sword, while Lupin will instruct you in hand-to-hand combat." Her words hung in the air, and I couldn't help but feel a mixture of excitement and trepidation.

Getting stronger would make rescuing my parents and sister a reality, but I didn't know how harsh the training I was about to receive would be but the desire to rescue my family was so strong that I was determined to grow stronger, regardless of the training's intensity.
