Chapter 33 - Chapter 33

As I watched Dante's perilous descent, a strange and intense sensation began to build within me. It felt as though my very core was ablaze, a burning energy coursing through my veins. This sensation was unlike anything I had ever experienced in my thirteen years of existence, and it flooded me with a profound sense of power. In that critical moment, it seemed as though I possessed the ability to protect my brother from the impending tragedy, as if my body had become a conduit for this newfound energy.

As this sensation engulfed me, time itself seemed to warp and slow, as if the universe had granted me an eternity in mere seconds.

I closed my eyes, then opened them once more, and a radiant light burst forth. My very being seemed to pulse with newfound energy as my body emitted an ethereal glow. Astonishment coursed through me, but there was no time to dwell on the miraculous transformation I was experiencing. My focus was drawn to a far more urgent matter, the perilous plight of my twin brother, Dante.

Before my eyes, magnificent wings unfurled from both sides of my back, their iridescent feathers gleaming like a surreal masterpiece. It was a sight that defied belief, a manifestation of powers beyond my comprehension. Yet, I instinctively knew that this was no mere accident; it was a gift, a responsibility bestowed upon me by fate itself.

Dante, my other half, was plummeting to what seemed like certain death, hurtling towards the unforgiving abyss below. I couldn't afford the luxury of questioning the origins or limits of these newfound abilities. The urgency of the moment was a pressing weight upon my heart, propelling me into action.

With every fiber of my being, I willed my newfound powers to respond to my desperate plea. I wished with every ounce of my being to rescue my brother, to snatch him from the clutches of the abyss that threatened to claim him. And then, as if the very universe had heard my cry, the impossible transpired before my eyes.

Dante, who had been plummeting at a breakneck speed, his life hanging by the thinnest thread, came to an abrupt and miraculous halt in mid-air. It was a surreal suspension of reality, as if time itself had been rewritten to spare him from the impending doom. His body hung there, suspended in the air, a mere meter above the unforgiving ground that had nearly claimed him.

The rush of relief and gratitude that engulfed me was overwhelming. I had defied the laws of nature, harnessed powers I couldn't comprehend, all in the name of saving the one person who mattered most to me in this world, my twin brother, Dante.

My wings, which had borne me through this extraordinary feat, still shimmered with a luminous radiance. They felt like an extension of my very soul, an embodiment of the newfound purpose that had ignited within me. But there was little time for introspection or celebration. Dante dangled in the air, still in danger, his life hanging in the balance.

Summoning every ounce of determination, I commanded my wings to move, to carry me to my brother's side. They responded with grace and power, propelling me towards him with a speed and agility that defied reason. As I drew closer, I reached out, my hands grasping for his outstretched arm

Our fingers touched, and in that instant, a surge of energy coursed through me. It was as if our connection, our bond as twins, had been amplified by the very powers that had saved him. With a strength that surpassed my physical limitations, I hoisted Dante back to safety, his body coming to rest on solid ground once more.

We lay there, side by side, catching our breath, our hearts pounding in tandem. The enormity of what had just occurred was beyond words, beyond comprehension. I turned to my brother, our eyes locking in a silent exchange that spoke volumes.

I broke the silence and asked Dante, "Are you okay, Dante? I hope you didn't get hurt anywhere." Dante looked at me in silence, not fully comprehending what had just happened, but he nodded his head in response.

A sigh of relief escaped my lips, and I told Dante, "Don't scare me like that, Dante." But before I could finish my sentence, a loud crash echoed from behind us, and we both turned to see our mom with a look of fear and concern on her face. She rushed toward us, taking our hands firmly in hers, and hurried us into our home.

"My darlings, start packing your things. We don't have time; we need to hurry out of here," my mom urged.

"Honey, honey, the worst has happened. Trish has used her power," she exclaimed, her voice filled with panic, as she climbed towards my dad's room.

I sensed her unease and suspected that my use of this strange power might be the cause of her urgency. I couldn't shake the feeling that I had done something wrong.

I decided to follow my mom, intending to ask her if I had done something wrong. However, when I reached my dad's room, I realized they were in the midst of a conversation, and I started eavesdropping.

"Honey, Trish has activated her powers. I thought you said the seal would be strong enough to hold their powers until they're 18 years old," my mom said.

"It was supposed to hold them, honey. Gabriel promised me it would," my dad replied.

"Gabriel? Do you really trust him that much? Don't you think you've been deceived, honey?" my mom questioned.

"I trust Gabriel, honey. We've been best friends since our time in heaven," my dad explained.

"Honey, let's forget about this. Let's start packing our things and relocate to somewhere far away, maybe even another planet, because our location has been compromised. You know, honey, the angels and demons won't waste time tracking us here," my dad suggested, as he began packing his belongings.

"Okay, honey, let me go get the kids," my mom said as she turned towards the door. As she opened it, she spotted me standing there and immediately asked, "Where is Dante?"

"I left him downstairs, Mom," I replied, my mind racing with questions and concerns about the strange powers that seemed to be at the center of our family's turmoil.
