Chapter 34 - Chapter 34

"I trust Gabriel, honey. We've been best friends since our time in heaven," my dad explained.

"Honey, let's forget about this. Let's start packing our things and relocate to somewhere far away, maybe even another planet, because our location has been compromised. You know, honey, the angels and demons won't waste time tracking us here," my dad suggested, as he began packing his belongings.

"Okay, honey, let me go get the kids," my mom said as she turned towards the door. As she opened it, she spotted me standing there and immediately asked, "Where is Dante?"

"I left him downstairs, Mom," I replied, my mind racing with questions and concerns about the strange powers that seemed to be at the center of our family's turmoil.

I started running towards the stairs to go down and look for Dante, and as I approached the stairs, I saw Dante there. Something crossed my mind; maybe he had heard Mom and Dad's conversation because the looks he was giving were obvious. We are twins, and I know when he has something to say or when he is lying.

"Dante, did you hear what Mom and Dad were discussing in their room too?" I asked him, even though I already knew the answer to my question from the gestures he was giving out.

Dante turned his head, avoiding eye contact with me, trying to avoid giving me an answer.

"Kids, we don't have time for this; we need to hurry downstairs to pack our belongings," my mom said. Her voice was mixed with panic and fright.

"What about Dad? Isn't Dad coming with us?" said Dante, giving a surprised look because he didn't see Dad leaving his room with us.

A sad sigh and gesture were shown on Mom's face. She stood there quietly for 30 seconds before she could reply to Dante by saying, "Dante, you shouldn't worry. Our Dad has an urgent visitor that he needs to see; he will follow us from behind when he is done," my mom said, with some tears dripping from her eyes, but she cleaned them in an instant.

I knew something was wrong somewhere, but I didn't have time to think about it because with the way Mom was hurrying us up, I didn't think I had time to ask further about our Dad's whereabouts. As we began running downstairs, I looked through the window and behold, I saw Dad outside talking with some people wearing white with white wings. I thought to myself, maybe these are the visitors my mom was talking about, and I turned towards Mom and continued running downstairs to pack up my things with my brother.

After we had done packing up our belongings, Mom was already dressed in another dress. She wore a black outfit with a black hat on her head. She carried two briefcases containing our clothes in them. She held out both hands and said, "Let's go." The moment she said this, I began wondering how using these strange powers had put us in this predicament.

I let out a sigh and said, "Mom, are we going to be okay?" I said with a worried expression on my face.

"Don't worry, dear. Mom will always protect both of you," my mom said with a smile on her face, which made all my worries go away in an instant.

I looked towards Dante, and Dante did the same. We both smiled at each other. I felt a feeling of assurance because Mom's hands that were holding both of us were filled with comfort and assurance, making us feel safe.

Mom ran upstairs again, and we ran towards our dad's room. We went inside, Mom let go of our hands, and she started opening my dad's cupboard in his room, saying, "Where is it?"

"Mum, is anything wrong? What are you looking for?" I said with a voice of concern.

"Found it!" my mom shouted.

I looked at her hands and saw a stone with a skull design on it. My mom smiled at it and said, "I am heading your way with my two kids; you guys should be prepared."

I looked at my mom with a surprised look, wondering who she was talking to. The stone she held was unusual, and its presence in our dad's room was puzzling. But in that moment, my concerns were overshadowed by the urgency of our departure.

As we made our way towards the door, I couldn't help but steal another glance at Dad through the window. He was still engrossed in conversation with those mysterious people with white wings. Their presence was unsettling, and I couldn't shake the feeling that something extraordinary was happening.

Dante and I exchanged silent glances, our unspoken thoughts filled with curiosity and concern. Our mom had always been there to protect us, but this situation felt different, almost surreal.

"Mom, who were you talking to on the phone?" I finally gathered the courage to ask as we hurried towards an uncertain future.

She glanced at me with a mixture of sadness and determination in her eyes. "It's complicated, dear. But trust me, we'll be safer where we're going."

I nodded, still unsure of the path we were embarking on. The events of the day had unfolded so rapidly, leaving me with more questions than answers. Yet, the unwavering resolve in my mom's voice gave me a glimmer of hope.

We reached the front door, and my mom opened it, revealing a world that seemed different from the one we had known. There was an air of secrecy and urgency surrounding our departure, and I couldn't shake the feeling that our lives were about to change in ways we couldn't even imagine.

As we stepped outside, I took one last look at our old home, uncertain if we would ever return. With a heavy heart, I followed my mom, holding Dante's hand tightly, as we continue running with my mum with our each one of our hands being held by her.
