Hughes family.
After Sir Hughes watched the video, he angrily smashed the teacup in his hand and gripped the armrest of the chair tightly with his withered and thin hand.
"Betsy Russell, she really has some nerve," Sir Hughes sarcastically said as he glanced at Chloe Lindsey lying on the hospital bed, then comforted her, "Lindsey, don't worry, I believe you. This video must be a fake created by Betsy Russell to prove her innocence."
Chloe Lindsey sat on the bed with tearful eyes, looking gratefully at Grandpa Hughes, and weakly said, "Grandpa, maybe it's my fault that she's trying to tarnish the Hughes family's reputation…"
Look at that, how tactful Chloe Lindsey's words were.
Although she appeared to be apologizing on the surface, she was actually trying to drag the Hughes family into the mess. She knew Sir Hughes cared most about the family's reputation and wouldn't think twice if it was related to that.
"Betsy Russell!" Sir Hughes gritted his teeth with hatred in his eyes and dialed Betsy Russell's number on his cell phone.
"I'm sorry, the number you have dialed is temporarily unavailable …"
Frustrated by the sweet voice of the customer service representative, Sir Hughes hung up the phone and called Jared Hughes, but his phone was also unreachable.
Naturally, Chloe Lindsey saw Sir Hughes's angry expression, and with a clever roll of her eyes, she said in a submissive manner, "Grandpa, it doesn't matter if I'm falsely accused."
"How is that acceptable? You are a good child of the Hughes family, and I will never allow that damn Betsy Russell to slander you!"
Sir Hughes, of course, didn't believe the video was real. He knew Lindsey well, having watched her grow up under his care since she was a child. It must be that mysterious Betsy Russell who framed Chloe Lindsey.
Unable to reach Jared Hughes's secretary, Sir Hughes impatiently rushed to the Hughes Group himself and called Jared Hughes out of a meeting to the president office.
"Grandpa, why are you here?" Jared Hughes stood beside him, looking at Sir Hughes sitting on the sofa, and asked.
"This!" Sir Hughes threw the tablet onto the coffee table, furiously saying, "Where is that damn Betsy Russell? Get her here right now!"
The video was still playing, and Chloe Lindsey's arrogant voice came out from it.
Jared Hughes's dark eyes dimmed, and he said, "I have divorced her. This video is genuine and has not been edited!"
"Nonsense!" Sir Hughes stood up angrily, pointing at the tablet on the coffee table, and said, "Lindsey is usually soft-spoken, how could she be this kind of person? Jared, even if you are divorced, Betsy Russell stirred up all this trouble, and I want you to take her to the ancestral hall to kneel as punishment and then apologize to the public to clarify the facts!"
"It was Lindsey who jumped into the water on her own." Jared Hughes's expression was cold. Although he had no feelings for Betsy Russell, he respected the truth, "She should come out and apologize for this incident!"
Sir Hughes's face changed color in anger, and it was obviously Betsy Russell's fault, but Jared Hughes still wanted to vent his anger on Lindsey. He furiously said, "You are terrible at judging people. If you don't tell me where Betsy Russell is, don't blame me for disregarding our relationship!"
Sir Hughes stormed off and sent his men to search for Betsy Russell.
Jared Hughes immediately asked Bill Treiber to secretly hinder Sir Hughes's men, but in doing so, he discovered something strange.
It was as if Betsy Russell had disappeared into thin air, her phone and bank cards were all gone.
She had apparently booked a plane ticket to the Capital, but she didn't board the flight, and instead, she seemed to have left Onn in Heather Scott's car.
After leaving Onn, the car disappeared without a trace.
Betsy Russell and Heather Scott mysteriously vanished like this, and Bill Treiber spent half a month searching in and around Onn, but found nothing.
Jared Hughes asked Bill Treiber to withdraw, as he was quite curious about Betsy Russell's ability to hide so well.
A month later.
Jared Hughes took Bill Treiber to an auction, wanting to bid on a sapphire to give to his mother as a birthday gift.
Jared Hughes and Isa Hughes arrived early at the auction, sitting in the first row of the VIP seats.
He lowered his head to look at the auction list on the tablet, seeing several antiques worth collecting, but he was fascinated when he heard Isa Hughes's panicked voice.
"Betsy Russell?"
Upon hearing Isa's words, Jared Hughes looked up to see her as if she'd seen a ghost and followed her gaze.
Betsy Russell and Heather Scott walked in laughing and chatting from the entrance of the auction.
Betsy Russell wore a purple floor-length gown, and in just over a month it seemed that she had changed, her black wavy hair styled into a European vintage look, a few strands of hair falling onto her sexy collarbone, making her skin appear even more fair and captivating.
