Life is really unpredictable. Who would have thought I would fall in love with him out of all the people on this planet. And the worst thing is that I can't even tell him. He's my best friend, who makes sure to remind everyone that we are "just friends" whenever someone asks.
He told me that he will be coming to my clinic today and I have been a mess since then.
"Woof!" Daisy my pet which I rescued last year barked indicating that he has arrived.
If someone who was more excited than me to meet Kabir would be her.
To be honest I am a little jealous of her for that. She can profess her love openly and still get cuddles.
Whereas if I were to confess, I don't even want to imagine the outcome.
"Is anyone there? The door seems to be open. Sigh! People these days are not afraid of intruders." Kabir knocked on the door as he said those words.
I rolled my eyes at him. This was my clinic, not my home. Of course the door would be open. As if he didn't know that already.
I opened the door wider for him. My breath was caught in my throat.
There he was standing in casual clothes with just T-shirt and jeans and still looking like the most handsome man I have ever seen. This was clearly injustice.
I compose myself before he could notice me staring at him.
"If you are here to steal something you will be disappointed because I have nothing in here."
He let himself in and I close the door behind him.
"Who said there's nothing here look at this gorgeous.." Before he could finish his sentence Daisy jumped on him.
"You don't have to try so hard to steal her." I said and he looked back at me confusedly.
"I mean she will go with you willingly. Even if you sell her she will help you count the money." I am not even joking she is whipped for him.
"What? Are you jealous that she loves me more than you?" he looked at me teasingly.
"Me and jealous who would be jealous of you? Have you seen yourself in mirror?" I retorted.
He hit the nail on the head but I will never admit that to him. I am more jealous that she can hug you now. Well that would be an understatement she just sticks to him all the time.
It's not like we haven't hugged before or he will find it strange if I was to do that. Still, it is different.
"Were you out of town when I was not here?" he asked me all of a sudden.
"No, why are you asking?" I replied as we both sat on the couch.
"Strange, I thought I saw you. Then it might be someone with a similar face to you. Let me show you." He took out his camera and I knew in that moment that whatever was going to come would not be any good.
He is a famous photographer. He's had some big shoot of some famous magazines which I know nothing about. So yeah, he is doing well in his profession.
"You must have been mistaken than. There is no one in this world who looks like me."
"No, believe me. You will believe once you see this photo." He insisted.
I rolled my eyes at him as if I didn't know already he is going to pull a picture of some animal.
"Look." He showed me the picture excitedly and I was shocked when I saw it.
It was a picture of some bat. I threw myself back on the sofa resigning to my fate.
Just because I am a vet he constantly tries to push my limits.
"What?" he nudged me slightly in the arms
"This is not even funny." I mean I could have indulged him before but now everything reminds me of how close he is sitting next to me.
And I still can't do anything about it. It frustrates me that he is still too far away.
