Chapter 30 - Chapter 29: Just a magic bow...? V. 5

The next day, I went to the blacksmith to pick up the bow I left to get repaired.

"Are you the owner of this bow?" A loud deep voice echoed through the shop leaving me perplexed as to where it was coming from.

A few moments later a Dwarf came out of the door behind the assistant's back.

"Uhh, yes..." I answered hesitantly

"I won't ask where you got this but be careful handling this bow, your mana will erupt if it doesn't deem you compatible."

"Can you give me a full description of the bow?"

"Its true name is Bow of the Serpents. It's a magic bow made from the scale of an otherworld serpent. That's all I can tell you, just check the rest of the stats for yourself."

"Hey, how do I unseal this?"

"Who knows, my job was just to repair it."

The dwarf left the scene and I exited the building. It said it can store a skill right? Then I'll put the divine arrows, but how do I pu-

{Divine Arrows successfully embedded.}

I just have to think of it and the system does it for me huh? The skill also disappeared in my skill window.

{The Serpent of Life deems you worthy of the bow.}

"What?"

{The seal is being undone... Bow of the Serpents unsealed.}

This is clearly cheating at this point but hey, I'm the main character here. A few moments after stepping out of the blacksmith, I saw the world spinning around. I tried to speak but I couldn't let my voice out. My vision starts to blur and before I completely pass out. I saw some people wearing heavy armor marching past me.

"Is he an accomplice of the blacksmith?" I faintly heard as my consciousness faded away.

"I don't know," a woman's voice... That's the last I've heard before blacking out.

{Immortality activated...}

I gasped for air after waking up again in front of the gates with the same scenery. I looked at my hand and I was still holding the bow that I got.

"Thank goodness..." I whispered to myself.

"Are you okay, young man? Should I bring you to the clinic first?"

"Ah no it's fine," it's not fine. I just died, AGAIN. After completing all those quests. How infuriating, I swear I'm gonna kill those knights who murdered me. How did I not even detect them approaching me?

'Hey system, something's weird. Have all the people been this strong?'

Let me try equipping the spear that I previously got.

"I think you need to be checked upon, young man. You've been making weird gestures since earlier," the old man looked at me wondering what I was doing spacing out in front of the gates.

"Ah, I was just collecting my thoughts... quite literally..." I responded. "I'll go make my way then," I bowed and headed inside.

"Are you sure going alone?"

"Yes," I waved goodbye and walked to the guild.

Before I forget, I should go back to the stall where I got the bow from and see if he has other stuff to offer.

I searched around the plaza but the vendor was nowhere to be found. I just went my way to the guild to get my identification badge. As I went through the door one thought rushed inside my head.

'If only I found this weapon sooner, I could've saved both of them...'

Every time I get a lucky encounter, I always blame myself for not getting them way earlier.

"Excuse me, I would like to create an Identification badge and I would like to sell these goblin parts."

"Yes, please fill up the necessary pieces of information while I trade these," she took the bag from me and I felt nostalgic and sad at the same time.

"How many times have I done this..." I smiled bitterly as I remembered the first time I was here and Elaina was still the receptionist.

After getting the Identification badge, I went on my way to the inn to think about what I should do next.

"Should I still be an archer? It kind of gotten stale and boring," I pulled out the spear from the inventory and it looked like an elegant spear with fancy designs on the shaft and a single large tip with two small ones at the side for the blade.

"Lancer, I think I'm gonna use this for a while. Although I wouldn't be able to use my skills."

'Hey system, is there still a significant damage drop for using other weapons?'

{No.}

We are off to a good start. For now, I want to rest and go get requests tomorrow. My mental fatigue has been building up.
