Chapter 56 - Starting on a good note

Etheral woke up once again by the ring of the alarm he set up for the moment that his new adventure starts. He rose from where he has left off, being a nice nap on the top of a roof and with a smile on his face took in the sun's embrace.

He could have warned the principal about his new found name, but it was too late for this, he slowly lowered on the streets before walking towards the academy, even if he could just teleport there, he preferred to stretch a bit before sitting in a room for knowledge that might or might not be interesting at all. But either way he has set things up for himself, and there was turning back, instead he can ditch if it's bad. It took him a while, but it was fine, he wasn't going to be late. But there was something bugging him off, he has read that the school has uniforms, and Nezu forgot to gave him one when he was welcomed into the hero course.

He entered without a problem, no security alerts, no nothing. But now he didn't know where to go, the dots were still unconnected, until he realized that the rooms in which the other examines took the written test were the classrooms. But he was never given more instructions. He was about to enter the building, before the door slowly opened. "Welcome back!" Nezu said struggling to push the door open. "Hello Nezu, nice seeing you agai~" Etheral tried speaking but was cut off shortly after. "Sorry I forgot to give you the instructions in which class you will be and the uniform. First and most important, you will be hanging with class 1A because I found it most suitable, given the fact that both class 1B and 1A are already full, so I kind of just added a small adjustment so you can fit in. No need to thank me, it's all part of the job." Nezu said keeping this smile, he was like a robot, programed to be this positive, or at least that was the kid saw in him. "You are running out of time, take this and if someone questions why you are not in a uniform, just gave them and let them read it." Nezu said giving the kid a small piece of paper with the words, "This kid has permission to wear normal clothes for today. (Nezu's signature)"

"Thanks!" The kid said taking the paper and putting it into his pocket.

"Say, can you come to the faculty lounge after class is dismissed, i still have to hand you a uniform?"

"Yeah, sure." He said going through the door which was still being held for him. They said their goodbyes, and the kid was on search for the room. At least he knew where the room could be, so he first went there. It was easier than he expected.

He entered the room and his presence was immediately known, as those who were already there looked at him, some shocked, but one annoyed, giving him the death stare. Etheral looked at him and smiled mockingly. "EY, Blondy. Nice to see you again!"

The boy didn't had any power over Eth, So he kept his mouth shut, even if his insides were fuming. Wanting to curse his heart out on him. "Anyways, Hello Everyone! I'm Etheral, It's nice meeting you." He said loudly with a welcoming smile on his face.

"Wait, aren't you that guy from the news?" A pink skinned girl jumped from her seat.

"The one and only..." He said with the same loud tone. Until he rethought what he said and his lowered the decibels "Actually, not the only one. But the most unique one at least."

"Didn't expect to have the chance to be in one class with you. My name is Mina Btw." The girl said, she seemed to have been really energetic through this short conversation.

"It my pleasure really, i expect to create great friendships with all of you." Etheral said, before turning the rest of the class. "Does someone else want to introduce themselves?" Those words were an invitation, that he is not a threat, as many would have said after his good deeds, even if some didn't seem heroic.

Then some introduced themselves, allowing him to have a way to call his newly found friends, most of them seemed nice. Some were pretending to be edgy, but pretty chill when talking in person.

In the meantime there was an argument happening, and the kid took notice of it. The blond boy and another were having an argument, which started because blondy was sitting with his legs on the desk.

"What's up with those two?" Eth asked his newly found friends, who turned their attention to what was happening. "No idea..." Mina replied

And afterwards a few new students came by, the presence of one of them broke of the mental fight happening between the two trouble makers. The conversation between them was pretty basic. "Well, time to make more friends." Etheral said with a friendly expression. The girl that came last was just as friendly in attitude as he was right now. Eager to meet everyone she said it out loud.

"If you are just here to make friends then you can pack up your stuff now." A man said, his voice was heard low, Eth walked to the side to see who it was and it was a man it a... Sleeping bag?. The thought was quite funny how he got here if he is in a sleeping bag now. 'Did he crawl like a worm?' He said chuckling slightly as he imagined the man just crawling face first, until they reached the door.

"Welcome to UA's Hero course..." The man said slowly unzipping the sleeping bag and eating?, drinking? Something from a factory made pouch. Strangely enough the kid didn't know how to identify the material, but it didn't matter. Most of the students looked at the person "It took eight seconds before you all shut up, that's not gonna work, time is precise. Rational students will understand that." The man while standing up and unzipping the bag from around himself. Stepping into the room "Hello, I'm Shota Aizawa, your teacher... Right, let's get to it, put this on and head outside." He said pulling out the UA sports uniform.

'Where do we put this on? Here?! They actually expect us to know the whole layout of the school...' Etheral exhaled some air not knowing what's up with the gapping holes in the logic. A worm man and then put this in front of everyone in the classroom. Privacy met.

Either way the students found a way to put the uniform on and everyone headed outside to the school yard. "Damn that's quite a spaced out place." The kid said while they walked towards where Aizawa was waiting.

Then Aizawa announced that there was going to be a quirk assessment test right away, the students wondered why.

"But orientation, we are gonna to miss it." The girl that came last said.

"If you really wanna make the big leagues, you can't waste time on pointless ceremonies... Here at UA we are not tendered to traditions, that means I get to run my class however I see fit. You've been taking standardized tests most of your life. But you have never got to use your quirks in physical exams before. The country is still trying to pretend we are all created equal by not letting those with the most power excel. It's not rational. One day the ministry of education will learn. Uh... You." Aizawa explained before pointing at Etheral. "Huh, me?" The kid pointed at himself. "Also it's Etheral."

"Etheral, you got the most points in the entrance exam. Could you give an example, with a soft ball throw?" He asked.

"Yeah sure." Eth said walking over to him, before Aizawa gave him a soft ball.

"Just stand in the circle."

"Mhhm." The kid didn't waste any time and lightly tossed the ball, but the moment it was about to hit the ground, it vanished and the word "Zero meters." was heard from the device that Aizawa held.

"Huh... I expected infinity, Wait a second, would you?" The kid said Falling on one knee and showing his hands through the ground before pulling it open. "If it's zero? Wait? Does the backrooms even exist? If it shows 0... shouldn't be infinity?" He asked himself quietly, before letting go. "I expected more..." Aizawa said somewhat disappointed. "Can we just take this as infinite, It depends where I send it, and stuff. Also the gravity of the place, the distance it travels. I Think the device is just bugging out." Etheral tried to explain, but Aizawa ignored it. "All of you need to know your maximum capabilities, it's the most rational way of figuring out your potential as a professional hero."

The students were talking amongst themselves wondering how it actually works. Eth's quirk is a mystery that no one can really solve, there is even a chance that it is not a quirk.

"You have three years in here to become a hero... Today you will be competing in eight physical tests go gauge your potential, whoever comes last has none. And will be expelled immediately." Aizawa said, to the shock of everyone.

"You can't send one of us home, I mean we just got here, even if it's not the first day... That's not fair." The same girl said out loudly.

"And you think natural disasters are?... Power hungry villains?... Catastrophic accidents that wipe out whole cities? No, the world is full of unfairness. It's a hero's job to try and come back that unfairness. If you want to be a pro, you are gonna have to push yourself to the brink, for the next three years UA, will throw one terrible hardship after another at you, so go beyond... Plus ultra style... Show me it's no mistake you are here." Aizawa said somewhat inspiring almost everyone, while Etheral was questioning how his power works. "Now then, we are just wasting time by talking... Let the games begin."
