Chapter 59 - The price of power

"Humph?" All Might turned toward Etheral, who was just sitting there. "Hey!" He said raising his hand in a friendly gesture.

"Aren't you going to go spectate the fight?" All Might asked confused as to why the kid was being so difficult and different than everyone else, but he wasn't the one to judge, so he simply ignored his confusion, and began expecting the opposite from him.

"Nah, I'm taking the best seat here. He'll, it's been mostly a boring day, so why not enjoy the best entertainment from the best seat? You know, i can literally be present in that building and they won't even be able to touch me... It's kinda sad actually, sometimes pain comforts... Anyways... I can ask you the same question, but I suppose that you will say that you are on your way so it's whatev." He replied leaned harder against his seat, before pulling out a bag of chips from a vending machine on level 6. 'Huh, i feel like i know what i am doing?...' He questioned how he knew so accurately to take the bag.

All Might didn't say anything further and just walked away. Etheral was left there thinking, and he thought about it, the fact that he wouldn't need to set up portals for him to see the battle. "Wait!" He stood up from his chair with one quick, smooth motion, before running after All Might.

After just a bit of walking he reached the room where he would be able to spectate, setting up a chair in the back so he doesn't have to look at the backs of everyone and after a bit more waiting, All Might announced the beginning of the first match, the kid took in the decisions of everyone and tried putting himself in the situation, but whatever it was, it all ended in them not even leaving a scratch on him. Making some one useless, by simply simulating not existing... Did he even exist? 'Silence!' His thoughts went numb as he continued watching, the match was quite entertaining, but there was a personal problem in the horizon, envy. He didn't had the limit they had for him to enjoy himself, yet his unmatched hack of reality was what was keeping him alive... 'Ironic... Perhaps I could find a way to put a limit while fighting and outside of it to be limitless? Yeah should try... But how?'

This was when All Might told about what he gave to the villains and the heroes, being the map of the floor plans, and capture tape. Eth placed his hand on his chin while looking rapidly from screen to screen, 'That's it, i ain't capturing the weapon, 1 on 1 fight till i capture them. No power usage while in a battle.' The building suddenly shook "Oy!" Etheral jumped as well as most of the other students. In the end both teams caused a lot of damages to the building, with the hero team being victorious, with a lot of damage done to them also.

Afterwards the results were reviewed, with Ida as the MVP. And Yaoyorozu gave an entire essay on why, it was quite funny when Eth took it this way.

The second match was quite boring, the heroes being Team B and the other team I. That edgy looking guy freezing the entire building... "Oh come on, That's just Boring." Etheral said out loudly in annoyance and confusion as to why someone would use their battle to win it in a few seconds.

"Wait aren't you scared of that guy?" Mina walked over to him shaking as everyone else. "You ain't freezing shit at the bottom of a thousands deep ocean, or an infinite void, or infinite spaces." He replied, revealing a possibility but not the whole picture, leaving everyone who heard that to theorize some more.

After this, more matches went by, and again and again, until it was finally his turn. The two were left of to a new building, All Might gave them the usual, Floorplan, and the capture tape. Luck was on their side... his. Since this would allow him to easily capture it, but either way he could protect it or take it easily.

"Mina, here's the plan, you stay here. I go and have my fun. Alright?" He asked with a smug grin. "Huh?! Isn't this also a team exercise?" She asked confused as to why he would deny help. "Trust me, make yourself comfortable... And not to be rude, but I don't need help..." He replied summoning her a foldable chair and opening it for her, before signaling her to sit down. She didn't listen and tried to protest. "Ok, ok... You can help..." He said somewhat disappointed and looking to the side ignorantly. Mina felt somewhat offended by it, this was when All Might said that the round has begun. And so, he and Mina slowly made their way up. He had the tape in hand ready to fight the team who were made to oppose them, being team D.

Most of the battle was spent in silence, before they began climbing the stairs, a blind spot and a tight space, two problems that mixed together make a nightmare. The moment they were at the last step a figure appeared before them, and attempted to blast them away, Etheral pushed Mina down the stairs but this would harm her badly so he sent her to his domain, in a second he knew that allowing someone to see everything would be a bad idea so he created a mirage of a sort, being this sky like place with puffy clouds acting like pillows. He quickly dodged the attack to the side, avoiding getting his face burned off, before wrapping the capture tape around Bakugo's hand in record times.

He exhaled some air knowing that this threat was neutralized, but was sad that he had to break his own rules, yet he was happy that she wasn't harmed in the process, so It wasn't a bit deal. He took time for his brain activity to slow down before pulling Mina out of his dimension. She had a dumbfounded look on her face. "No need to ask questions. Hope you enjoyed the moment while it lasted." He said as he walked upwards, checking behind every corner, behind every door. Until they finally found it, Ida being there with his villainous dialog. "Sup Ida!" Eth said, not expecting for Ida to fight, knowing that he was protecting the weapon when in his previous match. "Pop!" Eth made a popping sound as the weapon quickly sunk into the ground, before reappearing below him. "And, we are done here." Etheral said as his victory was announced, even if it was also a team exercise, the team part was just giving him more things to mind about, having him, think of how to protect his own teammates, of the mass destruction he can cause.

They returned to the spectator room, where the other students were already discussing who did the best, and this time it was hard to decide Etheral, didn't even try to be a hero, but a caring friend on multiple occasions. And Ida was still the most immersed in the subject, acting like a villain, even if he wasn't given the chance to fight or protect at all.

Etheral took his seat, and Mina joined the others as they asked her what she saw. Which allowed him to keep what he knows a secret.
