Alex's heart pounded with anticipation as he delicately opened the book. Its yellowed pages emitted a faint musty scent, a testament to the passage of time and the secrets held within. With trembling hands, he traced the faded words, feeling a connection to a long-forgotten world.
The book seemed to be written like a historical record as it talked about the origin of the supernatural species. The vampires and the ghouls. They were said to be the offspring of the same race, an ancient race of supernatural beings called the Sanguine race. They had gone extinct as the race evolved according to their environment to form the new races, Vampire and Ghouls
As Alex, he delved deeper into the intricate illustrations, he marvelled at the ethereal depictions of the beings with flowing crimson capes and fangs glinting in the moonlight.
The Sanguine species were said to possess incredible powers, a harmonious blend of vampire allure and ghoul ferocity without any of their weakness. His eyes widened with wonder as he read about their immortality, regenerative abilities, and their profound connection to blood and life flesh of the living.
The tale of Sanguine came to an end, but the book didn't. Alex found a small letter sandwiched between papers. It was blank in the front. He opened it to find a message left by his father to him.
My Dearest Son,
By the time you read this letter, you might have realized what you are, A half-blooded vampire. And I was a Normal Vampire roaming the world when I met your mother. But I won't talk about our boring story which you may have already heard.
As you read this letter, a mysterious force is rising, seeking to change the very structure of our world. It threatens the delicate balance between the mortal and the supernatural realms, endangering both humans and creatures alike. You, my son, are destined to play a crucial role in these tumultuous times.
Now, I ask you to flip through the pages of the book I left with this letter. Among its ancient texts, you will find a small red vial containing pureblooded ghoul's blood. It holds the key to unlocking your true potential, granting you the powers of a Sanguine Progenitor, the first of a new Sanguine race.
I know this decision is not an easy one, for it comes with the weight of great responsibility and the loss of your humanity. But as your father, I believe in your strength and bravery. You possess a heart that embraces both light and darkness, a balance that is rare and powerful.
If you choose to embrace your destiny and become a Sanguine Progenitor, you will wield powers beyond comprehension, powers that can thwart the rising force and protect the world from its malevolence. You will have the strength to stand against the darkness and bring hope to those in need.
But remember, my son, with such power, comes great sacrifice. You will have to face the loss of some human experiences, and the burden of safeguarding our world. I would have taken over the burden but only you can do this. Only half-bloods survive after ingesting a pure-blood ghoul's blood of the opposite species.
The choice is yours, my dear son. Take your time to reflect and weigh the consequences. Whatever you decide, know that I am proud of you, and my love for you will remain eternal even if I was absent in your life.
May the light guide you and the shadows protect you.
With all my love,
Your Father
Alex stared at the letter as a shock far beyond what he had experienced before engulfed him. His suspicion had been true. He was a Vampire. And that meant that his father was a vampire too. Other than that, he knew nothing about his father. Who he was or what he did do? Nothing.
But that wasn't the only shock that he had experienced.
"I am supposed to be a hero?" Alex questioned no one in particular as he stared at the wall. The letter had answered some of his questions but it had left him more questions than he had before.
Alex shook his head not willing to futilely brood over something that he did not know about. He then flipped through the pages to see if there was the red vial that his father had mentioned.
A couple of pages later, he discovered a small, intricately designed vial—a vial containing the heart blood of a pure-blooded ghoul embedded in the pages. Its luminescent ruby hue shimmered like liquid fire, bewitching and alluring. His father's message unveiled its significance—it held the key to unlocking his true potential, transforming him into a Sanguine Progenitor, the first of a new Sanguine race.
With the vial cradled in his hands, its warmth seemed to seep into his very being. Alex retreated to a quiet corner of his room, seeking solace amidst the gravity of his decision. The moon's soft glow bathed him, accentuating the determination etched on his young face.
His thoughts wrestled between his longing for a normal life and the allure of untold power. He thought about the loss of his humanity, and the darkness that would accompany such a transformation but it would also relieve him of weaknesses.
In the moonlit night, the vial's ethereal glow intensified, beckoning him towards destiny. It wasn't something that he had asked but it would give him relief from the insatiable hunger.
Finally, he made his choice.
Taking a deep breath, he uncorked the vial, and with unwavering resolve, he consumed the ancient blood within. An electric surge coursed through his veins, marking the beginning of a physical and spiritual transformation—the birth of a Sanguine Progenitor.
His senses heightened, and he felt a pulsating energy coursing through his body, intertwining with his very essence. In the reflection of his bedroom mirror, he saw his eyes radiate with an otherworldly crimson hue, a telltale sign of his newfound power.
