Once the signal had been given, the match had begun. The ten-second countdown had begun, and before anyone could even begin to imagine what might happen next, Patricia had suddenly disappeared from everyone's sight, leaving nothing behind her. Shawn quickly lept into the air, however, she was quick enough to see this and react on time, leaping into the air as well.
Just as she was about to grab hold of him, a smile had appeared on his face, leaving her just as confused as she was before, irritated as well. Just as she was about to grab hold of him, his body had disappeared, and all that she could feel in her hands was the breeze, as her body descended towards the ground. Just as she was about to sprint towards his position, a dinging sound could be heard, signalling the end of the ten-second countdown.
'What...?' she was left speechless upon realizing this. She had just been outwitted and outsmarted by a first year student, someone who she was meant to be superior to in every sort of way. How would her classmates react upon witnessing her fail to prove herself? She had already been bested by another first year student before. This time, she wasn't sure if they were going to make her loss lightly.
However, no one in the second year had uttered a single word. Everyone was dead silent, in shock from what they had just witnessed. They had just been publicly embarrassed in front of both their Juniors and superiors. She had just gone ahead to prove why she wasn't selected for the competition while she was still a first year student last year.
Meanwhile, the first year student broke out in loud cheers for their Titan two, who had just proven to them all that he was more than deserving of his title, being able to outsmart the most powerful student in the academy in just a matter of seconds. It was truely an impressive feat amongst the younger students.
'Stupid girl,' Shawn thought to himself, glaring at the back of Patricia as she walked out of the fighting area. She didn't quite have the same level of confidence she embodied while walking in. She seemed quite frustrated by her loss, as she quickly stormed out of the area, not wanting to lay her eyes on anyone at the moment. She was far too embarrassed from her loss to even go and meet up with the others. Instead, she had walked off to somewhere else. Since she had already performed her role for today, no one bothered her as she headed out of the first year building.
Shawn had made it back into the other room where the other first year contestants were busy watching watching his match on the digital screen. However, Steve was at a separate corner of the room, his head held down as he sat there in silence. Standing beside him was Josh, who was watching the match a little away from the others.
Upon seeing him, Paul and Kayden had walked over to congratulate him on his victory. Paul wouldn't stop teasing him about the savage remark he had given Patricia right before their match had begun, however, Shawn didn't seem interested in any of that at the moment, as his attention was currently somewhere else.
The next two contestants had been called to make their way into the Arena's fighting area. This time, it was meant to be Paul against a second year student named Gary. Walking into the ring, he now stood face to face with his opponent, and soon after, a dinging sound was heard, abd the match between the two had begun.
Using his tracker class ability, Gary had quickly teleported behind Paul, ready to jab his hand straight into his backside, however, Paul had quickly rolled against the floor, since his ability had told him where Gary was, right as he had appeared behind him, giving him barely much time to move his body away before the strike was made, missing its target completely.
'I've gotten way lot sharper abd better at using my ability,' Paul thought, as he quickly jumped into the air, avoided the second year student, who had teleported behind him once again to deliver the same attack. Right now, there were only three seconds left, which quickly passed by, as Paul had managed to dodge another one of those attacks once again, earning him a win as well.
So far, three matches had taken place, and out of those three, the second years had managed to win the first match, while the first years had managed to win the other two. Tensions were starting to rise amongst the second years, as they were starting to talk about the possibility that they might ebd up loosing this competition in the end.
First, it was Patricia, and now, it was Gary. They just hoped that no one else would loose their match, as they didn't want their representatives to bring more shame upon them. How were the first years supposed to respect and fear them if they end up loosing to their inferiors in a friendly match, of all things. They didn't care that this was all still training for the first years. They didn't want to face further embarrassment today.
Before the next two fighters were announced, the announcer went on to give everyone present the opportunity to either go to the restroom or do whatever it was they felt like they needed to do within a five-minute period before the next match would begin.
During this time, Kayden was busy doing his best to hype himself for his own watch later on. Seeing as both of his roommates had won their matches, he felt a need to win his as well, not wanting to feel weak around them. In the three matches that had taken place, the second year students Titan four, Titan one, and then lastly, Titan three, had fought, meaning that the remaining students who were yet to fight were Henry Ven, Andrew Cane, Serena Vine, Margaret Monica, Luke Silverly, Kan Brooke, and Ethan Reyes.
Also, from the first year students, those who were yet to fight included Kayden Williams, Kayla Ven, Dylan Vine, Sophia Monica, Josh Brooke, Hilda Skree, and lastly, Zain Devon.
Once the five-minute break was over, everyone was seated back on their seats, waiting in anticipation for the next match to begin. During the break, the students from both years decided to place bets upon the participating students as a way to make the match much more interesting, hoping that the person they had bet on not only wins, but that they earn some nice easy money today thanks to this competition.
The next two students who were meant to fight were announced, abd stepping into the Arena fighting area, we're two brothers, who looked each other in the eyes, waiting for the signal for the match to begin. Currently, Josh was standing before his elder brother Kan Brooke, whom he had always looked up since he was little, and whom he feared just as much as he feared his parents. However, today, he had no intentions of letting that fear get in the way of him securing a victory today. He was determined to prove to his family that he is the better son, starting with the fact that he had been selected for this competition in his first year in the first place.
Watching from the other room, Steve had gotten back up and walked closer to the screen go get a closer look at the match that was about to take place, standing right beside Kayden, who was also interested in the match as well. Right now, he was trying to calculate his chances of securing a win. On one hand, he had his Werewolf speed, which already made him faster than most basic grade beasts. However, his opponent today would be someone far stronger than a basic grade beast.
The match had begun, and Josh immediately activated his ability, using them to propel his body into the air, trying to attempt the same thing Shawn had done during his own match against Patricia. Doing the same thing, Kan came flying at Josh at a rapid pace, faster than most of the people present could manage to keep up with. Only those who were at the VIP area were able to make out what was going on, as Kan had quickly grabbed his brother by the throat before he could even see him coming, and placed his other hand against the latter's face, burning it with his ability. Charging his flames continuously, he was able to condense it, producing a bright blue flame that made quick work of his opponent, knocking him out and tossing him on to the ground within seven seconds. Everything had happened before the other students could even blink. What Kan had just displaced was speed unlike the others would usually see.
Of course, they were aware of his strength. He was the Titan three of the second years, who had fought Henry to a standstill, nearly securing a victory that day, however, it had given Patricia the chance to take the victory for herself, becoming the strongest Titan one at the academy.
