Ren walked through his local mall, scanning the shops for anything remotely useful. Ren peeked at his right hand, King was peeking out from under his sleeve, fascinated by everything around him.
'Never seen a human settlement this bustling and clean before?'
Ren smirked, covering his right hand before anyone sees the moving tattoo. He felt a little proud of the bewilderment in King's normally stoic face.
'It is impressive how you collapsed, despite having this much resources.' King replied, eyes glued to the bright advertisements around him.
Ren rolled his eyes, 'Yeah, yeah, you mutant beasts are the greatest. We humans never stood a chance.' Ren picked up a camping bag, and after checking its quality, he moved towards checkout.
King suddenly sat up, eyes fixated on something.
'Get that. Now'
Ren looked around, trying to figure out what King wants.
' "That" isn't very descriptive, give me a better description.'
King concentrated his eyes, suddenly, Ren was able to see what King was seeing.
"Whoa. What the fuck..." Ren muttered, feeling nauseated from the two different perspectives.
'That, what I am looking at.' King stared at dull stone in a old souvenir shop, never taking his eyes off it.
Ren walked towards the stone, picked it up and examined it.
'This is a normal stone, sure it's impossibly smooth feeling, but there's nothing special about it.'
King sighed, arrogance and pride was exuding from him.
'This is why you humans didn't survive long, that type of stone was a treasure to every top mutant beasts.' King explained, eyes glued to the stone.
'Even in my peak, I never dreamed of obtaining one of those.'
Ren closely examined the stone in his hand, 'So what is it?' Ren looked expectantly at King, waiting for the answer.
'This is a skill stone, it grants a special skill when used."
Hearing the explanation, Ren clutched the stone tighter, eyes burning with a renewed passion.
"Boss! How much for this stone?"
An old man turned around to face a strange young man, clutching a piece of rock tightly. "Eh? I picked that up on the way here, it's not for sale, I just liked how it looked." The old man answered.
"Can I have it then? I have a friend who collects these types of rocks." The old man narrowed his eyes in suspicion, taking a closer look at the rock in the young mans hands.
As the old man stared at Ren's hand, King moved back onto Ren's hand, staring back at the old man.
"AH, WH-WHAT IS THAT!"
The old man jumped, grabbing his cane from under the counter. Ren stared back at his hand, nothing was there. 'Oi, did you show yourself to him?' Ren thought, clutching his wrist tightly.
'...No'
Ren sighed, let go of his wrist and put on a bright smile. "What's the matter grandpa? Something wrong?" Ren asked, trying to appear as innocent as possible.
"TH-THERE WAS A MOVING TIGER IN YOUR HAND"
The old man shouted, pointing at Ren's right hand. "Hm? Are you feeling okay? Do you want me to call 911?" Ren asked, showing his right hand to the old man.
After making sure there were no moving tattoos, the old man breathed a sigh of relieve, "I guess I haven't been sleeping well recently, pay it no mind." the old man tried to put on a smile, while secretly keeping an eye on Ren's hand.
"I'm sorry to hear that Grandpa, Hope you get the rest you need at your age."
Ren smiled back, then showed the old man the ability rock, "So what do you say Gramps? How much for this?" King then walked back to Ren's hand, stared down the old man and growled.
The old man's eyes widened in fear, he put on a smile and faced Ren. "A-Ah. That's just a rock I picked up, if you really want it, you can h-have it."
Ren took a quick glance at his hand, King was no where to be found. Ren sighed inwardly, then flashed a big smile at the old man.
"Thanks grandpa, but I really don't feel right taking something from you, how about I buy this bag along with it?" Ren picked up the camping bag, handing it over to the old man.
"S-Sure, that will be 40 dollars sir." the old man said, eyes glued to Ren's hand.
After purchasing the bag, Ren walked out. Making sure he was a good distance away, Ren rolled up his sleeve after making sure no one was around.
'Hey, are you trying to get me in trouble?' Ren squeezed his shoulder where King was, forcing King to move.
'I got us an ability stone free of charge, you should thank me.' King growled back, glaring at Ren.
'Right, what if that old man reported us?'
Ren shot back, trying to catch King who is darting up and down his forearm.
'Then he would be regarded as mentally unstable. All I have to is stay still.' King replied, moving his way back up the sleeve.
Ren sighed, then shifted his focus onto the ability stone. His annoyance melted away as he looked at the stone.
'So what's the ability in this stone?' Ren rolled the stone in his palm, checking for any clue on the surface of the stone.
'You have to use it to know.' King stared at the ability stone. 'Eat it, thats how you inherit the ability, it is supposed to dissolve in your mouth.'
Ren stared at the stone, sizing it up. 'Well, I hope you know that you die if I die. So if this is poisonous...' Ren glanced at King, before slowly putting the stone near his mouth.
