"Congratulations my dear student. You are now the first inheritor of the reversal technique!" The old man beamed, opening his arms for a hug.
Ren breathed out quietly, before a red aura surrounds him. Just as the aura completes, he punches out as hard as he could towards the old man.
"DIE YOU FUCKING BASTARD!"
Ren shouted, charging forward at full speed. The old man cheerfully smiled and waved his hand good bye, causing Ren to lose consciousness.
"GASP!!"
waking up in the real world, Ren looked around with his hands balled up in a tight fist. Passerby's shooting him strange looks as he fumes in silence. Ren takes a deep breath and calms down, swearing revenge one day.
Noticing Ren was awake, King got up too. 'So? What skill did you get?' King asked, not noticing the murderous aura Ren was emitting a moment ago.
Ren sat back down on the bench. Then he began explaining everything.
'Fascinating, so that's how you gain skills through the ability stone...'
King looked at Ren in awe, jealous of the precious opportunity he was given.
Ren slowly got up, trying to walk off his anger on the way home. As he calmed down, he realized a crucial detail he was actively ignoring.
'How does the ability crystal and mana exist right now? The collapse isn't due in another week.' Ren asked, channeling his mana into his right hand.
'It's simple, The time crystal sent us back to the earliest existence of mana in the world. This means the collapse has already begun.' King explained, scanning the area for any more useful items.
"WHAT!?!?"
Ren shouted, lifting up his sleeve to look King in the eye. Ren then realized he was attracting to much attention, he rolled down his sleeve and retreated to a dark side alley.
'What do you mean the collapse has already begun?
There are no reports of monsters or supernatural occurrences yet.' Ren lifted up his sleeve to face King, waiting for the answer.
King looked back at Ren, he then focused his attention on Ren's phone and the telephone pole behind him.
'Look behind you, while there aren't any supernatural occurrences, missing people and kidnappings are all over the place.'
Ren checked his phone, alerts of kidnappings flood the notifications. The more he scrolled, the more dread fills Ren. Looking up from his phone, he looks around him, the telephone poles are all plastered with missing persons posters, the oldest being 2 days old.
"Why don't I remember this? This should've been a major story." Ren muttered, studying the posters around him.
'This must be general Dela's skill, She cannot control the minds of every human on earth, but she can make subconscious suggestions to the mana-less people. Although I imagine this would leave her very weak.'
Ren silently took this information in, before he hears a muffled scream coming from the deeper parts of the alleyway. Ren wasted no time before he sprinted towards the noise.
"RAAAAAAA!!! RAAAAAA!!!"
A young girl about Ren's age stood her ground against a mutant beast almost twice her size. The young girl had shoulder length brown hair, brilliant green eyes and fair skin. She was screaming and swinging her arms around at the mutant dog, trying to intimidate and scare the mutant away. Unimpressed by her attempt at intimidating it, the mutant dog lunged at the girl.
The girl froze when the mutant lunged at her, and just before the jaws of the mutant clamped down on her head, Ren pushed her out of the way.
"Ah!"
The girl fell onto the ground, watching Ren's shoulder and arm disappear inside the mutants mouth. The girl got up quickly and grabbed her backpack, she then swung her bag as hard as she could at the mutants head.
*Thunk* The bag hits the mutant straight in the forehead, causing no visible damage. The mutant loosened its bite on Ren and shifted its attention towards her, failing to notice the red aura building around Ren.
*BOOM* Ren punched out, blasting the mutants head off of it's body, it's head and skull splatters onto a wall behind him, leaving a stain on the wall.
"Phew, That was the first time I used that skill outside that demon's realm."
Ren massaged his arm, checking if the bite had gotten through. After he confirmed his well being, he looked around the mutant corpse for crystals.
The girl stared at the scene in shock, before mustering the courage to speak.
"Um, thank you for helping me. Is your arm okay?"
"Hm? oh I'm fine, a little bite like that can't hurt me." Ren flashed a smile, showing his bitten arm to the girl. "My name is Ren by the way, what's yours?"
"Olivia."
Olivia closely examined Ren's arm, after she confirmed that Ren was fine, she relaxed. She then curiously looked back at Ren.
"So do you do martial arts? You killed that bear pretty easily." Olivia asked, shifting her attention to the stain on the wall.
"Bear? Oh you mean that. Sure, I guess I used a martial art."
Ren replied, searching through the mutant corpse. "There it is." Ren picked up a small blue crystal from the corpse, pocketing it.
"I wouldn't recommend going though alleyways anymore, go where people are."
Nodding her head in agreement, Olivia's eyes paused on Ren's arm once more.
"If there are more of these in alleyways, you don't have to tell me twice."
Olivia focused her eyes on a tiger tattoo on Ren's arm, swearing that it just moved. She then looked away, convinced that she was just too shocked from the events of today.
Olivia then took a deep breath. *Thump* her legs gave out as she exhaled, and she falls to the ground. Startled, Ren rushes to help her up,
"You alright?" Ren asked, picking her up from the ground.
"Y-Yeah, I guess the shock and fear caught up to me."
Olivia replied, trying to compose herself. She and Ren began walking back towards the main street, with Ren helping her walk the distance. After making it to the main street, Olivia let go of Ren to face him.
"I think I'm okay now, thank you for your help today."
Olivia thanked Ren, slowly walking on her own again.
"No problem, anyone would've done the same thing. Get home safe Olivia" Ren said as he walked away, waving at her from a distance.
