Elaine's heart skipped a beat at his words, her eyes widening in disbelief. "What are you saying, Michael?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Michael took a step closer to the door. "I'm saying that I want to be with you, Elaine. I want to explore where this could lead, if you're willing," he said, his voice filled with sincerity.
Elaine felt her heart swell with joy, a smile spreading across her face, a joyful and heart-swelling tear hanging on the rims of her lashes.
"Is this real? Or just a figment of my imagination? Is Mother Luck suddenly standing by my side?"
"I would like that, Michael. I would like that very much," she replied, her voice filled with hope and happiness.
"Can I come in?" Micheal asked, not wanting to invade her privacy unwelcoming.
"Yes, please," she replied in a whisper, her heart filled with the joy of finally fulfilling her wish.
