Chapter 6 - oath ceremony

——————

Knock knock knock knock...

Rael woke up to the sound of knocking on the door. He slowly opened his eyes and looked around carefully. Then he sat up and said, "Please come in."

The door opened, and the maid entered, bowing slightly. She said in a formal tone, "Sir Rael, Mr. Elliot requested me to inform you that the oath ceremony will begin in one hour. If you need any assistance, I am at your service."

She spoke with a composed voice without any fluctuations.

"Could you prepare breakfast for me?" Rael asked politely. The maid bowed slightly in acknowledgment and left the room.

Rael got up from the bed and looked out of the window. The sky was filled with clouds, and the weather seemed a bit gloomy. After observing the sky for a few seconds, he went to the bathroom, washed his face, and then came out to sit at the table, waiting for his breakfast.

After a few minutes, the maid returned, accompanied by another maid carrying two plates filled with unfamiliar dishes. The maids placed the food on the table and left.

Rael sat there, trying to recall his past memories to identify the components of these unfamiliar dishes, but he could only recognize some items like meat, water, and something resembling an apple. After searching his memories for a few seconds, he failed to remember anything else and decided to start eating.

Fifteen minutes later, Rael finished his meal, and despite not recognizing most of the dishes, he found them delicious.

Then, Rael had an idea and lit up the room with a thought before sitting at the desk and browsing through some books. Most of these books were about the history of the continent in general and the history of vampires in particular, along with some other information.

After forty minutes of reading, Rael discovered several things. Firstly, their calendar was similar to Earth's, consisting of twelve months, and the current year was 13436. It was based on the duration fr the Great Treaty, signed after the end of the Third Great War between the six races, which lasted for over 300 years.

After that, many things were decided, such as abolishing slavery and how to divide the lands and natural resources.

But what surprised Rael was that the inhabitants of this world had the ability to travel to other worlds and conquer them. This meant that in the future, he might be able to return to Earth, but that would be in the distant future.

Furthermore, Rael learned that half-vampires, though uncommon, existed, and no discrimination was imposed against them.

He also discovered the existence of other races besides the current ruling ones. These races had two sources of origin: either they lived in a certain period on this continent and didn't go extinct, but now they lived in isolation or traveled to other worlds, or they were found in the worlds conquered by the current races. The prohibition of slavery wouldn't apply to them unless they belonged to the six races, in which case specific measures would be taken according to the treaty.

Rael also found out that this world had its own consciousness, even though it wasn't as intelligent as an adult human. It was capable of performing various actions, such as rewarding its conquerors when they take the knowledge of other worlds and kill the inhabitants of the conquered worlds.

Moreover, Rael came across information about the oath ceremony, which seemed to resemble a contract made between two or more parties through an altar and a special scroll. The world's consciousness would act as a witness between them, and if there was any violation of the agreement, the world would use its power to eliminate the defaulter.

While lost in his thoughts, he was interrupted by a knocking sound from outside, followed by Elliot's voice saying, "Sir Rael, it's time for the initiation ceremony."

Rael got up from the desk, opened the door, and headed with Elliot to the fourth floor where Lina resided.

After a few minutes, they reached a room on the fourth floor. When Rael entered, he saw an altar surrounded by strange symbols, emitting a peculiar aura.

Lina was already there, standing next to the altar, holding a scroll.

When she saw them enter, she turned to face them and gestured with her finger, causing the scroll to float towards Rael. She said, "This is the contract; read it. If you have any doubts, you can ask me. If you find no issues, drop a little of your blood on the scroll and approach the altar."

Rael opened the scroll and, after a few minutes of reading, finished it.

The agreement was primarily about Rael becoming Lina's servant, promising not to betray her unless she wanted to harm him. In return, she would assist and support him with resources, knowledge, care, and guidance, without giving him orders that violated his dignity or principles.

Rael pricked his finger, allowing a small wound to form, and dropped some of his blood on the scroll. After that, he and Lina approached the altar and placed the scroll in its center.

Moments later, the altar started to glow with a bright white light, and after a while, Rael felt something enveloping him and merging with him.

After a few seconds, the glow began to fade, and the symbols on the altar lost their radiance. Rael felt a kind of connection between him and Lina.

As they descended from the altar, Elliot approached them and extended his hand to shake hands with Rael, smiling. "Well done! You are now a member of the third Princess Lina's faction. I'm sure with your talent and the support of the princess, you'll become an important assistant to her."

Rael shook Elliot's hand and thanked him. It was the first time he had seen Elliot smile.

"Alright, go with Elliot. He'll explain the internal situation of the vampires to you, and then you can start training with the other trainees on the first floor until you reach the tenth. Once your root is awakened, I'll send you to the Night Shield Academy, the top academy in the vampire kingdom."

Both Rael and Elliot bowed slightly to Lina and then left the room, heading to the first floor.
