Ayra's POV
I woke up to the sunlight streaming through my bedroom window. As I got up, I felt a throbbing headache.
What did I do last night? All I remember is going to a bar and having some drinks.
I tried to recall what happened, but I couldn't remember anything, so I decided to head to the bathroom. After freshening up, I went downstairs.
As I descended the stairs, I noticed Falcon's presence in the kitchen. He was cooking and seemed to be done already.
It's a miracle! Why is he still here in the morning? He usually leaves even on Sundays.
I went straight to the refrigerator to get some water. While I was drinking, he spoke.
"Good morning," he greeted me. I was facing him, so I accidentally spat the water I was drinking right at his face. "Ayra, why did you do that?!"
"What did you eat?" I asked emotionlessly.
"What did you say?"
"I'm surprised and just wondering," I replied with a puzzled expression. "Because—Ayra, good morning? What the heck, Falcon? Did you just have a taste the thing of your woman again?"
"You don't believe me, it's up to you. Should I have said good evening? Your taste is terrible," he said without looking at me.
Maybe he did something wrong?
"What's your fault?" I asked with raised eyebrows.
"Fault? What are you talking about?" he frowned, clearly in denial. "You can eat now."
I grabbed a plate and put some food on it. While we were eating, he still couldn't look at me properly. I know him too well.
"I just want to say sorry," he finally said, avoiding eye contact. "About last night," he added.
Last night?
"What happened last night?"
"You have amnesia!" he said, raising his head in annoyance. "But thanks, you don't know."
I suddenly stood up and grabbed his collar.
"What happened last night?!"
"Stop with your gangster act. I'm a gangster too, and we might just kill each other."
I let go of him.
"Tell me, what happened?" I asked, annoyed. He apologizes and then refuses to tell me? That's infuriating. "What happened last night, you moron?"
"Just a honeymoon. We haven't done that yet." He smiled to make me even angrier.
"Fuck!" I cursed. "Tell me you're lying, asshole!"
"Yes, I'm fucking serious, so I tasted your..."
"Fuck you, Falcon! I'm gonna kill you!"
"Tsk," he sighed. "It's a joke, and I won't do that to you without your permission."
I breathed a sigh of relief. We continued eating. While eating, someone shouted.
"BRO! SOMEONE'S INVITING US FOR A BASKETBALL GAME!" the voice shouted.
I finished my meal, and so did Falcon, so we went to the living room.
"What's your problem, Dave?" my husband asked him. "You're screaming, it's too early in the morning."
"Near the university, we were stopped while walking. They recognized us as gangsters, and they were about to attack us, but their boss arrived and suggested settling it through a basketball game," he explained.
"I don't want to," Falcon replied stiffly and looked the other way.
"Come on, Falcon! It's just this once. You're kill joy!" Ross said.
"Just come with us, Bryx. We'll find other teammates," Ace suggested.
"I have an idea!" Dave exclaimed with a triumphant smile.
What nonsense did he think of now?l
"What is it?" Falcon asked angrily. "Make sure I'll like it."
Dave whispered something to them, and they seemed to agree.
"Ayra, come with us! You're not busy anyway!" Ross urged me.
"Why?" I asked coldly.
"Just come along. Dave planned this," Falcon also insisted.
"Ayra, come on, okay?" said Dave.
"Are you sure she knows there?" my husband asked, facing Dave.
"Of course," Dave proudly answered with a smile. "I always hear her name mentioned there."
Falcon turned to me before hearing Dave's statement. "Come with me."
I was frowning when I asked, "What will I do there?"
"Nothing. Just watch and don't look at us. Look only at the opponents. Basic, right?"
Am I busy today?
"Alright," I said casually and went to the kitchen to brush my teeth.
When I finished, I was amazed because they were already wearing their jerseys. Are they ready?
"Where did you get those?" I asked without emotion but with astonishment.
"To Falcon's closet. We played last week."
I didn't respond to Dave. I changed the topic. "Are we just going for a walk?"
They just nodded, so we left the house. I thought it would be awkward walking together, but it wasn't because Dave and Ross were arguing.
"We're really going to win it!" Dave shouted at him.
"The three of us will win? Where will you find an ally, huh?!" Ross retorted.
"Stupid! Probably there! Geez, Ross!"
"You're stupid too! You're not explaining enough!"
"We'll win, for sure!"
Ugh, they were so noisy. We were just walking. Can't they stop arguing? They acted like kids.
"Enough, make sure of it!"
""For crying out loud! Can't you shut up? You even beat the quiet girl with us. You two talk too much!" Ace scolded the two who seemed annoyed as well.
"Yes, sir!"
They became as meek as cats.
When we reached the court, there were so many people. Men and women were here. It seemed like they were betting on something, that's what I felt. I was surprised when my companions veered away from the usual entrance of the court.
"Where are we going?" I asked immediately.
"We'll go through the back, straight to the lowest bench, so we won't get mobbed by the girls."
Dave grinned at me. It was obvious he was showing off, but he seemed to have another reason. I didn't know.
We walked towards the back, and there was a gate. We went in and went underground. This is where players enter when they have not yet started. They will only come out when their group is called.
"Is it basketball?" I asked and sat down in the chair.
"A lot of people are watching because they know that gangsters will play. There are bets, and many handsome men, so there are also many girls," Ross answered, chuckling.
"Where's the referee?"
"We got one. It's fine if they're on the opponents' side. They'll soften up later! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAA!" he added.
"You're crazy, Ross!" Ace shouted back.
"This is what I found," Falcon said.
I looked at him. He had two men with him.
"What's your name, bro?" Dave asked them.
Instead of answering Ross's question, the two chose to look at me.
"C-Can I back out?" the tall man stuttered.
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"
They laughed, except for Falcon.
"Ayra, don't be so intimidating," Ace said, holding back his laugh.
I was wondering, but I just ignored it.
"I'm Joel," the one who wanted to back out earlier introduced himself.
"I'm Dark," another man said coldly.
Dark? What a nice meet.
Suddenly, a man came in, and he looked like the referee.
"We're about to begin. Who's your muse? It's necessary," he said.
"We have. Our group's name is Hell," Dave answered.
The referee nodded and left.
"Ayra, you're the muse," Falcon said coldly to me.
What? Why me? I don't want to walk there in the middle of the court wearing only shorts and a white t-shirt.
"Why me?" I was disgusted with Falcon.
"No more buts," he said demandingly.
Can I do anything about it? Annoying.
"Okay! Let's start!" someone shouted because I couldn't see who it was. "First, let's call the players of Demon Players!"
Demon? What's that?
"Wooooh! Demon! Demon!"
"Demon!"
"You guys are handsome!"
Cheers from the crowd.
"And their muse is Demonnnn!"
So that's why their group is called Demon.
"You're beautiful!"
"Waaahhhh!"
"Chixxx!"
"Sexxxyy!"
I heard their cheers.
Why did I even come? With their cheers, I feel like I'm being undressed even though I'm wearing clothes. I feel like they'll disrespect me. I hope no guy will approach me.
"And the other group is the Hell Players!"
They all came out except for me and Falcon. Almost all the people who shouted were girls.
"You guys are handsome!"
"Why Hell?"
"They're so handsome!"
"I want them to win!"
"I bet on them!"
"And their muse is named Hell!"
I just sat there without emotion. I didn't move. I didn't want to go out. They can just pull in another girl. They even managed to get allies.
"Where is she?"
"She's not here!"
"Where?"
"Being important!"
"Stop being pretty, hey!"
I heard them screaming.
I was surprised when Falcon pulled me up.
He's really bossy!
"You're the muse."
"Let go of me, pest!"
I started walking out.
I could see so many people.
I went out emotionlessly. I scanned the whole court. The shouting crowd fell silent. They seemed extremely surprised.
Do I look like a ghost? I stopped in the middle to observe them all.
"Why is he here?"
"I just saw Hell for the first time."
"The one who was hiding finally showed up."
"Demon group will defeat. Hell brought a distraction."
"Nice one, bro! She's beautiful!"
"She's even more beautiful than Demon."
"Why Hell?"
"God, it's Hell!"
"Why are they together? Didn't Hell attack their group long ago?"
"I think I can't watch this anymore."
Suddenly, the whispers changed.
"Wow! He's handsome!"
"It's Bryx!"
"He's so handsome!"
"Hey, look! He's so handsome!"
"So handsome!"
I should have turned around, but I was surprised when he took my hand and brought me to the bench. Others stood up and avoided us.
What's going on?
I sat there, and Falcon sat next to me. I noticed that the game hadn't started yet.
I wondered why everyone was looking at us. I glanced at Falcon, and he seemed to notice what was happening. He was looking at something, so I looked too. The players were shaking their knees, including the referee.
They do look familiar to me, but I can't remember.
"Why?" I asked coldly to everyone, and my question echoed because of the silence.
They looked away and I noticed that their muse, Demon, was looking at me. She glared at me but I ignored her.
The basketball game started and I just watched. The opposing team couldn't score because they were looking at me. That's why our team scored. When I felt drowsy, I lay down on the bench. Falcon looked at me with a frown.
"Why?" I asked.
"You're lying down like that with what you're wearing. Are you not a girl?"
"You agreed to have me as the muse and walk in the middle of the court with many guys watching."
I just closed my eyes because I didn't want to argue. I fell asleep quickly, even though I felt like someone was watching me.
I woke up when someone tapped my cheek so I sat.
Dave.
"What?" I asked.
"Ayra, why did you sleep? They will win. They're obviously taller than us. The referee is biased. The
opponents got several technical fouls and he didn't call them out." He sighed. "We have a break first because it was tiring."
Right, the opposing team is winning.
Demon - 101
Hell - 89
"Would I be helpful if I'm awake? I'll just be sitting idly."
"You're the one who can help us win, especially since the referee is so biased. Bryx hasn't even entered the court yet," said Ross.
"Hurry up!" said Ace.
I noticed that Dark was looking at me, so I glared at him. He immediately averted his gaze. The game had already started, and I was too lazy to pay attention.
I noticed that the other team glanced at me and seemed very scared, so Dave and Ace scored.
I'm really sleepy so I lowered my head. When I raised my head, there was a ball coming at me. I should have kicked it away and avoided it, but someone was already there.
Because I tried to kick it away, I suddenly lost my balance and fell. He was lying on the cement of the court, and I was on top of him. But it was really embarrassing because my chest was right on Falcon's face so my eyes widened. I quickly stood up but he just grinned.
"Pervert!" I almost whispered a shout. I sat back down.
"That's okay," Falcon said nonchalantly, as if trying to ease my embarrassment.
I looked at everyon, their attention was also on us, and they started whispering.
"Bryx is lucky man!"
"She should've beaten Bryx!"
"They know each other!"
"What's going on between them?"
"Yeah, I noticed it earlier."
"I think the guy likes Hell!"
I knew it. I'll definitely punch Dave.
"Damn," I muttered quietly because I was annoyed.
"Don't be embarrassed. We're already married, after all."
He looked serious but I could tell he was teasing.
"I fucking hate you!"
"Sorry, someone threw the ball," the referee apologized.
"Who?" I asked with authority, showing that someone should be scared. Serious but calm.
"Oh no! We're in trouble!"
"Hope there's no trouble!"
"Let's get out of here!"
Suddenly, the referee pointed at Demon as their muse. I stood up to approach her. She had the audacity to throw the ball to me and leave marks on my body.
What kind of girl is she? She even glared at me!
Wow!
She was about to slap me but someone held her hand.
It's Dark.
"Forgive my sister, Hell," Dark apologized.
"Hmm, you—"
"Sorry, please, sorry."
Demon was obviously shocked by her older brother's attitude. I know Dark, so I took a deep breath.
"Okay but first warning," I threatened and examined this Demon before I turned away.
Falcon looks at me badly again.
What's the problem with that?
"Need to attack her?" he asked coldly.
"Tsk," I just sighed and sat down.
The game started and the winner was our team. They had a lot of fun as well as the gamblers. The court was filled with shouting because of the victory.
We walked out.
"Thank you, Ayra," Dave thanked me.
"For what?"
"You're a distraction to them. They're all scared. Look at them now that you're awak, some members can't score. Their referee is biased. You're our weapon against that. It's not our fault if they got scared. Bryx is just being a meddler if he had entered the court, we wouldn't have struggled," Dave explained.
"I'll punch you sometimes, Dave," I faked a smile at him, causing him to scratch his head.
"Ayra, your scene with Bryx was so beautiful. You're making a scene in public too! HAHAHAHAHA!" teased Ross.
I could see the resistance in their eyes but did nothing. When they disappeared from my sight I immediately went to the one waiting for me.
"What?" I asked.
"When are you coming back?" Dark asked.
"Soon?"
"Are you sure?"
"I'm not sure."
"Gell, a lot of people are looking for you."
"Go. Hide and seek us."
We walked together and I could still see people looking at me.
"How are you and Bryx?"
"Bryx? You should ask him."
"You? I said."
I rolled my eyes. "I'll go ahead. I've been wanting to go home for a while."
"Alright. Bye. I'm sorry for my sister."
I ignored him and walked alone.
Until I reached home. I entered the gate and looked at the guard who seemed to be waiting for me.
"What is it, sir?"
"Ma'am, I found this necklace yesterday when a girl was talking to sir. She dropped it."
He presented the necklace in front of me. I looked at the necklace. It's the four-piece necklace that Jean, Nicol, Kim, and I have. Who's the owner of this? Only the four of us have this. I'm wearing mine.
I remembered that Jean wasn't wearing her necklace when we were in the cafeteria. Is this Jean's necklace? Why was she talking to Falcon? I suddenly felt anxious.
"Did Falcon come home here, sir?"
"No, ma'am."
They went home before me. Nervous engulfed my entire body. I quickly ran inside the house, grabbed the key to my car and went to the garage. I opened the car's door and started the engine.
I drove quickly, filled with nervousness. There was something I didn't want to see. But there was also a part of me that wanted to find out.
When I arrived at the university, I immediately parked the car. I hurriedly went downstairs and entered without noticing the school guard.
I was running when I met Kim.
"Ayra!" she called me. I looked at her neck, and there was the necklace.
"Come with me," My reaction couldn't read as long as I felt like I wanted to kill someone.
We ran and were close to Jean's dorm when we met her.
"Jean!" I called.
"Ayra," she said and hugged me.
"Where's your necklace?" I asked immediately.
"Why?" she asked, confused.
"Your necklace?!" I shouted angrily. They were even surprised by my attitude but I didn't care!
"Just calm down, Ayra," Kim tried to calm me down, even though she didn't know what was happening.
Jean put her hand on her dress and showed the necklace she was wearing.
"What about Nicol?" I asked the two of them.
"I don't know."
I saw Ross and Dave, too.
"Where's Falcon?" I asked the two of them coldly.
"He left us."
"I can kill now," I said before walking.
Their faces were full of astonishment but they followed me. We saw Ace.
"Falcon's in the dorm—"
He didn't finish what he was saying as I continued walking straight ahead.
I think they are fooling me.
I can really kill now.
I walked quickly to Ace's dorm and many students were also watching us. When I got to the door I was even more nervous. I slowly opened it and my knees almost softened from what I saw.
Nicol kissed Falcon.
I want to kill them.
Nicol is Falcon's mistress, huh?
