Chereads / THE KING DAMON ABERCIO CALDWELL / Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

"Ummh ...."

The pair of bright brown eyes opened, the glare of the afternoon sun making her eyes hurt. She blinked her eyelids repeatedly until her eyes adapted to the light.

"So dizzy." She complained.

Anna tried to sit up as she held her unusually dizzy head, her whole body also ached. The pain vied with each other to torment her.

The last thing Anna remembered was herself having an accident, going into the river and Anna didn't remember anything else after that.

"Where is this?"

Anna's eyes wandered, taking in the unfamiliar surroundings. Moments later Anna realized she was lying on the riverbank. "Oh my God! Mom!" Anna tried to stand up even though her body was injured, she had to find her Mommy immediately.

When Anna got up, she realized that there was a pretty bad cut on her leg. Anna couldn't remember when she got the long laceration on her calf, it wasn't too deep but it was still bleeding.

Anna sat back down, before she tore the bottom of the white t-shirt she was wearing. The tear was long, so it was easy for Anna to tie the cloth to her injured leg.

After that Anna quickly stood up. "I need to get help." Anna left the river and walked straight into the forest.

Anna's small steps led her through this dense forest, she noticed that the surroundings were completely deserted. There were no animal sounds, even the birds were reluctant to chirp. It was like a dead forest.

"How strange," Anna murmured as she took in her surroundings.

Anna walked for quite some time, but she found nothing in the forest. It was getting darker and Anna was sure that this forest would become more dangerous.

"You haven't even gotten your wolf form yet!"

A human voice!

A glimmer of hope came to Anna, without realizing it a small smile rose on her face. A human voice, not too loud, but Anna was sure it was nearby. "People! I can call for help!"

"I don't want to lose you." The voice was getting clearer.

Anna's steps stopped when her foot accidentally tripped over something, Anna lowered her head to see what she had stepped on.

"Huh!" Anna covered her mouth when the thing she stepped on oozed red liquid. Blood.

"Wolf? "Anna was shocked when she saw the wolf lifeless with blood still coming out of its neck. "What made him like this?"

She shook her head, Anna couldn't switch her focus because her main goal was to ask for help from the human she heard to get out of this forest.

However, the closer Anna got to the voice the more wolf corpses she encountered. Anna felt bad when her bare feet stepped on a pool of blood on the ground, she was also scared. Anna covered her mouth, she felt extremely nauseous when she smelled the blood.

"You killed my son!"

Anna saw someone's back to her, but she couldn't see him clearly, there seemed to be a fight going on. Immediately Anna hid behind a tree.

"I don't know which one."

Then Anna heard a strange sound, until a moment later it became quiet. Is it over? Anna asked herself.

Tuk tuk

Anna immediately turned her head as she heard a voice right beside her.

"Ahh!"

Anna's eyes widened, fear and shock clearly painted on her face. Who wouldn't be surprised to see a disembodied head rolling towards her?

Anna was terrified now, the head still oozing blood from the slash marks on her neck.

Immediately Anna clamped her mouth shut, making sure no other sound came out. Her stomach felt sick to her stomach, Anna felt like she was going to throw up soon when she saw the atrocity happening in front of her eyes.

"Hey little girl, what are you doing here?"

Anna turned her head when she heard a male voice right beside her. Oh no, looks like Anna was dealing with the wrong person.

With a sitting position Anna pulled back her body, she was completely terrified when the red-eyed man looked at her with a terrifying grin.

"Don't come any closer!" The words that came out of Anna's mouth trembled, evidence of fear overcoming her.

Damon watched Anna, his brow furrowing when he smelled Anna's scent. Strange, she didn't smell like a werewolf, nor like her enemy. This familiar smell ....

"Human!" Now it was Damon's turn to widen his eyes, he watched Anna. "How is that possible?!" In his entire life, there was only one human he had ever met and that human was his mother.

Damon quickly cut his distance from Anna with one tug on the girl's leg, Anna was already in front of him.

"No!" Anna struggled as the hand with the sharp claws touched her. "You monster!" Anna yelled.

"Yeah, whatever you want."

Bugh

Damon was caught off guard, the little foot kicked him in the face. The girl ran away.

"Seriously." Damon chuckled when he saw the girl's futile act. Running away from him? Impossible.

Anna quickly got up with the strength she had left and ran with all her might, away from the monster she had just found.

Ignoring the pain in her calf, Anna accelerated her pace. Anna's heart was beating fast, out of sheer fear. Anna stepped over the dead bodies of the wolves she had passed, Anna was sure it was the man who killed all these wolves.

The man was truly a monster, he had sharp claws on his hands. The man's eyes were also strange, a fiery red color and Anna still remembered when the man grinned a sharp fang was in his mouth.

"Hah... Hah ...." Anna's breath hitched.

But, luck was not on her side, while running she accidentally tripped over a tree root.

Bruk

Anna's body fell forward with her face hitting the ground first, this was truly the worst day of her life.

Anna tried to get up even though her nose was bleeding, even though her head felt dizzy from the strong impact on the ground.

However, it was all in vain. Anna collapsed again and lost consciousness.

~~

"What should I do with her?" Damon looked down at Anna's unconscious body. "If I leave her here ...." Damon looked thoughtful. "You shouldn't," he continued.

Damon put on the hood of his cloak and squatted beside Anna. "Running away from me is a futile act."

His red eyes narrowed to look at Anna, this girl was human. Her hair was back-length, jet black in color. Her body was small and Damon still remembered those bright brown eyes looking at him in fear.

In a way, the girl reminded him of his mother. Although there were many differences between them, they were still both human.

"Maybe I should take her."

Driven by his humanity, Damon finally decided to take Anna. He slipped his arm around her waist, easily transferring her to his shoulder.

The sky was dark, the sun had disappeared. Damon stepped away from the scene, he had to get back before Adam came back to get him.
