Chapter 21 - You have a mate?

At the Royal Lyc-demon palace, Lord Asmodeus was staring blankly into space in a very luxurious bedroom by the window. The night was bright with the cold wind hitting against his anguished face from the window. Something troubling was on his mind that he had failed to realize it when his wife walked into the room. She starred long at his broad back in silence and heaved a deep sigh, walking to him.

Lord Asmodeus flinched slightly at the tender embrace of his wife from behind. His not long ago worried eyes suddenly changed into a loving one when he turned to embrace her back with a warm smile on his face.

"What's the matter Asmo?" Her voice cried against his broad chest.

He sighed. "Nothing to be worried about love. Just thinking about us." He answered with a loop sided smile at the corners of his lips.

"What about us?" His wife pulled away and smirked in a knowing way.

"Lots of things. You know about how I always seem to never get enough of you."

She chuckled and hit him lightly on the shoulder. "Stop messing around with me." She walked away to the bed and sat at the edge. Lord Asmodeus' gaze followed her and soon joined her by the bed. His tall frame knelt before her, caressing her hands tenderly. "Were you thinking about our son?" The question came out as a slight whisper, dropping a sudden silence over the duo. Lord Asmodeus frowned and looked down at the floor. This, the queen noticed well and smiled lightly, caressing his chin to have him look at her.

"Asmo. I know you wish you could have done more but what's done is done. Our son is gone now." She reasoned. The lord stared in a pained way at the woman before him. How he so wished he could feel the slightest bit liberated from the great burden cast upon his shoulders. If only she knew. He thought and looked down in more shame.

"Asmo." She whispered, while her eyes only began to well. The lord abruptly placed his finger on her cherry plum lips, silently telling her not to be bothered. A pained smile was flashed at him. It occurred to him then that his wife knew nothing about Tezznin nor his visions about their son and the more he thought about it, the more it irked and hurt him that he could not make his vision come to pass. Oh how he wish could see her smile genuinely again at the return of her son. How he wished Eliot would come back to them whole this time and make the family complete again. It only hurt now as he thought about it.

"Ravana." He began, but then, there was a sudden knock at the door. His annoyed gaze landed on the door and then to his wife whom only gave him an assuring smile. "Come in." The king said aloud rising to his feet with his wife by his side. Entering the room was none other than Heracles.

"Oh dear, Heracles. Are you okay?" The queen sounded worried staring at the man whom had walked in staggering and looking all pale and sick. He steadily walked and sat, leaning himself against the wall with one leg lying straight on the floor and the other one bent up so that his right hand was resting limply on it. He shut his eyes, as the queen neared him and touched his forehead that was now very hot although all he felt was nothing but cold. He sighed when she exclaimed at how hot he was.

Lord Asmodeus frowned. "You've been in contact with Gaia again haven't you?" He questioned with a monotone.

"I didn't know she held so much against me even until now." He chuckled and winced, gritting his teeth and pressing his left hand to the side of his left chest.

"How is it that you managed to see her again? I thought I told you to stay away from her at all cost."

"I know, I know, but it happened unexpectedly. Asmo, I know I've moved on before but I can't anymore." Heracles confessed with his eyes now furiously reddened. The queen only stared in confusion at the duo not sure of what they were talking about. Her worried eyes observed Heracles keenly and then it hit her.

"Heracles." She exclaimed. "You found your mate." She whispered, earning herself an odd look from Asmo and a pained one from Heracles. "Where's she? Who is she?" She questioned eagerly. The room only falling silent and suddenly heavy.

"Love please not now. Heracles is in no situation to keep talking." Lord Asmodeus declared and walked to the man helping him stand up. Just when they took the first step, the queen halted them, standing in their way.

"No he needs help. You know we can't keep him away from his mate like this forever. Who is she? Let's go get her." She sounded frustrated.

"No Ravana. We can't." The king tried to reason. "He's been through this before and made it out one more time won't kill him." He continued moving the now weakened Heracles with him but the stubborn woman just won't move out of the way.

"No Asmo. I demand we let them meet themselves. You know how difficult these things are. If you won't go then just tell me who she is and I'll get her myself." Her stubborn highness continued to insist.

"Enough Ravana. Let me take care of this."

"No. You will only kill him."

"Ravana." The king's calm voice came out depressed.

"Asmo. Who is she? Tell me." She insisted. "Tell me."

"She's human." Heracles mastered courage and said so allowed, successfully shutting her up. Her eyes fell astonish on her husband's and then on the sick man.

"Hu—man." She stammered. "You mean you've been in contact with the human world?" She frowned. "Why?" Her questioning and disappointed gaze landed on the duo. The king sighed and shut his eyes tightly, hating himself dearly what he was about to do.

"I'm sorry Ravana, but there's so much you do not know and there's no time to explain them now, but I swear I'd explain them to you when the time is right. Just trust me." His eyes pleaded, then without warning, both he and Heracles disappeared from sight.
