Georgia stood frozen, her ears ringing as if struck by thunder. Could she have misheard those words? Organ donor? It couldn't be possible, could it?
Her head spun, and her vision blurred. She had to grasp the situation; it couldn't be true.
However, the man's voice, with its calm authority, dispelled any lingering doubts. "Prepare Georgia's medical examination report and provide a copy to Peter for the preoperative evaluation."
"Yes, Mr. Jack."
Georgia's world seemed to crumble around her, her limbs trembling with shock. Cold dread coursed through her veins as she pieced together the dreadful truth. The recipient of the surgery was none other than Ye Wan'er, the woman for whom she was supposed to be a kidney donor. She had been oblivious to this intricate scheme while foolishly marrying Jack, dreaming of a blissful life with him.
It was utterly absurd!
Huddled in the doorway of the consultation room, Georgia's body felt like ice. She clenched her lower lip so hard that it stung, a physical pain grounding her in reality.
It all made sense now. Jack's rushed marriage proposal, his insistence on her undergoing a comprehensive medical examination, and his repeated emphasis that her body was not just hers—it was all part of an elaborate plan. He had married her with the intention of using her as an organ donor for the woman he loved.
A suffocating weight pressed down on Georgia's chest, making it hard to breathe. This revelation was the cruelest blow she had ever endured. And to make matters worse, she was carrying Jack's child!
She couldn't let this sinister plan succeed. She would not be a kidney donor for Ye Wan'er. She had to escape this calculated trap, this loveless marriage to Jack, and protect her unborn child.
Her heart steeled with determination. Georgia clenched her teeth, resolute in her decision.
As the clinic remained eerily quiet, she cautiously peered outside. Seeing no one around, she quietly slipped out and hurried towards the elevator.
Her steps were hurried and unsteady due to the tension gripping her. She needed to escape this situation immediately.
Meanwhile, the door to a nearby ward creaked open, and Du Yue emerged. He spotted a figure moving urgently in the corridor and couldn't help but watch more closely. Something about that figure seemed oddly familiar.
As he scrutinized the figure, a realization washed over him—It was Georgia!
Why was she here? Did she discover something?
Du Yue's heart raced, and he felt a surge of panic. He swiftly turned and knocked on the ward door, pushing it open to approach Jack.
"Mr. Jack, this isn't good. I just saw Georgia outside."
Jack's eyes darkened. "What?"
"What's going on, Brother Jack?" The woman who had been sitting by the window, reading in the warm sunlight, looked up with a quizzical expression.
Jack's gaze softened as he turned to Ye Wan'er, who wore a white dress and appeared fragile. "It's alright, just a minor matter. Don't worry."
Ye Wan'er nodded and returned to her reading.
Stepping out of the ward, Jack closed the door gently, then looked at Du Yue, silently urging him to continue.
"I came out a moment ago and saw Georgia heading towards the elevator in a hurry. I think..."
Jack's expression darkened further. "You think she found out?"
Du Yue nodded gravely. "Yes, I believe she did."
Jack's brows knitted in deep concern. After a brief pause, he spoke in a cool, determined tone. "I'll go check on her."
"Miss Ye, please follow me..."
